Why don't they talk about how India is breaking records everyday in terms of Infrastructure and roads?? Why don't they talk about how India brought 200m people out of poverty within a decade? And at last why don't they showcase those neighborhood of New-York where Gangs operate openly and people live on roads? and slums of China like they don't have poor people and poverty? In the same comment i've accepted that we do have poverty, but if you want to create a positive view for a nation then you'll have to showcase the positives as well which clearly western media doesn't do and it ofcourse is creating a agenda and portraying a nation in a certain way. @@vinamrajha China already eliminated extreme poverty and its normal poverty count is very low, India is nowhere comparable, no part of India is even comparable to China. I love how this video completely ignores Shenzhen which is a tech hub that is far more impressive than Bangalore, it instead compares Bangalore to Beijing and Shanghai which of course it would outpace since the latter two aren't even tech hubs.

Texas Instruments was the first technology product company which setup its office in Bengaluru in 1984-85. Unfortunately, Infosys , though was the first technology services company, was always known as a services company and only created the tradition of going to US, live like a miser and return and show off the dollars. The real technology startup boom was started by Flipkart and this followed the list of innovative startups, which was actually solving real life problems and gave the real reason to engineers that they can get the technological edge as well as good salary even in India.

As someone who grew up in Bengaluru, this is so amazing. I live in the US. Whenever I visit Bengaluru, there are so many changes and positive outlook. What I love is the public transportation - buses and metro trains! The old pictures of Cubbon park, Lal Bagh, MG Road, Vidhana Soudha is very nostalgic. I see them in old movies. It was a chill city. One thing Bengaluru needs to focus on is rain water conservation and management. Lots of lakes were closed down with sand and mud to build this infrastructure. That's why whenever there is heavy rain, there are floods. Many environmentalists have predicted that In the future there will drinking water shortage in this great city.

I think what sets Bengaluru apart is the fact that the growth is not fuelled by a single specific industry. True the IT boom gave it the lift off, but currently, Bengaluru and adjoining areas are a major engineering and manufacturing hub. Financial services industry that Bengaluru offers is paralleled by very few cities in the world. Name a major bank in the world, possibility is that they have a presence in Bengaluru. Economic growth outpacing Infrastructure development continues to be a major problem. But the true strength of the city is that it has hedged it's bets well and diversified over the last decade or so in terms of the different industries it caters to.

I smile...as the US and the UK send back visa professionals, these very folks will use their gained knowledge and expertise and create strong competition. By the time Silicon Valley figures it out it will be too hard to catch up, unless they start doing mergers or buy-outs.

Literally Bengaluru was a small tier 2 city in 90s, people used to think only big 4 Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai as tier 1, where they can go for better lives. In last 10 years Bengaluru has been the dream city for everyone in whole India. Every single day People moving here. There was Hyderabad who was competing in early days, but now Bengaluru is dream destination for everyone. Still in terms of infrastructure this city has probably the worst of all. It will get better, as it gets highest FDI ad compared to any city.

@@sidharthsundaramramachandr5384 Hey, man. Didn't mean to hurt you. Chennai still is one of the biggest cities in India due to its coastal proximity, industrialisation and technological advancement. But it's not growing as fast as some other big cities. Also, I think Chennai is relativity less immigration friendly, compared to the ones I've mentioned. We've already seen in the last 75 years how Delhi and Mumbai's economies blew up because of massive levels of immigration. Pune, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad are way more immigration friendly rn. Chennai is kinda like Kolkata in this regards. Kolkata was one of the Big 4 but is now lagging behind and continues to do so. And the two factors I consider for immigration friendliness are - how welcoming the city, its education and business ecosystem are; and how willing immigrants are to choose the over major cities as their primary destination. Chennai's anti-Hindi hate and the extremely rapid development of cities like Bangalore and Pune make Chennai slip up in this consideration. Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Hyderabad are rising like Delhi and Mumbai did. If Chennai, while bigger than them, can still be easily overtaken like Kolkata, unless it shows rapid growth in GDP and immigration again to rival what I called the New Big 6.

Chennai has been known for being unfriendly for migrants for many decades but still its one of the most important city of india atleast for now. Is chennai really being unfriendly for migrants or is it just people from particular region of india feel that way because locals in Chennai dont speak hindi?

Bengaluru had a great start even before independence because of the Wodeyars. The Mysuru royal family was scientific oriented and did everything to create educational and scientific institutions and promote talent to make the entire state developed. The second reason we're the kannadigas itself. They have always been peaceful and education oriented and liberal at their core. These two reasons alone has made Bengaluru the behemoth it is.

As native Bengalurian who has lived in Bengaluru in 60s and 70s it hurts to see my beloved city in current condition. There is no doubt the opportunities are immeasurable but has come at a terrible cost of killing the heart and soul of the city. Believe me when I say this. The time it used to take in early 1970s to cover the distance from N.R.Colony to ITI colony near K.R.Puram railway station was around 35 minutes. Today the same distance takes 2+ hours. Our politicians with 0 foresight allowed unplanned and uncontrolled growth of the city.

The city culture is vibrant with full of smart and highly enthusiastic minds. The major bottel neck however is the city infrastructure, which is not planned for the most part. The city civic infrastructure is unable handle the high population influx, and my God the traffic. You can easily validate an idea, build the product and talk to investors while you are still stuck in the traffic.

Great video but it misses out the key issues that can drag down Bangalore - waste water treatment, rainwater flooding, unplanned real estate and the eternal traffic congestion! Startups need to join hands with govt agencies and NGOs to prevent disasters in future

Working in the office is better for our business, but when employees have a long commute, they want to work permanently from home. It's a conflict. It's in the interest of business to have a well-planned infrastructure in a city.

I work for Adobe here in Bangalore and I'm in love with the city and the rental part mentioned is upto an extend the truth. If you want something near to your office, it might be very expensive. I live in a gated colony in a 3BHK and i pay 45K(INR) per month but it's economical for me as it's very close to my office and takes min commute time

@@Vichu. Me and my wife earns close to 2 Lac per month so maybe 22.5% of our income collectively. But spending much is saving us money in other ways - less petrol expenses - all necessary shops in walkable distance which reduces commute for groceries Also the apartment is a 1950 sqft 3BHK - hence I can't afford it if I'm buying it and paying EMIs cause monthly EMI will come around 1.2L

Just to add some perspective, California has a GDP greater than all of India, so while the rate of change of GDP might be higher in Banglore, they are a couple of magnitudes apart, and it's important to keep that intertia in perspective.

Not sure if the growth of Bangalore is in right path. Surely and definitely Bangalore is growing big and its a great thing for people for Karnataka and more and more companies coming in, more job creation will help the people of Karnataka and even neighbouhood, but hope Bangalore doesn't slowly turn to a disastrous city with respect to crowd, traffic, concrete infrastructure, tower buildings finally just becoming a replica of either Mumbai or Delhi or any other worst metros of the world. Bangalore had the advantage of greenery and nature and hope it is with nature preservation or more so with atleast more than 50% nature and greenery that Bangalore gets development and ideally if Bangalore has to be a city cut above other cities in the world, it has to develop uniformly and spreaded and not that all concentration of commercial businesses and jobs are on one area and then the cost of that area goes sky rocket with only concrete buildings around. Bangalore could have easily become one of the best in the world, in a la Singapore model with more greenery and nature around, but alas the Govt., corporation and even people of Bangalore being least bothered about preserving their rich city have spoiled the beauty of Bangalore which it was once. Focus on water conservation and robust drainage, roads, other modes of transport, open spaces for garden, playground etc. are so very important and utmost necessity if Bangalore has to become a good developed city, else just calling it a Silicon Valley is of no use and utter worthless.

The only reason Bengaluru became IT hub, is because our politicians and gov back in 90’s and 2000, didn't tax much or put any so called licencing red tapes, back then our politicians didn't understand how IT sector works. Which is why the growth in that sector. But if u look at other sector, u will soon find out our city and country is plaguing in corruption. We need to improve in that part, to compete with silicon valley.

Yes, the tech space in bengaluru is good , however, whether someone who is not born and raised in that city will be able to cope up with surviving there and adjust to the local people's attitudes and life , that's whole different ball game. It feels nice to roam around as tourist in India temporarily but if you decide to move there for the long term and build a life that's when you will probably go back, rethink and justify your decisions. For people born and raised in India trying to build a better life, working in tech is not a choice, it is their only sure shot option unless they are going to succeed as entrepreneurs. For foreigners and outsiders, it might all look great for a couple of months until things go bad but you can always run back to your base in your country. If you're from a developed nation and somewhat middle class with a college degree then you're still in a much better place than most Indians trying to survive with a 7-12 job. There are many perks that don't come with a tech job in India that comes with a tech job in developed countries.

Next thing happening in India is around satellite development centres of tier 2 cities in India. Software development companies led growth of the economy is very promising, however Bangalore has become too overcrowded and Mysore in Karnataka or cities like Jaipur are coming up next on the software dev roadmap.

Its all nice, sometimes I feel bad for this place, the kind of value it produces, it never gets enough in return, blr has horrible infrastructure, whitefield area is a near dumpster ( This is where there are many tech gaints and startups ), this is also one of the most corrupt places in the entire country, the infrastructure here is abysmal. Compare it to Pune, where there aren't as many tech companies but the public infrastructure and overall lifestyle is such great, There are places in PCMC where you'll feel as if you are not in India anymore but some developed country, it feels ecstatic over there great food, hospitable & friendly people, surrounded by nature and first class public infrastructure, Ideal place for living a great life, I so wish I could go back, I just hate it here in blr.

Being honest no one used to talk about benguluru...not many people knew where it was located. But now everyone knows it. About 30 of my known friends have gone there to pursue higher education. It's where every student and working person want to live. It's also very safe and clean which adds points to it. Overall everyone from north east to west to central India wants to go there but idk how South Indian people feel about that 😂😅😅 iykyk

It has grown beyond saturation point. I am a local and I am making plans to relocate to Mysore or Hassan or somewhere pleasant within Karnataka. It is a great city ONLY in pockets here and there. I dread going to Kormangala to Whitefield. I always stick to old residential areas like Rajajinagar where Kannada crowd generally lives. It is still a fantastic city if you compare Bangalore to messy cities outside KA, I personally feel the charm which was there in the 90s exists here and there. I wish other cities in India were developed too to share the burden. It would have benefitted people closer to their hometowns.

The development is great here, due to all those factors people immigrate here and population of bengaluru obviously will increase, the side effects of these revolution are those changes os that regional culture is dying,the kannada language ,the karnataka language all of them are affected, we have to be responsible and retain those cultures too with the development , jai hind jai karnataka mate

Bengaluru and Chennai in the south is my favorite city! It can only grow exponentially from here. Ultra bullish on India as a whole providing US, Russia and China don't fuck things up.
