Going from a small jade cutting to a sizable plant, ready to get a first styling as young bonsai. Is this possible? Succulents are often seen as slow growing, but is this a fair assessment?
How big can a Jade cutting grow in one growing season with proper care and healthy growth?

Wow! That was amazing growth! You don't really notice growth when you see a tree every day. Not until you see before and after pictures you see the difference.

Quite remarkable. I have two portulacaria and they "survive" but I will not give up. I think I water too little but not sure but will take this video as an inspiration even if I live farther north than you.🙂

:) When it is warm and the plant is actively growing, in the right substrate one can water quite a lot.

Wow. Just startet these a few weeks ago. The growth is amazing on yours. I left a few in their soil which i bought it in and a few in an akadama pumice mix. If i'm getting half your grow i would be happy.

I like these plants I have one that is over 25 or more old with very small leaves it is the only indoor species I will keep indoors, the secret is in the watering or lack of it, I water about once every three weeks or so, mine is now indoors as it is getting colder in the U.K. I think I will do as you have and repot it in a bigger pot in early spring and do the same with cuttings from it. Thanks for the video.

Hi Jelle love your videos, great to watch, and very east to listen too… A question if I may, I have a trident maple, can I work on the roots, towards the end of spring here in Melbourne, badly needs it, tree not growing well at all… Any advice, would be much appreciated 🙏

with the heatwaves picking up, I would probably not do hard rootwork after real growth has started. Probably best to uppot and in early spring next year do real rootwork? Seems like ozzy is in for a real stinkerhot sprong

@@GrowingBonsaithanx Jelle it’s not so hot at the moment in Melbourne but they say it’s gonna be a hot summer coming up, can get too hot, which is unpleasant … Thanx for your input, your the man, also have taken some Japenese and trident cuttings, trying your baggie method, will see how they go in a few weeks… Thanx Steve 6:55 6:57 6:58

I keep my portulacaria afra trees in growbox over the winter where they have light and very warm temperature 30°C so i need to water them 1-2 times a week what is better than in summer by the window.

I live in the Netherlands too and mine grew around the same size, I just watered them with my normal bonsai. I noticed that as long as i had good draining soil overwatering is not really a problem with the jade. This was in spring and summer. In Fall and winter i give them way less water.
