Maybe not the 5th Beatle but a fellow great musician who gave The Beatles a great lift and sense of purpose to create spontaneous great timeless music.He will always be remembered and associated for his positive contribution to The Beatles at that particular time of their career. 👍

Depends on how you look at it. George martin for me with always be the true 5th Beatle but Billy Preston and Eric Clapton are the two most famous players to make important recordings with the band.

Stop with all this ¨Billy Preston, fifth Beatle bullshit. He was a friend they knew from their Hamburg days that sat in for some session work with them like a thousand other musicians over the years had.

Not sure if any other session musician appeared in a film , played a full live gig with The Beatles and then played on two Beatle albums (Let it Be and Abbey Road ) .... as well as contributing to at least two solo Beatle albums.

He’s literally the only musician outside of the band to get billing on a Beatles record. Shut up.

@@allison3874 - Great comment, Allison. Billy Preston is the ONLY person who recorded an album with the group and played a live concert with the group. He also plays as a musician on more Beatles tracks... than anyone (other than Lennon, McCartney, Harrison & Starr) except George Martin.

Can you name even ten musicians who sat in with the Beatles for some session work..? I'll help you out a bit. Eric Clapton played guitar on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Nicky Hopkins played piano on "Revolution". You still need to name 998 more.... A thousand...? Hilarious. And can you name even one musician (other than Billy)... who played on more than one Beatles track..?
