I'm not optimistic if it receives the same abuse that snapped it in the first place. Great skills shown without a shadow of a doubt, but...either 2 miles or 200 miles. Not 2000. Not on those roads.

I would tend to agree but i figure the machinist has done this often enough that he knows a method that gives good results.

@@martin-vv9lf In other words you give all logic to the guy in Pakistan. He is just making his work shiny, and you are giving credence to nothing.

@@indrekkpringi I assume there are more factors at play. if he had simply welded the whole way through, then there may have been a wobble in the shaft which made it useless. therefore a weakened straight shaft would be of more value than a strong bent one. It's easy to criticise, but i have welded drill bits to make them longer for deep holes and it's actually quite difficult to do successfully. Tell me, have you repaired a similar shaft, or are you just an armchair machinist.
