The problem with button combos these days is that Chronus and Titan exist and are very mainstream now. They let you hit these combos perfectly every single time with a single button press. I started noticing this past week that BR double shot is beginning to show up in ranked games wayyy more often. And since 343 doesn’t ban for abusing mechanics, people are free to blatantly use double shot every single encounter.

I mean he addressed that in the video though? You can't actually use Cronus for these exploits because Cronus will execute the combo too fast, not getting off the whole burst. Also timing is different between weapons.

I love how this isn’t a reactionary take to a mechanic in the game but an actual thought through process of why it isn’t really that broken. God this community is so much better than other FPS games IMO

Dropping your weapon to ready your secondary is actually a mechanic that existed in a few older fps games most notably Action Quake 2 and Urban Terror. It’s cool to see it back in infinite

Great display of the double shot and other techniques. I at first thought that this wasn’t very feasible, but you’ve made me reconsider. At the very least I don’t see much harm with its current implementation. Give us more!

Personally, I feel like all of the discussion surrounding the rocket double-shot suggests that it is NOT OP. IF you have rockets AND thrust AND enough rockets to perform a reload, then you can do it a single time. But you ALSO need to be skilled enough to readjust the second shot because firing two rockets in quick succession at the same location seems completely pointless the vast majority of the time.

Idk I'd I understand it coretly your 2 rockets u shot counts for only one of the rockets and u still have a rocket becuse ranked has 2 rockets per spanker spawn but idk haven't tried to do it I feal like that's seems pretty useless from the recoil u have and the bullet pattern when u do the glitch so it seams very niech and almost counter productive

@@jakeheape8349 no it only works in quick games were you get 4 rockets, so you shoot one, reload, cancel reload animation with thrust and shoot another rocket. In ranked you only get two rockets so you can't reload

Great video man! People are still passionate about CE 20 years later too. Also I use the AI scan pretty frequently to find dropped weapons especially when solo and especially on streets (bulldog, stalker, rockets).

My balance philosophy for anything in an FPS is that application or "difficulty to perform" should evenly contrast its effectiveness in gameplay. Adding various forms of tech that have balanced effectiveness vs difficulty makes for great skillgaps. Quakes movement tech like strafe jumping and its derivetives, rocket jumping etc are great examples. Another excellent video Shy.

If you need specific equipment then I don’t think the double shot is particularly broken. I’m open to seeing arguments to prevent the sniper an rockets from doing it

for the double shot - they coded it to look for the the press of the RT button at any point after the equipment button is hit. It's likely designed this way so that players that execute a normal equipment usage are able to shoot as soon as the animation finishes. Making for a more responsive playstyle that lets the player feel like their executing actions asap.

I think melee stuff is more forgiving but any time a guns rate of fire can be changed via a glitch they should patch it.

Melee reference 🤝 I’d say keep everything tbh it’s so nuanced that you get shock rifle with grapple at the same time in ranked when holding positions and spawn trapping etc. seems harmless.

The melee system in the game is like Halo CE where each gun has a different melee speed, AND does different damage. What are your thoughts on that?

@@chrislee7222 Bladed weapons do more melee damage. If you shoot someone once with a mangler then melee them, They'll die. But if you shoot someone once then switch weapon to say, the BR and melee them they won't die. This is because the mangler has blades on it, and does more damage. But there are only two different melee damages, it's not a spectrum, nor are there several different classes as is the case with melee speed.

Very interesting stuff. I know it's a game and that it is 100% a glitch, but the BR75 has some real life accuracies to it in this regard to firing off half a burst. With burst fire weapons, if you fail to squeeze the trigger for the entire duration of the burst, they will not fire off the full 3 rounds. You could squeeze off maybe a round or two and then follow with a full 3 round burst using a proper length hold. Just thought I'd share that and thank you for the content

There also is a double shot with BR when you pick up ammo for the BR or it is a bug that happens sometimes

Hmmm you listed the bulldog under one of the weapons that double shot doesn't work on but it looks like the shot went out before the thrust was over. The gun shoots so fast anyway idk if it makes much of a difference but it does seem to work

I would like to say that while the rocket double-shot might be broken in MP, in campaign it can help a lot against bosses or heavy targets like hunters or brute chieftains! i wouldn't be surprised if this tech is used in speedruns!

I haven't been able to repro it but I was playing on streets with a pulse carbine and when I chucked down a drop wall, the pulse carbine began firing full auto absolutely melting the enemies lol

I'd love to see most of those kept in. The only ones I'm not sure about, are the rockets, sniper and shock rifle. I'm also kinda mixed on weapon dropping. If these were tuned ever so slightly by 343, it would actually be pretty great for the game imo. Intentional or not, its beautiful. Not every needs to be intentional to be good for the game.

Hey man I Agree completely. But I think there's a bigger principle here - Halo needs more mechanisms for winning 1v2 fights. There's a lot of trading and less room for individuals to shine and be clutch, which are some of the features that made Halo 1, 2 and 5 (very different games!) some of the best competitive experiences IMO. Skill-based shorter TTK mechanisms which don't rely on power weapons are the cornerstone of this. In Halo 1 it was the deadly magnum; Halo 2 had the button combos; and Halo 5 had the high skill-gap pistol + movement. Infinite is great but we could use more "clutch" factor for sure!

Ghey; i always preferred the 'skill gap' and recognized 'depth' to come by way of a teams strat and collective skill; not through some exploit.

This classic melee reload melee is so ingrained in me I try it with every shooter. Overwatch has something similar if you use Reaper. Instead of dbl melee it reloads your weapons in half the time (which is more important in that game).

Loved your speech at the end about trying to incorporate exploits into the game in a balanced way. Too many games try to patch out this stuff and preserve the game to stay exactly as it was on launch… this kills competitive mindsets!

Considering the sheer amount of work this takes to set up, and the fact that you're burning your escape tool in the process, i say we embrace it and see where it goes. If we would've freaked out and patched the BXB / BXR back in halo 2, we'd be talking about a seriously different history today. End of the day, these kinds of "happy accidents" can seriously make a game what it is. I've missed the BXR ever since halo 2, i believe wholeheartedly that it should've become a genuine mechanic moving forward.

Hot take: the double shot can stay on the br, maybe even with other semy power weapons, because it adds something more to an underwhelming equip, the thruster, but should be patched out on power weapons

I say keep it! I've been trying it out in matches with the BR only and some games I had to work for that thrust, some games I felt I was letting me team down cuz I'd go out of my way to go get the thrust. I found for me it only really worked good if I would come by it naturally(off a dead spartan) or only if my team is set up near the thrust spawn it for me to quickly grab it and still be able to help my team. I do believe I was the only one who knew how to do it in all the matches I played. So I'm sure it would be different if both teams knew how. Anyways I like it. Keep it for a bit atleast so more people can try it out.
