Barcelona members have voted to support plans for the club to take out a €1.5 billion loan to fund the ‘Espai Barca Project’. This venture will see the club completely renovate their Camp Nou stadium among other infrastructure.
However, many across the footballing world may be left slightly confused by the club’s plans as it attempts to pull itself out of a financial crisis that has severely damaged its ability to form top level squads. It is, of course, still less than six months since Lionel Messi left the club due to its inability to pay even 50% percent of his wages.
