Some good questions to keep in mind are: 1. Is it kind 2. Is it true 3. Is it necessary 4. Is it edifying 5. Is it proper criticism, or false judgment? I think one of the biggest mistakes ppl make these days is casting their opinions on ppl from an outside perspective. In which case, criticism should never be accepted, or tolerated by a stranger who has never had a conversation, or even knows your name! 👌🏼

I agree that it is hard to receive criticism. I recently learned to practice praying while receiving a criticism, for me to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to have the heart of humility and willingness to really learn if the criticism is true and would help me to be more Christ-like. It is hard but we should be willing to listen and ask God to assess our hearts and help us to be humble. God bless!

I’ve been personally struggling with this also, and what brought me comfort was that I found out that people with my personality type (INFP-T) seem to take criticism more personally and are more harder on themselves than others personality types. Of course our identity as Christians is in Christ, and not man made personality tests. But I was reminded that I am not alone I. The struggle and of Isaiah 45:9, the clay doesn’t question the potter. God chose to make me to be a bit more inclined to be more sensitive to criticism, but His grace is sufficient to help. God bless us all

@@ChristianJune32002 Baptism (water baptism) isn’t necessary for one’s salvation: what is needed is the true acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (including repentance of sin and obedience to Christ). You can read Acts 4:12 and Romans 10:9-10 But I believe all true believers should be baptized. Baptism is a declaration of one’s faith rather than the basis of one’s faith. I believe Desiring God also has videos/episodes for this topic 🙂

I relate to the infp t portion and i don't take gentle criticism well either. The automatic response I would take would be to further diminish myself and assume I'm useless at all things now, but i guess we have to take time to slowly process this and thank God for polishing us. Im just eating the feeling and hoping it goes away soon enough and ive come out of it better for it

I'm 64 and still the black sheep of the family. My mother is a Christian (she's almost 89) but it's always been her that gave me the hardest time. Not just with criticism but with harassment. She knows exactly what to say to me and how to push my buttons. For that reason I don't show up for holidays or birthdays or even visits for very long at a time. And what is the worst part of it, is in my mind, sometimes I don't let it go. The less I go around the better off we are. My family and I really need prayers. My brother and sister go around her a lot but they have her convinced that she likes me the most. Please pray for my family.

I'm bad with receiving criticism. I usually burst out crying. So I ended up cutting off all my friends. I always thought they were mean. I always used to do the most to make people happy so that I don't get criticized and then I could never defend myself because I never knew how when it happened. So I would just cut myself off from everyone and I can see how one can become a recluse this way.

@@ChristianJune32002 no, salvation requires believing that Christ died for you and paid the full price for your sin and shame, so that you can reconcile to God. You must turn from your past, and follow Christ through the Bible and holy spirit within you. Baptism is the proclamation of faith in front of witnesses to celebrate your salvation- joining in your spiritual salvation with Christ together with the family of Christ. It's a representation of your past being put to death, and being born again into a new life with Jesus (because we are born of water from our mothers, and water is the representation of being born once again). Also, remember the theif on the cross was not Baptised and he was indeed accepted into the Kingdom of God. I hope this helps! If you're following Christ, please pray on baptism. Jesus modeled it for us, and it's a beautiful and powerful way to give honor to God. Bless you!

1st step is to realize your pride and ego is contributing to these hurt feelings. Sometimes the criticism is warranted. Sometimes it's not. You need to discern between the two. Gotta get rid of the ego

I’ve been dealing with people in my family who give me relatively gentle criticisms, but are undeserved due to misunderstandings. But these misunderstandings are not due to honest mistake of the criticizer, but from prideful assuming without any consideration of seeking to understand; rather than having a dialogue, they stand from afar and silently assume things with no sense of decent self-doubt. Whenever this happens, I try clearing my innocence by offering an explanation. But in response to this, without refuting my explanation, they simply say that I’m being so defensive and close-minded. I am so eager to defend my own innocence, but they don’t want to listen. I’ve been feeling tormented with this for the past several years. I’ve felt powerless. It’s like they don’t have time to listen to my evidence, but will trust in their assumptions anyway, and have no idea what they’re doing is wrong. I’ve been really struggling with bitterness. Please pray that I would love them regardless, and have patience and trust that God sees everything in truth, so I can have peace in Him.

First of all, I can almost always find some way that criticism about me is deserved, even in a small way, provided the person knows me well enough. If it's a complete stranger I take it more with a grain is salt. Same if someone claims to know my motives (no one can fully know another person's motives). Also wondering if there are people out there who are just naturally better at taking criticism than others. Those people are definitely at an advantage here. The rest of us have to learn I guess lol... It's a process for me.
