Oysi wheelbase from axle to axle is 281mm according to their technical specs; I think the only aggressive frames that get near 305mm is Antony Pottier's flat frames which are 300mm according to Locoskates. It's interesting to hear your advice about wheelbase though; I remember reading some advice somewhere that frames should be slightly longer than your foot for more leverage when pushing but not be so long to cause you to clip yourself on crossovers. I think it was for speed skating or something like that rather than aggressive though. I always thought it would just be best to have the frames the same size as your boot which is why I want to try the flat frames as they are the only aggressive frames that are around the same size as my 12.5 SX boots.

@@MrRillaDutch alot better than what I had. Definately better than the 100s being 300mm. The 270s already fly past my boot by a couple mm. Fell once or twice turning since my feet touched but golden now

Great info, especially the idea on mediums for antirocker, larges on flat, makes sense. Also I know you mentioned freestyle frames in the full Gear Talk episode, you really should make testing those a project soon. I'd love to hear your breakdown on them. I saw Oak City has some Kizer Type X, you should give em a test run!

I'm trying to build my own skates and it's been so difficult finding good, clear information on what size frame I should get and I honestly was not expecting much from this video, but the example given with Slalom skating with a size 8 [which is my size] just happened to be the perfect help. Thank you so much! 😭

I wear most skates largest shell. Genesys second largest cause of width. Given I have clown feet it's hard to find frames long enough. The oyui (wish if I spelt it wrong pretty sure I did) frames I didn't realize were that long though. Figures one size meant catered to the smaller skates. I had quit for a while and came back and had to stop cause I broke my tail bone pretty good. Now I'm looking to get back in and flat is sounding more and more fun. I saw these and initially though of the ground control hi-lo frames off the shima....5s? And wanted them. Saw one size and my bubble was poped. Watching this you've re inflated my bubble. 2018 genesys shima rebuild here we come.

Nice! Welcome back. The Oysi frames might be perfect for you. Otherwise those long K2 frames could work with a rocker.

I’ve also experimented heavily with frames since getting back. At first I tried the stock Valo, which at the time I had no knowledge or skill to appreciate them for how good they are as a stock frame. Then I tried the GC formula 1 which was wonderfully light and got me testing the flat setup as anti at the time was totally foreign to me. Then I went onto the Kaltik flat, which were great but I found the h-block too deep and the weight turned me off from getting over my fear of jumping. I went back to my formula 1 for awhile as an anti-rocker till I somehow trashed those...still curious how I managed to crack the hole for the bolt. Now I’m rolling on the Create Originals OG frame. I’m quite taken by them as they are light (not as light as GC feathers), durable as f and (most of all since I’m a gfx designer) I can create my own custom insert. I do miss the maneuvering of a flat and how it rolled on my streets but I think I’ve found my place in anti’s as my main setup.

I haven’t tried the OG frame yet, but it’s on the list. They seem really good for antirocker setups. Thanks for the comment.

Hi, I have a pair of Next pro110 , and i am looking to buy 3x 100 mm weels wit shorter frame, so i have seen 215 mm and even 205 version of Ego sl or katana frame that are for 100 mm weels . So i was wandering how do they role, and there is so little information about it out there , Can someone shere thoughts on the subject . Curious to see how they compare to 231 mm frame lenght.

There’s not many use cases for the short frames like that I think, probably why there aren’t many reviews. Anything from power slide has been high quality in my experience though.

Hi , Thanks for response. Well they do offer 215 and even Katana 205, it surely must be interesting at least. It is just a bit to expensive for me to try out, since I can’t return tham... i hope someone does this test :)

hello quick question, is a wheelbase of 205mm too short? Thats the wheelbase of the frames that come with my size of powerslide next 100 (which i really want to get). I do urban skating.
@BacktoBlading
@BacktoBlading 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on your foot. I usually recommend a frames length within 20mm or so of your feet. I measure 28.5cm so I aim for 260/270mm. If you’re doing slalom or something though, shorter frames are just fine
