Interesting how the people who got triggered by this offer nothing to challenge the arguments. Being “anti-idpol” for the sake of it is very revealing

Being anti-idpol for any reason is very revealing. One of the biggest part of one's politics is someone's identity. Politics is a part of identity. How are we supposed to overcome social injustices and inequity if we ignore the identities they concern?

@@Kyran1996 See, right there. You've cracked the phrase and figured it out. "Identity politics" is a weasel phrase, concocted by think-pieces and think-tanks. It doesn't mean anything. It's basically like saying: "cold ice". NOBODY says that!

Mostly men watch this channel. Thanks to Emma that’s changing. Apparently men don’t support feminism as much as other topics. Not many watched and/or liked 👍 this video. For men that did watch and/or like this video, we women thank you. We can’t grow feminism as quickly without your support.

I think it's very hard for people outside of one of the abrahamic religions to understand how any of those religions can be reasonably reconciled with feminism. Like if someone says the important aspects of their religion are community, god, and spirituality, like okay fine, but if they say they follow the bible/hebrew bible/quran and the teachings of a traditional church then I don't really understand how that can be reconciled with feminism. Catholicism does not allow for women to be in positions of power in the church, essentially enforcing a patriarchy, and traditional Islam and Judaism restrict what women can wear in order to not tempt men. Other christian churches like evangelicalism in the US are also very regressive in terms of women's rights and feminism. I understand there are reformists, but I don't see how any traditional or literal reading of scripture can possibly be interpreted as feminist, so I think that confuses people who are nonreligious or who subscribe to a religion that, taken literally or traditionally, allows for equality between men and women. Obviously christian feminists excluding islamic feminists is completely hypocritical and problematic, I certainly don't think there is a "best" abrahamic religion for feminism, only a best version or interpretation of each religion. When looking solely at race/country of origin, I absolutely agree that exclusion at the hands of white feminists is a huge problem, and I think the general approach to talking about religious feminists has been a large problem as well.

You are right on the money, man. The Republican Party truly got disgusting when the evangelical community fully embraced it. The party of “free speech” is really just a bunch of people who take enjoyment in being exclusionary and prejudicial. Any religion that believes that eternal hell is waiting anyone who doesn’t accept god, even if they are a good person, is using Fire and Brimstone, and it’s really hot garbage :( All the three main religions are just as gross and awful as all of them, and none of the big three are better or worse than eachother, it just so happens that the Bible and the Torah were heavily edited so much over time because people realized that by saying “interpretation”, they can justify shit…

I understand the point about having a diverse coalition within feminists movements to make it politically more relevant. But Zakaria states, towards the end, that the lack of a coalition leads to instances like Texas. But doesn't Texas prove that, despite having a diverse coalition, feminists must nonetheless adopt some issues as not open to diverse and divergent interpretations? Shouldn't feminists thus have a stringent code (albeit wrt to a few things) in order to avoid attacks such as the one on abortion rights (or other rights in the future)? The way corporations market feminism should be done away with with immediate effect. But what I think should emerge out of a diverse coalition is not an open-ended understanding of feminism which will weaken any particular groups ability to act for change, but to have at least a set of immutable demands which takes more groups into confidence.
