Corima wheels have been ridden to success for many years, from Chris Boardman's Hour Record breaking bike in 1993, where they also made the frame, to the wheels Astana-Premier Tech are currently riding - Corima are industry experts when it comes to shaping composites into super fast bike wheels. We sent Florian from GCN En Français to check out the Corima factory and to see just how they make some of their most impressive wheelsets.

My Corima Aero 47+ wheel set is only six years old, but quite keen to know where wheels come from. I knew the day would come when I'd have to have "the talk"; I just didn't think it would come so soon. They grow up so fast. Thanks for showing this, GCN.

Wheels aside (which are admittedly top of the notch), what makes CORIMA stand out is the DNA of the company. it is a small operation, very human, they love what they do and OK let's admit it is not a mass production outfit. I recently turned to CORIMA for a technical issue with my wheels which needed a conversion, Cathy engaged personally, everything was sorted out so efficiently and always with a personal touch. With the serial Nr. of the wheels, they gave me the impression that they knew even what colour shirt the employee who made them wore that day. It felt as if I was making my clothes with a tailor. How much does that cost? You get what you pay for and if you ever lay a hand on these wheels, you know why they cost what they cost. Also happy to see small operations surviving in a brutal market by being so different and looking actively to innovate. Cannot but recommend so highly of CORIMA

Very cool. It's good to watch this video before finding out how much these wheels cost. Still... $4000 US for the MCC DX wheels is on the eye-watering side. But if you want to show the bling - they do stand out. Personally, I like my bikes heavy - so I have an excuse for how slow I am.

I visited an old Corima factory which is located in the middle of nowhere in Madagascar a few years ago. The guy is not producing wheels and frames anymore but has his own little "museum" just like in the video, it was incredible! Came out of there with rebranded Corima aero wheels which are still going strong, best pair I've ever owned.

@@markj.a351 I had exactly the same thought when I read his comment. I guess we still have to much faith in humanity mate. Honestly I struggle to see what they're trying to say, it's plenty clear and I'll be amazed if those making such comments can even speak English as well as they do in this video let alone speak French. I really hope they don't go to Glasgow, where the English native speaking people are even harder to understand due to their accent and the speed they talk. A comment like theirs is especially dumb when you consider just how many different accents English is spoken with in the native speaking countries and England alone.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzfaq.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
