You guys really need to chop these down into TLDR shorts and time stamp various sections in video descriptions. I just can’t sit thru all these 😢

that is being an adult with primarily hyperfocused inattentive adhd for you. those sectioning blocks are really helpful in reviewing what is said, not to mention bringing along a pen & paper to take notes

I haven't watched it, but seeing Dr. Ramsay is on here is concerning for engagement, I found I can often listen to Dr. Barkley speak ad nauseum. But Ramsay was a absolute chore to get through in one of the other videos I saw.

As a therapist it is really interesting to hear about the coaching side with a therapist present.

ADHD coaching is a minefield atm, with a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon. Whilst good ADHD coaching absolutely has its place, it’s helpful to, as they try to, understand & compare the different trainings, so here’s my summary from a UK perspective; ICF ADHD coach training (the most extensive coach training I’m aware of). This is what the coach said: 20 days of training part time 500 hours practice (= about 2.5 months of working as a full time coach) Vs: Clinical psychology: 3-4 year psychology degree Plus about 3 years working in healthcare after your degree Doctoral courses over three years: About 200 plus DAYS of lectures, plus 3,800 hours in supervised practice as a trainee Plus numerous case reports Plus doctoral level research thesis & viva You can then be registered with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist Then you go on to specialise, often doing MSc in a therapeutic domain after your doctorate. If you can find a clinical psychologist specialising in ADHD, that’s a lot more training for your money :-0

The thing that's missing from this is how little ADHD specific training the average therapist has. Some can be counterproductive. So yes if you can find a specialist in ADHD that's great but many will list ADHD and not have specialty training in it. There's also differences in approach. Some people just do better with a more partnered approach that coaching offers.

just a correction, psychotherapy is a licensed profession and has been for a very long time. In the US and Canada (CA more recently). around 35:00 he said it wasnt licensed, thats not true. It is a recognized healthcare profession. I will be one when I finish my masters degree and take the Licensing exam :)

Only if you can afford 200-400 extra a month for coaching because no insurance covers it.

I find the title card to be a very insensitive and even outright offensive use of the word "Naturally". I wont be watching this one because I don't trust people who use the word "naturally" to imply that there is something better about not being on medication when its literally the only treatment found to be highly effective for most people.

I get your point. But as an undiagnosed, unmedicated adult, 42 years of age, until I can get a diagnosis and treatment I find these videos to be helpful. Cheers.

@@joshuaemerson1980 i think you missed the point alot these skills could be helpful, but until you get actual medication its more likely going to unused and make u feel discouraged in the long run. Ppl w adhd have been told so many times about "natural" means of therapy and feel ashamed we arent trying those instead of it. We know some relative is gonna see this thumbnail and think " oh even scientist are saying there ways of dealing w it naturally" and devalue the importance of meds

@@muhammadsaqeeb5298 I feel like I've lived a half life. I look around at my existence and see abandoned life goals and unfinished projects and feel that meds will be necessary for me to become the person I've wanted to be and felt I could be all my life. But until then videos like this are helpful to me. So I agree, meds are crucial and semantically, "naturally" treating ADHD without medication is like telling a diabetic to treat their condition without insulin. Without treatment that creates stimulation of the CNS my ADHD is a major impairment and my psychiatrist in high school and just recently diagnosed me with depression and it was totally frustrating and the treatment they prescribed made my impairment worse.

@@joshuaemerson1980 im sorry you have been suffering and havent found a doctor whos willing to understand. I think it can helpful just having this knowledge and u have more oppprtunities to utilize it as 42 yo old man, i just hope that you understand that its not ur fault if you have difficulties actually performing these skills bc this phyisological issue not an individual moral failing
