Napping is how I manage a spread and variable schedule and how I survive in the face of all my personal and professional obligations. I know some people think they can't nap, that it disrupts their sleep, or that they're more tired after a nap. I don't want to say those people are wrong, but when I spoken to them, I learn that they don't do it the way I do. Here's how I make it work for me.

(I offer no warranty or support on this shortcut. And, I didn’t make it either. I just downloaded it from a post on Reddit. You may be able to open it up and tweak it for your needs but that’s on you. I see no reason why this should not work exactly as advertised(I use it all the time) but I won’t be able to help you if anything goes wrong. Just FYI - good luck!

This is so true! Naps got me through 20 years of graveyard call center and IT life. I used it as a continuation of my short 4 hour sleep at home... and my bus ride is approximately an hour and a half so that makes it 5.5hrs plus the minutes in the elevator line, 10 minutes in the pantry while smelling your hot coffee and everywhere else I can close my eyes and not process anything. That worked for me. What I don’t do though is set an alarm... yeah thats weird, because it makes me want to wait and process that an alarm is about to go off hahaha!!! For the videos, I’m waiting for the lesson on rhythm. I think this is very important most specially when you don’t know the song’s melody. Thanks again Brad and congratulations!!!

Instead of scott asking "wht day is it" after sleeping dangerously, it should be "uhhh wht year is it? How many years has passed?". Waking up in danger zones really do be like that. And when u fall alseep in the evening when the sun hasnt gone down yet and u wake up at night, its always "is the time night or just before dawn"

I learned to take 7 minute power naps when I was working as an Assistant Doctor during the day and studying for my Swiss Boards at night. My daughter was just born, so I didn't start studying at 9 O'Clock at night, and would study til 2 or 3 in the morning, and have to work at 8 the next morning. No coffee, but I do that now when I take afternoon naps.

Hi! this is great - wow I never thought of that with the caffeine! I am going to try that. My problem is I go for a long nap and then I can't get up - I'm way too tired - and really I think that may be the case- I have a sleep debt and I'm exhausted. So the caffeine trick may help. How do you discipline yourself to get up and move after 20 mins? I'd find that hard I think.... but I wish I could do it. BTW I just found your channel tonight and I love the music videos but this one - I love too - can you do more on productivity/ scheduling?

Coffee! Make your coffee, wait until its temp is right so you can splash it down your throat in one go without burning yourself, then don't do that, it's barbaric, but enjoy your coffee for 2 minutes ... then ... BOOM! NAP! It's an order! :D Then let the coffee wake you up as described in the video. Now you're ready to rock! :D

I remember in the 50's people served coffee in regular 6-8 oz cups they used for tea. The big coffee mugs seemed to get popular as boomers entered the workforce and needed lots of caffeine. Odd how the greatest generation saved the world on small cups of weak Maxwell House.

2:00 The first one on the right is so me(and every one of my siblings) My sleep schedule is 12-1am wake up 9-10am but it is usually distorted by video games which stretch it to 2am and waking up earlier than that for school, around 7am My brother is sleep 2am and wake up around 12pm, And my sister is a total lunatic who will play games until 3am on a voice chat and then wake up super late like 1pm or 2pm I have managed to set my sleep schedule to sleep at 10-11pm and wake up 7am but it is forced, on things like Christmas break it will always go back to my normal, very stubborn circadian rhythm in 3 days or less.

for people with AD(H)D a coffee gives the brain just enough stimulation to be able to filter out the excess of stimulation that prevents them from relaxing just enough to be able to fall asleep or clear their mind ... sounds weird but that's the way an ADHD-brain is wired differently.

The question is: where are you sleeping? If I'm very tired, I sometimes just nap shortly on the floor in practice room, but I'm everytime afraid someone comes in and sees how I waste the rare practice rooms (or just thinks I'm very weird), but I can't think of any other place
@BradHarrison
@BradHarrison Жыл бұрын
There were some couches and padded benches in various lobbies or lounges at my music schools. Napping students were common. The floor sounds pretty uncomfortable. But I think I also might not appreciate someone sleeping in a practice room if access is at a premium.

You get the energy benefit of both. Take the caffeine and go to sleep. The caffeine will start hitting your bloodstream just as you’re waking up and hopefully feeling somewhat refreshed from the nap.
