only time I got a warranty for a PC was when I bought my first prebuilt PC cause I was spending so much on it. Only $100 extra and I had 5 year coverage which I actually used to get a new CPU

The Dell call was everything wrong with these types of calls. Just wow. HP was everything I would expect from HP. Love them. They are full of good eggs. 3rd call was one of the best. Those guys are the dream people you want on the other end of the phone. The delay wasnt the guys fault. They are probably busy. They are probably busy because they are good. Probably not many of them because they are actually trained and hard to find. I am going to use maingear for my next PC. That experience was what I want.

As someone who has worked in sales. I can tell you that is likely a company problem, and not the individual. Where the company says Warranty sales = profit you sell it, or your fired. But you know it's not said like that and it's months of badgering by your manager and being humiliated and put down because your warranty sales % on sales aren't up to par because you have a soul and can't find it in you to sell someone a $150 warranty for 3yrs on a $300 product.

14:10 - dear LTT. I worked as a commercial salesperson in a computer stores for quite some years. This right there was a classical "woops we screwed the pricing, customer wanted to pay 2k$, why are you selling her a PC for 1.6k" from a supervisor probably. So what do you do in this case? Fake the "out of stock" situation, provide an option for 2k and if the seller refuses and wants to opt for the 1.6k one, just offer her the same PC that was advised at the beginning, magically appearing in stock, since the seller was so scarce with information there was no way to tell if he was talking about the same PC. Ezpz, 2 grand in the bag. And the guy probably heard a few words from the supervisor to boot.

As someone that works in contact centre operations and optimisation, the fact that Corsair stopped *all* voice sales, didn't have a message advising they were not taking calls, *and* didn't advise other departments to not transfer to the sales team is infuriating!

HP over the last few years have been great. When I was close to the end of my warranty(less than a month) my ssd on my omen laptop failed. They allowed me the option of either sending it back for an ssd or mailing me one with everything installed, for me to replace myself, since my warranty would be up when i recieved it. Never would have happened in the early 2010s.

I got an Ibuypower system because of this series and I have to say they really fixed their support. I had to send my pc back 3 times due to parts breaking in shipping, and it really wasn’t their fault. The computer had plenty of packing material, UPS actually just made it look like they kicked the box 14 times while delivering it

I tried to pay off a loan and the bank straight up refused to receive the money. The clerk almost begged me to not pay it, because it would fuck up their semester goals. I used to work in a Computer shop. The reason they upsell so hard is because they make a bigger margin on a single one of the several upsells, than they do on the system in most cases. That's why you struggle to get a discount on a stand alone computer, but you can get relatively "massive" ones if your bundle includes the optional extras like Office, anti-virus, extended warranty, and finance.

I used to work at a commission based sales job for a cellphone distributer that sold Bell products and I HATED IT! My manager would constantly call me to the back room while I was with customers if he thought I wasn't ramming an extended warranty down their throat. Some locations in the company wouldn't even sell a product to a customer if they didn't take the warranty. Numerous times I had customers get frustrated that I was wasting their time as they walked out on me, and would then get yelled at for "not making it seem appealing". Extended warranty costed $899. Phone charging block and wire was $175

This really goes to show that a company can totally bend you over a barrel and sell you something knowing full well that it won’t be nearly as good as they’re making it out to be but as long as the salesman on the phone is nice and *sounds* helpful, the less clued-in, less discerning customer will walk away from that sale thinking that it was a wonderful experience. That is, until a few days after they eventually receive the product and realize what a waste of money it was. If you’re totally averse to assembling your own PC for whatever reason, I would seriously recommend asking any family and friends you know who might be able to do it for you or help you with it. The amount of money you can save by carefully choosing and buying each component yourself and not paying some company to assemble and ship the computer to you is substantial. By building it yourself or having a friend do it for you, you can even afford to have a significantly better computer because you aren’t paying for labor, component markups, the company’s rent/warehousing, insurance and all of the other overhead and expenses which are factored into the price of these prebuilt computers. I completely understand being willing to pay for convenience but putting a PC together is not difficult. Anyone can learn how to do it. First look up build guides using the case you have and then look up another build guide using the motherboard you have. That will provide you with all of the information you’ll need to build a very capable PC for far less money than you’d spend with any of these SI’s.

Sure, they may make commission, but normally it’s in the form of a bonus at a non-retail location, so that commission is cut in half and terrible lol companies, especially in the call-center service, are more than willing to punish you instead of assigning you to a different task (which would make both their sales-per-hour increase, and your job more inclined to you). It seems to me like their target is the lower most naive ignorant person. Because any other person will just give up on them after having this ignorant woman go on and on about financing. You don't even have to know anything about PC's to get annoyed. Also if i don't know about PC and starts throwing i7 and 1060Ti etc to me i will be like "ok can you explain me what is that?" Would she be able to explain? No of course not cause she hardly knows anything. So you don't have to be ignorant on PC but also completely naive to buy from her and not close the phone. Is going for the most naive people ever bringing more money than actually selling systems to people? Yeah HP is surprisingly very good at customer interaction. I have an omen laptop and I had issues and the technician came to my house and straight up replaced the faulty parts. No fuss no muss. everything done within 2 days.

As someone who used to be a customer service rep from the Philippines, I can assure you whenever you hear chickens, they're working from home hahaha. Companies would always outsource their CS Rep to call centers in the Philippines.
