How crazy EMOTIONAL is Holger Rune?
Holger Rune is a Danish professional tennis player who’s currently ranked No. 6 in the ATP rankings. But when he isn’t busy winning titles, he tends to behave in ways that can often get him into trouble.
The Danish tennis player gets a little too carried away while playing and everyone was shocked by what he said at the 2023 Italian Open.
Given that this isn’t the first time that Rune’s behaved this badly on the court, it got people thinking: How crazy EMOTIONAL is Holger Rune?

'...busy winning titles'....he's won 4, so far. Any top player will 'want to be No 1, can win an all-court game, hit hard from the baseline, change the pace, play at the net and pumpi his fist'. Nothing exceptional about any of that. He does not possess 'a UNIQUE combination of speed, agility and power' Several players are his equal in those characteristics. Neither is he merely 'a good tennis playert'. He is currently ranked No 6 in the world. That's much better than 'good'. Beating several top seeds in one event, however, is worth mentioning along with $5 M of winnings by age 20. And McEnroe advising against bad behaviour is priceless.

Rune is like this big baby that wants to be the best at everything and get all the attention maybe because he’s the youngest in his family. He’s a good player, but his big baby attitude is also hindering him from performing his best tennis. I’m sure he can learn to be calmer over the time and to keep his emotions in check, and to also redirect his anger to power & energy that bring him to victories. I hope he can grow into a much better player in the future, both on and off court.
@Christian_Bagger
@Christian_Bagger 11 ай бұрын
He’s stated that he’s incredible nervous at the start of each game. He probably needs to get into the right state of mind and get is crank going. Besides… it’s good for any sort of entertainment to have a good villain or antihero. He also seems to be affected by severe ADHD, hence he can’t stand still for 2 sec. How ADHD works is, our brain got a filter for all the information that it receives from the world. If you got ADHD, that filter is checkered, which puts the brain under a heavy load. The brain compensate by shooting out adrenaline to the body, which in turn makes you ready to deal with danger in front of you, like enhanced reflexes, laser focus on potential danger and whatnot… but you’re tense and can’t sit still, nor focus on reading a book and such. ADHD is not a static thing. Some are more affected than others, and if you were let’s say a caveman, it would probably have huge benefits.

I think Rune is one of my favorite players and is probably behaving like this as a consequence for his intense desire and drive to the #1 spot. He wants it so bad that he'll do anything, to anyone, to get his way. Yet at the same time, I also believe anger issues should be a diagnosed mental condition that requires proper treatment to manage. The lack of anger is why track athlete Alcaraz is number one.

why is the media portraying Holger Rune as an enfant terrible?? yes, he has his emotional outbursts on court, but many tennis players do. Holger is just very passionate about his play and he is an emotional person. but he is young and is still maturing in his tennis practice and denanour on court. if you watch and listen to him in the press conferences, he is professional, reflective on his performance and acknowledges his opponents qualities. So, media: don't criticize Holger so much. He is a rising star, maturing in his tennis practice , composure and demeanour. how about praising him for his energy, ambition and determination instead of criticising him?? I would welcome that. Rune is just a childish. He doesn’t know how to control his emotions and temper at all. He’s the same as a young Nick Kyrgios. Who was very Ill mannered, immature, and it cost him big matches. He’s also a sore loser, I get not wanting to lose but come on. Alcaraz who is the opposite of him completely. His a better example of a player who is kind and mature. That’s why he’s in the position he’s in and Rune is trying to reach it and with is mentality I don’t think he can and if he does then it won’t be long lasting in my opinion. I hope that he can shape up before it’s to late. He’s a great player with a great game and potential. His mental has to be better before he can be that. Ask Nick no one likes a Villain for long. 😭😭

To be fair his last interviews are way better, he used to put his foot in his mouth all the time but he improved a lot. On court, well, he is improving slowly. He seems to have problems to control his emotions

Sportsmanship is important in tennis, and athletes are expected to show respect on and off the court. Let's hope for fair and respectful competition in the future. Thanks for watching our video!

I love the emotion, what I don't care for from Rune is the fake fist-pumping he does on every point he wins when he losing a match. It's a cheesy psychological ploy that rubs many fans the wrong way.

This guy has big psychological problems. Mouratoglou will have a big job to teach the kid self-control and composure. (Does Rune have a father? Apparently not. Just asking....)

He does. The father chooses to not be in the spotlight, but he is shown and talked about in other vids about Holger.

Would you like to elaborate on your statements? What makes you claim that? Do you doubt whether we can find angry moments from all other players? Because you're not just making up stories that you can't elaborate on or justify, right? 🤭

@@TennisExtra1 It never works out like that. These tennis players literally never improve. Medvedev peaked when won us open, has been terrible since. Shapo, felix, zverev, tsitsipas. All are pretty much the same level they started off as. They never improve their volleys,... strategies... For many players, just the opposite, they get worse. Look at shapo, terrible results. Rublev, Medvedev = bad mentality. Rune as well - getting worse by the day pretty much. And you say rune just needs some self control .. lol how.. He hasnt changed and wont. He has had Becker as coach and also patrick.. and if those two guys cant teach him to behave.. nothing will. Spoilt
