Just came back from my 5 day trip definitely pretty crowded. Morning is really still the best for ride. I was able to a lot of the big major rides and then take it slow by noon.

We'll be going at the beginning of October as part of our honeymoon, doing the opposite, and going to Disneyland on the OBB days and DCA on the non OBB day, so we're definitely worried about the crowd levels. We'll have Genie Plus, so we're trying to figure out the best strategy to use for our mornings. Your videos definitely help!

With Genie+ you’ll be fine. Walkways may be a bit crowded at times, but Genie+ makes going on rides a breeze. Just make sure you go on rides without Lightning Lanes in the mornings and late evenings. That’s going to be key.

4:22 We risked waiting to ride haunted mansion, we waited 1h27m and it had an emergency shutdown , we left to ride RISE and ran back to only wait another 50m , we NEEEDED to ride that lol

hi thanks for all the vids last trip to disneyland was 1970 Thanksgiving day , the pirates of carabbean as cool and ate at the blue bayou it as almost empty as was the park if you have time plase look at vids othe priates but at dianey Shanghai it will knock your sox off !! it was amazing and they have senior rates both in Shanghai and Hong Kong $35 bucks

We are visiting in October and our strategy is to visit DCA ON Oogie Boogie Nights to take advantage of lower crowds, then hop to Disneyland for the evening! Sounds like this plan should work!

You’ll definitely have less busy DCA mornings. But it’ll be busier in Disneyland that evening. If you get Genie+, though, you’ll be okay.

This year I went to the parks a week each in Feb, March, May, and was there this last week.....I'd say crowd levels were equal or a little more than I went just after Spring break in May. It certainly felt very crowded, but it also seemed like rides broke down more often on this trip than my others. Also, for some reason last week posted ride times were not in line with reality, 10-20 minutes longer than posted times (even when the rides were functional the whole time of the queue). Alien Jack is the worst jack :D. p.s. the Lightning lane for Haunted Mansion was insane the whole time I was there. It reached Splash Mountain quite often, but that observation included frequent ride closures for the ride.

Of this month? I don't think the days will be terrible per se. The park selections are just what everyone else will be doing, so anticipate higher crowds than pictured here. Since Thursday is an Oogie Boogie Bash night, anyone who isn't going to Oogie Boogie will be at Disneyland, then vice versa on Friday. Everyone who didn't go to DCA on Thursday, will be at DCA on Friday.

Glad you were able to show the wait times on a weekday! Do you happen to know how busy the parks are on a monday in october? I wasnt sure if it was best to get genie+ for a 1 day park hopper ticket. Trying my best to utilize the time i have there! ⏳️

It shouldn’t be too different from this, being a non-Oogie Boogie day. I imagine most folks will plan to be at DCA on Monday since Sunday and Tuesday DCA closes early. I will do another one of these videos in October because I know October is when a lot of schools take Fall breaks. So I’ll definitely be doing another crowd check closer to your trip. I would definitely get Genie+ just to make sure you can get the most done.

I'm going to Disneyland in two weeks, it's a Thursday, OBB day, we are park hopping one day with Genie Plus. Would you recommend starting in DCA or Disneyland? I had people recommend me to start in DCA since you can get a lot done in the morning and maybe even finish by 11am and it will start to get crowded in the afternoon. But will we risk long lines in Disneyland throughout the rest of the day? We are mostly interested in the thrill rides. Thanks for your videos! Super helpful.

With Genie+, I wouldn’t worry too much. You’ll be able to get done most everything you want to do. If you only have one day, starting in DCA is really the only strategy that’s going to work since it closes early. And consider that at 3 PM the park is going to get really really crowded with OBB guests. So you definitely want to be out of there by then. Is Disneyland going to be busy? Sure. All the non-hopper guests will be in that park, and you’ll start to see a huge influx of hopper guests at Disneyland around 3 PM and forward. But with Genie+, you won’t wait very long. They pull guests from lightning lines at an 8:2 ratio roughly. Meaning for every 8 lightning lane guests they only wave forward 2 standby guests. It’s heavily weighted toward lightning lane.

I was just there Friday-Monday and it was hooooot! The crowds weren’t terrible but the lack of shade in some queue parts and in densely populated areas made it unbearable at times.

Yes, almost all of our queues are outdoors. September is our hottest month of the year and it can be a lot sometimes.

It takes about 15-20 minutes to get through everything once the first preshow starts. Each show is maybe 3 minutes max, but there’s another segment with a line between the second and third shows.

My wife and I were just here Monday through Wednesday and it seemed very busy. My wife was able to qualify for a DAS pass so it made our lives easier but without it, we would've waited in lots of lines. Haunted Mansion Holiday consistently had a huge wait and kept breaking down all three days.

Breaking down is really unusual for that ride, but I have been hearing it’s been having issues. The holiday version is always popular. If we don’t rope drop it, we don’t ride it. That’s just a fact of life this time of year. 😕 Glad you had DAS. I usually recommend Genie+ (which DAS is, just a free version that ALSO works on non-lightning lane rides. So definitely better), for anyone visiting to help maximize time.

@@SoCalDisneyDad yep we've been plenty of times during Halloween time before and this time was definitely the most we've seen Haunted Mansion Holiday down. Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and Matterhorn were also down pretty consistently while we were there.

Keep in mind that I assume the only reason crowds are low is because everyone without hoppers was in DCA being a non-Oogie Boogie day. DCA was sufficiently busy that same day. I started in that park that morning and all the popular rides had long lines less than an hour after rope drop.

I don’t think so. I believe my family is blocked out that day. But that’s sort of a good thing for you. It means 3 of 4 passes are blocked out, so should be lower crowd levels. As for mosquitos, I haven’t noticed anything above normal at home. And haven’t ever seen any at Disneyland (not that I’m usually looking either).

If you had to rope drop one ride the first week of October (since Space Mountain will be closed and Haunted Mansion Holiday is going on) would you do, Haunted Mansion or Pirates first? Or what would your strat be? Those rides are a must on our trip (and Rise of the Resistance but thanks to your videos we won’t be trying to rope drop it first thing). Thanks for your videos! I’ve been studying them like I have an upcoming test 😂

Haunted Mansion hands down. The line shoots up to 60 minutes within an hour after park opening and if you don’t have Genie+ the only strategy is to rope drop it. Pirates will still be 5 minutes when you get off.

I don’t ever see him on the app as a character to meet. Do I need to go to guest services and ask if he will be out that day? What is the strategy of meet and greet characters like Jack and Sally? Is it better to meet them in the morning too or after golden hour?

@@Vigilantestef Jack and Sally have a meet and greet by Pirates. Last I saw, the line was fairly long. So earlier is probably better. The app says the first appearance is 11:45 AM. But they’ve been known to arrive early. Stitch in the other hand is harder. I’ve heard that he makes an appearance for the Disney Visa Card Holder special photo op in DCA, but those characters rotate. So it’s not always him. You’re best bet is to ask a cast member hanging out near one of the other characters. They all wear unique outfits and have a big pin to ask them about characters. You’ll notice them because they’re kind of like body guards for the characters.

Doing Disneyland on opposite days of Oogie boogie Bash? And California adventure on days of Oogie boogie bash, and then leave when it closes early and head to disneyland? thanks so much! love your videos so much!

Yes, I’d recommend DCA as the starting park on OBB days as folks without hoppers will be at Disneyland all day. Disneyland will get busier after 6 PM, but that’s the best case scenario for those days with a hopper.

Standby wait times are usually fairly accurate. I don’t know why some people say it’s exaggerated by 50 to 100%.

They are…generally. But wait times are dictated by red cards that get sent through. And if you had a malfunction that delayed the ride for just 10 minutes and that red card was stuck waiting, the posted wait could be longer for the guests that come after, but the line isn’t really that long. By the same token, if a popular ride is posted low, because it was, a flood of guests can rush over there and now it’s not that short anymore. It’ll take a new red card that has to go through the whole line to fix it. Which could mean 30-40 minutes of guests getting in line before the new time is updated. Wait times are helpful guides, but I trust my experience gauging a line by sight better. I know how long a line should be based on where guests are in the queue because I’ve waited those lines many many times.

Our family of 4 are going in mid October. I know weekends are busy, but is it manageable on a Saturday in Disneyland?

I think so! Something to keep in mind is that 3 levels of annual passes are blocked out every Saturday in October. That means fewer locals in the park. Now, generally, Disney does that because they expect higher than usual crowds from visitors. But hopefully it means you’ll have a really great day. Every Saturday in July had 3 levels of passes blocked out, and when I went on a Saturday (I have the highest pass with virtually no blackout dates) it was a dream and really great wait times throughout the park compared to usual.

That’s the pattern this year. I can’t remember if that was the case last year. I do know that they had a Saturday OBB last year for D23. But that might have been an exclusive Saturday event and wasn’t normal.

I've heard WDW has been struggling to bring in crowds lately. There've been reports of it being lower than normal wait times there too. Or so I've heard. I haven't actually researched it. Disney is getting too expensive.

Do you think they will close Haunted Mansion for the queue refurbs? First time to Disneyland in MANY years, coming in February. My most favorite attraction on the planet and I can't bear the thought of not getting to ride HM.😢

My guess is yes. They’ll close it in January at the end of the Christmas season like usual and then just start on the whole refurb. Hopefully I’m wrong, though.

What can you do when you have a group of people and one infant? Can the group of people wait in line together and 1/2 of the party go on the ride then when they get off the ride pass the baby to them and then the other group can go ? Plan to go in October appreciate any advice.

Yes, Rider Swap is available for those that wait out with the baby. That person and one other person can go ride through the Lightning Lane the second go around even if you don’t have Genie+

@@steve-odworkis591 Yes, you have to go up to the cast member at the front of the line and ask for rider switch. They will scan the ticket of the person waiting out and one other individual who will ride with the person who waited out. For example. If you are a party of 4, two adults and two children. Adult 1 rides with Child 1 while Adult 2 waits out with Child 2. And then after you swap Adult 2 can ride and Child 1 gets to ride twice. If you have a group larger than four people, only one individual gets to “ride twice” with the person who waited out. What the cast member will do is basically give you and one other guest a free Lightning Lane for that ride. Everyone else needs to sit out on the second ride through.

Mornings are great in Galaxy’s Edge. Really chill atmosphere with not a lot of crowds. By Noonish it gets fairly busy. If you’d like to go to Oga’s without a reservation, around 9 AM is an excellent time. Though maybe not the best if you’re planning on getting alcohol. I usually just get there non-alcoholic drinks and had an easy time getting whatever I wanted quickly during the morning.

@@gracethompson7552 Sometimes they have a SoCal ticket that gives you 3 visits over the space of a few months. Unfortunately, the current ticket ends on September 28th. You can theoretically still buy it, but you’d have to use all 3 days in the next two weeks.

Is the first day of Halloween usually crowded? How about the first Halloween weekend? I didn't know that Halloween starts in August at Disneyland!

That’s new. It’s early this year. Usually first week in September. The first day is generally busier because of all the new food. And the first day of Oogie Boogie is also super popular. Generally, mid-September is the best time for Halloween because October is Fall Breaks and it gets busier.

I was there yesterday on a Sunday. We had a decent time and got plenty done. Disneyland will be busy being an Oogie Boogie Bash day. I’ll have a video up on Wednesday which was our morning in DCA. And another up on Friday which was our afternoon at Disneyland on a Sunday. Granted, you’ll need to make up your minds before then I suppose. But something to check when I get them posted to see how Sunday’s are.

Thanks! Monday looks like it’s sold out! Our only other option is Tue, Sept 26. What would you recommend btw Sunday and Tuesday?

@@fonzerelle I’ll be there on Tuesday, the 26th. If that’s any consolation. 🤣 A weekday is probably going to be better than a weekend. For Disneyland park only, Wednesday is the best option being a non-OBB day everyone will be at DCA. Like in this video. But Tuesday will most certainly be better than Sunday.

The Disney blues are real. It's terrible. Kudos to you for still watching. I still can't even look at pictures of Aulani because I want to go back so bad. We were watching a show on Disney+ and they went there in an episode and I had to immediately turn it off. Couldn't handle it.

Do the same rides really break down multiple times a day? Or do the employees just want a break? Lol

If someone drops a hat or whatever on a trackless ride they have to stop the ride to get it. I'm not sure about MMRR, but with Rise, that means they have to shut it down and completely reboot it. And the reboot process takes 40 minutes minimum.

Have three day hopper tickets and was planning to do the exact opposite of where you said to go on Oogie Boogie bash days 😆 So glad I watched this! I’ve appreciated all of your advice and hard work you have done on these videos! Thanks! What do you recommend rope dropping at DL if Space mountain is closed? 🥲

Since you have a hopper, you’ll definitely want to start at DCA on OBB days and start at Disneyland on the non-OBB days. Without Space Mountain to go to, you could consider Indiana Jones or Mickey and Minnie’s.
