I always enjoy seeing the old equipment being used & being shown the old methods of how things used to be done. Thanks for sharing.

Very neat watching this video. The old timers that used to run this equipment will all be gone soon. I hope enough younger people learn so people won't forget. This is part of history. It's part of the industrial revolution that built this country. I hope that the technology is not lost.

we can hardly imagine it: every mechanical solution was an enormous relief from the everyday hard manual work! Today a lot seems "cute" ... Thank You!

Excellent demonstration! I remember a farm my grandfather rented for years that had a crib set up exactly the same way. Interesting to see it in operation. We picked with a Minneapolis moline uni harvester and had a exterior grain elevator with a homemade speed jack hooked to a WD allis chalmers.

Damn, this brings back memories. We have a more modern version of this style of corn crib, the stand alone sheller is 540 RPM PTO driven, the Mayrath elevator is electrically powered, and the Massy feed grinder is is a portable unit......

Nice video. The lost art of twisting the belt from the John Deere to the corn sheller has been lost. By half twisting the belt before attaching, keeps the belt from jumping off the pulleys. I ground a lot of feed on high speed with a John Deere A.

Absolutely, that art with the belt has been LOST already..!!

I'm thinking that "bucket" elevator/wagon hoist arrangement would be at grain elevator or feed mills and not on farms.

I'd have to agree....seems a little complex for a farm 75 to 100 years ago

@@mnmountainman9343 And it would be running a whole lot faster. I do realize for this demonstration the slower version is more practical.

@@mnmountainman9343 We had one but it ran off an electric motor and much faster. But the concept was the same. Even had a center dump in the crib but also had a lift for flare box wagons before hydrolics.

Cool video, but I always thought a corn crib was simply the opens sided bin they stored the whole cobs in…this is more of a corn shelling machine and elevator demonstration

We had a belt drive silo blower that we used as a kid, 1964-65 dangerous because the speed of the belt, tractor was wide open

It kills me the level of designed failure these days. Farming should NOT Have TO USE D.E.F. Before d.e.f there was died diesel. It was untaxed deisel. Untaxed diesel died..humans DIDN'T. It was just colored.
