We live on a sailboat and travel the world; so how will our kids get to experience “normal” relationships and experience the sweet exhilaration of a first crush?
After a two-year online relationship, Jack finally gets to meet his long-distance sweetheart, Lilly, and she spends the next five weeks sailing the South Pacific with us! In this episode we sail from Tahiti to American Samoa and then on to Tonga, and share with you the day to day life of sailing and being at anchorage, and then finally round it all out with a very informative Q&A at the end.
Our show is always family-friendly and chock full of the outrageous adventures of raising a family while sailing around the world. It’s filmed, edited, and produced exclusively by the six of us on our boat, the Privilege 585 Catamaran (and Anna still manages the back office from her college dorm room in Texas). So grab the family and gather ‘round the TV, and spend some time laughing and adventuring with the Z-Crew!

Kudos to Lily’s parents. She is so mature and well spoken. Many her age would have struggled for the courage and composure she so readily demonstrates being under the eye of the camera and away from her own family. Very nice.

Kudos all round.Jack and Lilly's relationship looks so good. I had no idea how to talk to women when I was that age. All-male boarding schools from age 9. We moved to different cities and countries every two or three years (military). All-male college at university and 2 out of 300 female engineering students in my year. Women were strange, but very interesting and wonderful creatures and I didn't know how to talk to them. I think that it's wonderful that two young people can be so open about their feelings for each other.

Ahh, Young love... This whole video made me so wistful for my younger years. (Listen to me, I sound like an old man. Ha!) But seriously, They have such a sweet story. I really hope things work out for them. I know how hard long distance relationships can be. That said, I know of more than one that has ended up in marriage and a lifetime of love and family. It just takes commitment, perseverance, acceptance, and making the conscious decision every day to love the other for who they are and not who you would like them to be.

Short story time.... When I was his age I was actually in love with this girl, blond hair, blue eyes, great body and most importantly an amazing personality, I'm 31 now and have never felt that feeling since. So basically I lived and worked in France and she lived in the UK she would come over once a year with her dad for 2 or 3 weeks. I'd be so so happy the months running up to it and when she got there you couldn't get us apart. When she left it was horrible it truly was, it's sad to say but I was like a lost sick puppy. This went on for 5 years ish and in the end it just couldn't work out. With the knowledge I have now I'd do things alot differently. I just hope they don't suffer like I did because it looks like they may be soul mates. Your parents are awesome for doing this even tho they know they will have 2 miserable teens to deal with in a week or so 😂 I hope they get their own boat in a couple of years and make a KZfaq channel about them sailing around the world, that would be pretty amazing. Loved the video! I'm also a sailor, I live on my boat and am planning on sailing the world, just want to find the right person to do it with. Not many girls in the UK are into this lifestyle.

I have been watching you now for a month. I must say that I am impressed with the way you manage your time and respect your individual relationships. I also admire the operational excellence that is demonstrated through the many things that occur each day. Keith's ability to manage engines, generators, sails, routes etc is exemplary. I speak from my experience starting as a radar technician in the Air Force, then a computer technician in the phone business and owner of many large RV's which we would drive from Canada to California and back each year. You have to accept that you need to survive what ever occurs on the road or, in your case on the seas because there is no one else who is going to deal with those issues while you are out there. Bravo and well done. Be safe and have fun!!

Looks beautiful! And the sweet time with Lilly and Jack was so nice. Thanks to him for letting us in on that young love a little. Thanks so much to each of you for sharing your amazing journey so we can escape with you for a few minutes. AND have a good laugh. Y'all are so funny! If you have more seeds to try, get rid of the mold on the soil and find something to use as a dome over the planters, like the top of a plastic bottle or plastic wrap or even an overturned and secured glass jar, making a mini greenhouse for the little seedlings. When you plant them water them w a little warm water then keep covered w that plastic for sev days to around a week AFTER they have popped up through the soil. They should stay damp and dewy under there. And hopefully they will be stronger. Just mist the soil lightly when you uncover them for the first few weeks and try to keep them out of the direct sun and weather till they get bigger. Best Wishes and much love from Texas to the Zatara Crew!!

24:07 - "....not fair...." LOL! Oh the joys and pains of full time cruising. Jack, long distance relationships are tough but worth it. My wife and I dated for a little over five years and most of it was long distance. And it was back in the days before email and video chat. For two and a half months the only communication we had was what ever we could fit on a one page fax once per week. Being apart like that can help you to get to know the other person better than if you were together. As for me and my wife, like I said we dated for over five years before we got married. And that was 22 years ago. So don't fret it too much. Yes it sucks being apart but in the end you'll be better off because of it. (It also has the added bonus of making it super easy for me to take a trip with the guys or a solo vacation from time to time.)

My close friend's dad is from Tonga. He saw all the ships coming into the harbor and left with a sailor for over 17 years. His family thought he was dead or missing, then came back and they had a huge celebration for him. He recently passed, but we had a ton of cookouts with him where he buried a pig for days and cooked it to perfection. Even my girlfriend who is vegan loved it. He lived in a man made "tent" in the back yard of his family's house haha. Great guy and would love this content.

Such great videos! Loved seeing the young love between Jack and Lilly, and the family team work from everyone. As young newlywed liveaboards, this makes us excited to have kids, do some cruising, and spread the workload, haha! Keep up the great videos, ya’ll!

the thing I love most about this family, is how supportive & loving they are of each other. it's harder to achieve this kind of love & commitment on land. something about being out on the water & having to rely on each other every day for survival. makes me think what a failure I was with my family, so, I'm so happy when I see a family doing it right, because it gives me hope for humanity, that new families might be inspired by such love & dedication.

Keith and Renee, my husband and I are hugh fans of yours! I just found you all about 2 weeks ago. Thank you so much for the time you spend to allow us to follow you on your amazing journeys. You are great at what you do! Don’t ever let stupid people hate on you. I totally believe that they are just miserable people that are jealous. I wish we had had this opportunity when our kids were young. However, God had other plans for us, as we were in full time ministry for 34 years before being forced to retire early in life because of health reasons. Prior to that our favorite vacations were cruising There is nothing like being on those beautiful bodies of water that God created. Once again, thank you for letting us be part of your world! Fans forever, Eric and Cliffette Campbell
