Its absolutely breathtaking how many uncovered ruins there are in Afghanistan and its surroundings. In most of locations like Greece or Macedonia most of those ruins are at the bottom with many of them being rebuilt as purely Roman when Roman Empire came. Afghanistan may held a lot of unique untouched Greek sights yet to be discovered. It is a pity there is not a wide research on the spot due to the security issues.

I think the problem that most people on this comment section have a problem reconciling what conquered actually means. Did various empires take over parts of Afghanistan, either through force, or coercion or diplomacy? Of course. Did they control every single inch of land, had the loyalty of the majority of the peoples living there? No. Each and every invader faced some sort of resistance, eventually leading them to turn tail and run

Another Fact Check: "Alexander Eschate" has been unearthed for a while now.
@Aceo_0
@Aceo_0 7 ай бұрын
The reason we say Alexander couldn't conquer Afghanistan is because, he came into country through capturing Herat continuing towards Balkh and Badakhshan (Southern Sogdia, were he married Roxan in the bank of Amu river) and upward towards Northern Sogdia( where he conquered his eastern most fortress and chnaged its name to Alexandria Eschate), from there he went all the way back to Herat and then going around the eastern parts of Persia towards Kandahar. He never conquered central and eastern regions as his Phalanx were not capable of fighting in mountainous terrains (that is why Pontus remained unconquered).

Alexander conquered Afghanistan....He defeated porus, turned him into a vassal state, that explains the indo-seleucid empire. Modern pashtuns weren't the original inhabitants, they were most likely the descendants of nomadic pastoralists in central asia, lived a life interdependent on persian empire & hence their language. They got intermixed with greeks, turks, mongols and Iranians through conquests at different time periods. At the time of ghaznavids, they were referred to as mountain tribes indulged in robbery and interceptors of travellers throughout that region. Persianised turkic and iranian tajik kingdoms were based in modern day afghanistan and they hired pashtun tribesmen as soldiers...in that way after centuries, they came to power in the form of small medieval dynasties. Throughout the history...pashtuns are known as tribesmen and have committed various atrocities on innocent civilians in modern day paskistan, and northern india.... M@ssacring innocent people under ahmad shah durrani, abduction and ensl@vement of women and children....check how heera mandi in paksitan originated. They were also indulged in sl@ve trade until 19th century. They also committed crimes at the time of indo-pakistan war in kashmir. They were behind the g3noc1des of hazara people in Afghanistan. Some of the pashtun people trace their ancestry back to jews, greeks... Some even attribute their lineage to the Scandinavians or germans. They even claim there are references of them in old greek and indian scriptures.

Alexander didn’t conquer Afghanistan. He married into influential bactrian (afghani) tribes. No human can be considered “original” since we all came from Africa. At the time of the Ghaznavids, by your own admission, the Pashtuns were intermixed with Greeks Turks, Mongols and Iranians, so the ghaznavids were turk/pashtuns themselves. This one’s funny. You say theoughoutnhistory the Pashtuns were known as tribesmen, yet they had their own empires/kingdoms. As for modern history, seems as if your knowledge of todays pasthuns is limited to what you see on tv. There’s a very large diaspora of pasthuns all over the world, doing all sorts of things yet you’ve lumped them all into one biased grouping of “tribesman”. Do you have any actual proof of any atrocities committed in the undo-pak war, or are you just blowing smoke? Heera mandi was created by the Mughals, who originated in Uzbekistan, so nothing to do with Pashtuns. Do you have any proof to your claims of genocide, slave trading? Small criminal occurrences do not count, since every nation/people/race has indulged in these crimes. I’ve never heard of Pashtuns saying they trace their lineage to Scandinavian or Germans. I have heard about the Jewish ancestry, and the fiction of supposedly being of the 12 th Tribe of Israel. Dna test however show only one tribe of Pashtuns having the same genetic markers and the Jews. So, basically, most of your facts were BS, especially since you seem to be ranting with no actual proof of what you said. A sane person would atleast have a small basis of evidence to back their claims, but considering you seem to have a bigoted view of pasthuns, i wouldn’t call you a sane person. 😂

@@kyriakoszeibekis4829 Alexander the Great and his Macedonian forces arrived in Afghanistan in 330 BCE after defeating Darius III of Persia a year earlier in the Battle of Gaugamela. Following Alexander's brief occupation, the successor state of the Seleucid Empire controlled the region until 305 BCE, when they gave much of it to the Maurya Empire as part of an alliance treaty. The Mauryans controlled the area south of the Hindu Kush until they were overthrown in about 185 BCE. Their decline began 60 years after Ashoka's rule ended, leading to the Hellenistic reconquest by the Greco-Bactrians. Much of it soon broke away and became part of the Indo-Greek Kingdom. They were defeated and expelled by the Indo-Scythians in the late 2nd century BCE.[58][59] The Silk Road appeared during the first century BCE, and Afghanistan flourished with trade, with routes to China, India, Persia, and north to the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khiva in present-day Uzbekistan.[60] Goods and ideas were exchanged at this center point, such as Chinese silk, Persian silver and Roman gold, while the region of present Afghanistan was mining and trading lapis lazuli stones[61] mainly from the Badakhshan region. Let’s hope you can comprehend simple English 😂. I realise you’re a Greek and have pride in Alexander, but after him the Greeks barely held the Bactrian region 😂

It's all pure speculation. We know he tore up the P, but there are no historical confirmations that he tore up the D. Just modern speculation because he didn't want to shag some whore in his youth, supposedly. For all we know she simply didn't make his pp ignite with excitement. He also had a close bro friendship. I challenge any man not to break down if they had a best friend suddenly die and who was practically their family member. It's not really common this day and age, but the closest example are modern day soldiers who may as well be certified family members which has always been the case for armies through out history, to gain that sibling like bond and the shock of death of them being there and suddenly not anymore that comes with it. Dare I say it's wishful thinking at best by some people that the world's greatest conqueror was a homosexual or bisexual. If he was in fact tearing up the D, he did extremely well hiding it, or historians over the ages erased it from history.

@@johnbilchuris9728 you can yawn all you want. Pretending you are bored by facts does not change anything. "The Roman province of Macedonia consisted of what is today Northern and Central Greece, much of the geographical area of the Republic of North Macedonia and southeast Albania. Simply put, the Romans created a much larger administrative area under that name than the original ancient Macedon". So how can you claim it has nothing to do with Greece? You are just flat out lying. There is a reason you had to change your name to "North Macedonia". Notice that the Albanians don't pretend they are Macedonia nor claim any Greek culture for themselves just because they too were part of what the Roman Empire called "Macedonia. Just like you ridiculously claim Alexander the great despite the FACT that he was born in Pella. Last time I checked that's in Northern Greece. The centre of the Macedon kingdom. You can call yourself whatever you want......but just because you call yourself something does not make it so. I can claim to be a billionaire all I want....but unless I actually have billions then it's just not true. And your country is not Hellenic in culture, and nor can it lay claim to the name Macedonia as that was clearly centred in Northern and central Greece. Your ancestors were just a colony.

Ahmad Shāh Durrānī (Pashto: احمد شاه دراني; Dari: احمد شاه درانی), also known as Ahmad Shāh Abdālī (احمد شاه ابدالي), was the founder of the Durrani Empire and is often regarded as the founder of the modern Afghanistan.[9][10][11] In June 1747, Ahmad Shah was appointed as King of the Afghans by a loya jirga in Kandahar, where he set up his capital.[12] Primarily with the support of the Pashtun tribes,[13] Ahmad Shah pushed east towards the Mughal and Maratha Empires of India, west towards the disintegrating Afsharid Empire of Iran, and north towards the Khanate of Bukhara of Turkestan. Within a few years, he extended his control from Khorasan in the west to North India in the east, and from the Amu Darya in the north to the Arabian Sea in the south.[14][10][15] Soon after accession, Ahmad Shah adopted the epithet Shāh Durr-i-Durrān, "King, Pearl of Pearls", and changed the name of his Abdali tribe to "Durrani" after himself. The Tomb of Ahmad Shah Durrani is located in the center of Kandahar, adjacent to Kirka Sharif (Shrine of the Cloak), which contains a cloak believed to have been worn by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Afghans often refer to Ahmad Shah as Ahmad Shāh Bābā, "Ahmad Shah the Father."[9][16][17][18]

There is so much misinformation in this "documentary", it's not even funny. Alexander was MACEDONIAN and conquered the "ancient greeks". "Ancient Greece" as we call it today were various tribes of Pelasgian peoples that were bound by the same language (most likely something closely resembling today's Albanian language). Alexander's mother was from Epirus (modern day Albania). I could go on and on. But never mind Alexander as he's a legendary figure and no one can tarnish his legacy. The term ancient greece is relatively new and no one living back then would describe themselves as greek. In fact, Homer mentions "greeks" once in all the Iliad and mentions Illyrians, Dardanians, Paeones, Macedonians, Trojans, Achaens, etc hundreds of times. About "greece": Greece is a modern state created in 1821 through assimilation through the adoption and adaption of Koine Greek which was the lingua franca in the Byzantine empire (Eastern Roman Empire), much like Latin in Rome and the Western Roman Empire. The adapted Koine greek which is spoken today along with the implementation of the orthodox religion have assimilated the modern populations in Greece. In fact, Greece's constitution mandated that anyone could become greek provided that they spoke the language and adhered to the orthodox religion. What resulted was that minority populations like the Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian, etc adopted the "greek" identity. The only native population of today's modern Greece that are direct descendants of the ancient population are the Arvanites (otherwise known as the Albanians, Arberesh, Albanesi, Arnaut, Arber). Simply put, today's Greece is comprised of a mixed population and that the state was was engineered by Germany, Great Britain and Russia. One does not have to look further than their flag resembling the East India Company flag, DNA evidence, and the fact that their first king was King Otto, a Bavarian from the Austrian Empire. In fact, his wife was instructed to learn "greek", but she ended up learning Albanian because that what the people at the time spoke. This was nothing but assimilation through myth and the imposition of a language and religion for the whitewashing of history and to perpetuate propaganda and manipulate history. Enough of the lies. The truth is apparent with the slightest scratch on the fragile facade. See for yourselves. This is a documentary by greeks and from greece shedding light on the above: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g59prchimpespnU.htmlsi=uARsWTirzeToIcxj
