If you read the novel 'Tarkin' you can see that he always had suspicions of who he was and always said certain things that Anakin would know about to see his reaction. By the time of Episode 4 he probably would have figured it out, whether Vader admitted it to him or not.

It's also possible that Palpatine or Vader revealed to Tarkin that Obi-Wan taught Vader, without mentioning his specific identity... but in the end I agree he probably figured out the specifics..

You are referring to Palpatine's plan after his original plan was foiled after the events of Episode 1. Dooku wasn't even an element of Palpatine's original plan. Palpatine only reached out to Dooku after Darth Maul's death, which was an unforseen circumstance. Palpatine didn't plan on Maul dying. He had actually fully anticipated that Maul would kill Qui-Gon, Obi-wan and force Amidala to sign the treaty with the Trade Federation. At that point, Palpatine would have continued with his whole Seperatist crisis thing. Whether or not the clone army was factored into this....well Im unsure of that, since Dooku wasn't originally factored in as well. Not until after Episode 1, with Maul's death. I'm not sure when Sifo Dias was contacted. I was under the impression that Dooku had contacted Sifo Dias...so if Maul had lived and thus Dooku never became a pawn of Palpatine, I'm not sure how Palpatine's original plan would have continued.

He did want Anakin to go and kill Grievous as it would have added to his fame and given him credit of ending the war allowing Palpatine to use him as propaganda. The Jedi war hero who helped wipe out the Jedi who tried to betray the Republic and end the war. Throughout the Clone Wars Anakin was one of the only Jedi seen in a good light by citizens of the Republic, he had plenty of fame thanks to Palpatine insisting he go into certain battles etc.

It would have also allowed for the Chancellor to say that Anakin was one of the loyal Jedis, as he was away when the plot to 'kill' him occurred.

The kill plot would not have happen at correct time if Anakin would been sent to Utapu.. Since it was Anakin who triggered the kill plot as he was the one to bring the sith lord news to the Council (Mace Windu) An by correct time I mean when most skilled Jedi masters and jedis overall were scattered across the space, making them surrounded by clones thus weakened and trapped eventually. Palpatine knew Jedi Council would reject the idea and Palpatine purposely wanted Anakin to lead the "attack" as Anakin was rejected by the Council, this made Anakin more angry towards the Council and more to Palpatine's grasp..As one of Palpatines favorite motto: Everything is proceeding as I have forseen

Over the course of the Clone Wars, it felt like Sidious seemed to want Anakin, but wasn't sure if he would last against Dooku. I'm thinking instead the inhibitor chip had a line of code that set aside Anakin (or anyone else Sidious seemed fit) to be excluded from Order 66.

I think it basically comes down to Sidious giving the order individually. To everyone else, he says "Activate Order 66", which translates as 'Kill all Jedi'. To the 501 he likely didn't have to activate O66 at all, since they were bred specifically for loyalty to him--and, subsequently, Anakin as the general who most often lead them--and Sidious probably just told them that the Jedi had become a rogue insurgent force that needed to be decimated and that General Skywalker/Lord Vader would be their commanding officer during the assault.

Or probably Palpatine said "There will be someone expecting you there and he will be your new commander, his name is Vader" Clones knew that if the Supreme Chancellor told them that Anakin was legit then they would know that he's no longer a Jedi. Dumb ass chip

As far as I know it wasn't a case of Palpatine or Plagueis creating Anakin, but instead the force reacting to their growing power and creating something that would bring back the balance. It was before the Battle of Naboo that the Clone Army was ordered by Master Sifo-Dyas (including the inhibitor chip) so this was before Palpatine first met, and Plagueis (although the stories about Plagueis are no longer canon, they are currently the only things to go off of until they officially define the events prior to Episode 1) first heard of him. This means that the only way that I can see the inhibitor chip having anything to exclude Anakin would be for it to be altered by Darth Sidious or Darth Tyranus after they eliminated Sifo-Dyas. Personally I think it makes more sense for Sidious to simply tell the 501st that Darth Vader would be leading them and not to kill him.

Unfortunately the timing doesn’t work for this theory. The clone army was commissioned 10 years before anakin joins the jedi order by master sifo dyas. The plan to destroy the jedi was created and put in place long before palpatine knew plagueis and him were successful at creating life out of the cosmic force. Anakin was a later adaptation to the plan and sidious picking up his old mentors research into becoming immortal through the medichlorians.

@@josephcraffigan8489 yes, exactly. AOTC is when Obi-wan finds Kamino. They then tell them it had been 10 years since the Jedi have been there. AOTC is set 9-10 years after TPM. Literally search it up. The clones started being created around 33BBY, and TPM is set in 32BBY.

A good portion of the clone troopers would ignore the command regardless of their training. Why would they just kill the people they cared about and fought with? The chips made it so they were forced to kill the people they cared about.

True, they own it now, but most fans have been a part of Star Wars a lot longer than Disney, and so we have a sense of attachment to it and have come to enjoy it, each in our own way, most of us for many years. You can imagine that with something we've cherished for years, we don't exactly like when the new guy(Disney) comes in and just starts changes things however they want. Thus, the backlash we see today over the new canon.

I still talk about the Yuuzhan Vong War and Luke's New Jedi Order. The Expanded Universe was so fantastic. I wish it was still in production...

Because we won't know the full extent of what was going on after RotJ until then. Right now, it would be a very boring answer. The 2nd Death Star still blows up. Maybe they're too busy killing Luke to escape in time. If they get out, they'd be scrambling to keep their troops from disbanding. They wouldn't have the support or resources to continue the war. They'd likely go into hiding while the bulk of the imperials negotiate peace. It's unknown how much Palpatine knows about Snoke, so anything further is blind speculation at this point.

I believe I can provide some. WARNING: WALL OF TEXT BELOW. If you only want the simple answer, scroll to the bottom. How I reached it is in the wall of text. I would guess you are closer. By necessity, the execution of Order 66 would have to be lightning-fast, and by design, much of that would in fact be just so. Nearly every single Jedi in existence was either serving as a Jedi General, or in the Jedi Temple, with the exception of a few that might have been on other errands, or like Rahm Kota in Legends not actually in command of Clone Troopers. Nearly all Jedi in active service would of course be the first targets...naturally there were a few exceptions such as Ahsoka, (sorta) Yoda, and also Kanan Jarrus, (Who's master Depa Billaba gave her life so he could run.) but the vast majority would be wiped out then. At the same time that very evening, within a few hours of Order 66 being given, the Jedi Temple was attacked by Anakin and the 501st. Now, a few things about what would logically have been the case in both situations, given the competent commanders no doubt present. Firstly, the Jedi in the field. Even when Jedi, such as Yoda, were able to kill or evade their betrayers, they would still need to escape. The Clones themselves would essentially control all means of off-planet transport, as Jedi Fighters would be landed at Clone bases and need their Hyperspace Rings to leave the system, and of course their shuttles and other ships are essentially the same. In short, they were all trapped rats waiting to be hunted down by the Clone Armies. Secondly, the Jedi at the temple. Trapped rats in a much smaller cage. While the Temple had more than a few ships present, there were Clones who maintained and operated them. Assuming the Jedi tried to escape past those...and those Clones really wouldn't prove much of a challenge...Anakin would likely have Republic Cruisers above waiting to take them out. Don't forget those hyperspace rings for the fighters, and the larger ships are easy pickings for Venator-class turbolasers. So it was really just a matter of how long it would take to kill every Jedi in the temple. That's a lot of Jedi to be sure, and not inclined to go down easily, but it could not have taken more than that one night. Especially since the temple is burning mere hours or less later, when Padme looks at it. Next element: Time between the sacking of the Temple and Anakin's going to Mustafar to wipe out the Seperatists. Next day, max. Hyperspace time is the one unknown here, but remember, Anakin's traveling to Mustafar and wiping out the Seperatists is taking place at the same time as Obi-wan hitting the Temple, interrogating Padme, and Padme choosing to go to Mustafar as well. Some time would pass in which Anakin is waiting for orders, but how long exactly do you think he's just going to wait on that ashen corpse-heap waiting to be told what to do? This is still Anakin we're talking about. So I'd guess one day, maximum. Palpatine would be partially kept busy with Yoda during that time as well, which is the only reason he would ignore Anakin for that long. He waits for a few hours, Padme shows up, Clash of Heroes ensues. Next datapoint is the time it takes for Palpatine to reach his charred not-a-corpse. Remember that Anakin is only staying alive with the Force here...and he's got almost less to go on than Maul did. Luckily of course, Palpatine would make the trip to Coruscant as fast as Padme and Anakin did, within a few hours. He leaves as soon as finishing the fight with Yoda, which I would guess started before Kenobi's fight with Anakin, despite the syncing the two in the movie. After all, Yoda doesn't have travel time. (But Cruallassar, Palpatine said himself that he went to Anakin because he sensed that Lord Vader was in danger! Yes Cruallassar, but we all know what Palpatine does...he foresees things. The future is their domain, not just the present.) Once Palpatine arrived within two or three hours of Kenobi's departure, he took AniVader back to Coruscant for treatment...a few hours again...and fixes Anakin up. Now, how long would it take for all that biological repair? That is where the most vague point is. We know that Bacta is insanely quick...which is good, because it would take weeks for that kind of healing in real life. Still not exact though. Luckily, Vader didn't actually get healed, he got augmented with his new suit. How long to build and set up that? My guess is a few days. Custom parts fabricated, every single piece tailored to Anakin's body and physiology, contacting the local Sith Tailor for a rush job...well, he probably has capes off the shelf, so an hour for the shopping trip there. All in all, yeah, 3-4 days. So we have this wall of text. Final conclusion is this. Order 66 itself was a literal overnight job, done by the following afternoon. I would cut off the Order 66 part of the timeline when Obi-wan and Yoda redo the emergency transponder to say "STAY AWAY" instead of "WE ARE SAFE AND TOTALLY NOT EVIL" Like I said, that afternoon. However between Mace's death and Anakin's burning, three days. Mace's death to the Rise of Lord Vader as we know him, one week. Thoughts?

I would say closer to 8-12 days. After all we don't know how long Yoda and Obi-wan spent on Kashyyyk and Utapau respectively, dodging the clones and finally managing to escape before meeting at the temple. It could have easily been 2-3 days. Not only that, and while I couldn't find any canon info on short notice I do know that in legends Vader's surgery process lasted several days, which means from the moment Vader entered surgery to the time he took his first steps in his new suit the entire process could have spanned 3-5 days alone.

He was a smart man, yeah. From what he saw and put together he heavily estimated who Vader was. but Tarkin had no evidence. But it's one of those moments where it's like "Yeah someone better answer that phone because I fuckin' called it"

I'm pretty confident that i have been on youtube longer than most, and over the course of 11 years i would have to say this is the dumbest tradition i've heard of. most of the citizens didnt kno Palpatine was a sith lord, he was actually a popular well liked Chancellor whom they stood behind as he always appeared to be nuetral, if u notice he made it seem like he agreed with Padme and the Peace Loving Senators about wanting to end the war and bring peace and freedom, while at the same time also appeasing the War Mongerers like Lott Dodd of Trade Federation and Burtoni of Kamino that he wanted to continue the war, so he made it appear to the galaxy as he was ust a regular Good Man who brought peace and stability to the galaxy... if u notice the Senate and the people appluaded and were happy about the New Empire being formed, it wasnt until years of being under their tyrannical rule people started to realize how evil the system had become.. the Empire still had a imperal Senate until the Death Star was completed,,,then got wiped away...he had to disguise the Empire Dictatorship as a Fake Democracy at first so people wouldnt rebel, basically most people saw the Empire as an Upgraded Republic at first until later once planets started suffering and being oppressed under their rule..
