I am not a Methodist. Just a born again Christian from Canada. But...AMEN BROTHER ! You speak the truth boldly. We need much more of that in the modern day church. We are undoubtedly living in the time of the Laodicean church of Revelation. You are 100% correct. The churches and denominations overwhelmingly serve to please and bend to "the culture". Instead of obeying and surrendering to the will of Christ. Its like the vast majority of modern day churches are cancerous and what you are describing is just one of the "tumours" that is evidence of this sickness. I have heard before that the Christians in Africa are far more faithful to the word of God than we are in the west. We need to pray for them that God will strengthen them and use the African brothers and sisters for His glory. Thank you Pastor John. God bless you brother. Stay strong in the Lord. Thank you Pastor John for your clear and concise updates on the current situation regarding the UMC and the GMC. We left the "fray" along time ago, but are now wanting to see the currrent situaition after the much delayed General Conference of the UMC 2024. Could you please explain why Rob Renfroe and Tom Lambrecht are still part of the UMC? Didn't they see the writing on the wall? Now, after the UMC General Conference 2024 they are wondering what to do next? We don't understand this.

The UMC in America May as well write “Ichabod” across this decision.

The UMC has been ignoring scripture since their founding in 1968, when they started ordaining women clergy, so I'm not sure I see a huge difference between the new heresies and the old heresies. I do wish the pastor who posted this the best, though. It's hard to see what you believed in devolve further into depravity and insanity, and I know his suffering is real and his indignation is justified. Try to remember that human nature is totally depraved. We don't need help, we need salvation.

I did not leave the UMC. The UMC left me. I still will follow the bible and God. The UMC has chosen not to.

And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. John 6:65-66. "Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” Revelation 22:11. If these former Methodists now apostates aka goats persist in their unscriptural ways, then let them simply go their way. That is better than they stick around and metastasize the falling away that is already infecting Christ's church. As for this old Methodist minister in the Wesleyan tradition, he is my kind of preacher. May the love of Jesus surround him and fill him with the peace of God during these trying times.

I was raised in the Methodist Episcopal Church which became the United Methodist Church. In 1977 I joined the Roman Catholic Church. I am still Catholic and very blessed to be there. When Pope Benedict XVI created the Personal Ordinariates, in which Anglicans(Episcopal) and Methodists (who branched off the Anglican Church) could become Catholics and maintain their English traditions of worship, I joined the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. Our English church patrimony has been preserved in our Liturgy and we are united with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Let’s fulfill Christ’s prayer, “That they all may be one…” There is a place for Protestants who are offended by mainline denominations’ apostasy to turn.
