Basically all issues should be debated among a church and decided. My personal reason for not going to church anymore. Women pastors. It is wrong. Women leading a church is wrong in basically any regard. Yet women have become the leaders in this culture. This is why the culture is looking at war.

What kind of fool believes ancient mythologies? He's the kind of man if he was born in Saudi Arabia, he would be praising Allah. If he was born in Thailand he would be a Buddhist or an atheist. If he was born and ancient Roman times he would be worshiping Roman gods, same in ancient Greece. If he was Persian In ancient times he would definitely be Zoroastrian. Because he was born in a country that's predominantly Christian He's going to buy into that. That's just the way it is with people who are capable of believing stuff like that.

So you welcome all sinners to repent, believe and put their faith in Jesus Christ to become adopted in the family of Christ. Romans 3 states in part "the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ for ALL who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now JUSTIFIED by his GRACE as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus". So it's good enough for Jesus Christ but not good enough for you? I am deeply praying for you that you will see the grave error in your message, repent and begin preaching the wonderful gift of Grace and Love of Christ Jesus available to all people.

The bible is dangerous because once you read it, you’re accountable for what you do with it. That’s why Jesus’ teaching his disciples in parables was an act of mercy toward unbelievers. Because they didn’t understand them.

The Bible the Word of God is Not Dangerous, it’s how we have fallen away from the Truth. Your premise started 100s of years ago. We are a people living under the Old Testament Covenant. We don’t realize that We are living under the New Covenant. And if we do realize it we are still putting the Old Testament Covenant Practices ahead of the New Testament Covenant. When we apply our beliefs the Old Testament Covenant Supersedes the New Testament Reality!

To ALL who believe Jesus Christ as our Savior have the right to become children of God. God forgives ALL our sins: past, present, and future. Forgiveness comes as a total package; God does not forgive us partially but wholly. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Nothing, not even our future sins, will condemn us. There are no church pews filled with sinless people to think other wise is self-righteousness or pride. The Bible teaches that, after salvation, we continue to sin (1 John 1:8; 2:1). We won’t reach sinless perfection this side of glory. God imputes or accredits the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ to the believing sinner while he is still in his sinning state (Rom 3:21-22). All churches should be welcoming and affirming. Praying for you that you would read the Bible and see what it says about sin and Gods Love. If you don't sin then Jesus died for nothing.

I think John Wesley does have some iffy areas in terms of the Bible. At least I’ve heard. I haven’t had as much of a chance to look into it as I’d like.

I think it's telling that despite the title, Holbert never actually addresses what the Bible really says, conveniently cutting off the passage from 1 Timothy four verses early.

This is possibly one of the best overviews of the situation, but would like to add to it. The church was far more focused on internal politics and worldly issues than it was doing any type of God's work. It simply evolved into another platform for a toxic, town hall meeting that fostered divisiveness that is so pervasive in our current world. Our church went GMC and just like that, membership started growing and by no small amount. People not only wanted to practice their faith, but wanted to be part of a bigger, successful group of people making a difference. And more so, you hear no lamenting of the UMC nor is politics or divisive topics even mentioned.

Thank you Pastor John for your wonderful words of wisdom. We should not be surprised by the response from the world and the rejection of the Bible. I believe that it is the root of all of the confusion and conflict and collapse of our mainline churches. We are warned so many times that people will pick and choose and only accept what they want to accept, not allow the Bible to change their way and mind, but to attempt to change the Word of Christ to the way of life in the world. Any so-called "minister" like "Reverend" Holberg who claims that the Bible is "dangerous" is not of God but a wicked wolf in sheep's clothing; false prophets that were perfectly explained in Matthew 7:15-23 and the second chapter of 2 Peter. I'm thinking of hopefully becoming a local pastor of my church (or re-opening a closed but still standing Baptist church in a town near me) only I'd take my duty seriously and not do it like what that apostate is doing (and this is from someone who was raised Baptist, left church when I was 10, was a lukewarm Christian in my teens to early 20s, but now am in a Congregationalist church after slowly but surely coming back to Christ). _And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God._ Luke 4:12 KJV

Almost all of the old mainline denominations in Canada have gone apostate. The Presbyterians, Unitarians, Anglicans, Methodists, etc. As a result, they are all swirling the drain. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2 Timothy 4:3.

Dear Pastor, This whole thing is very disturbing to me. I am a Roman Catholic and have been longer than you have been alive, and thanks to God, I will die as one. I am certain that most Catholics take no pleasure in what has happened to the Methodist Church, even to the SBC. Don't lose heart. I have been saying for about 15 years now that the times they are a'changing and for the good. I see it more and more in many different ways. The PCUSA is consequently correct, in their theological error. If the novel Christian theological opinion of double predestination is true, then it follows that individuals have no sufficient freewill, outside of God's efficient determinism, to repent or amend how they are fashioned. Hence, there is no real freedom to act in any contingent image and likeness, of his or her own efficient Creator, for good or for evil. Thus, God predestined some souls to good, and some souls to evil, contrary to their individual will and His "eternal goodness." So why bother repenting, or having any vital change in spirit (nefesh), if "God made me this way," that is, if you hold fast to double predestination? (Ezekiel 36:26, 2 Peter 3:9) As ugly as it may appear from the outside, these are the theological implications and consequences for departing from the one, holy, universal, and ecclesiastical church that Jesus Christ established. I remember the great schism, I left PCUSA then, and I remember when they said Gay marriage wouldn't be required, just allowed for certain churches. The pastor at the time, also left the church, said the exact same thing. That which is tolerated will become accepted and then, eventually, become required.

The PCUSA is (and has been) basically apostate. Not much more than a club for people who have a form of godliness but who deny the power. It’s a waste of time and resources to maintain an institution that has been worshiping everything under the sun except the God of the Bible.

A little yeast leavens the whole dough; we need to cling only to God through Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Scripture - lest we are destroyed (Hosea ch 3 v6 & 7).
