That Dany guitar was a gift that Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) gave her on a tour that they took to The Warning as a support act as a gesture of admiration and fulfilling a promise she made more than 20 years ago.

In 2014 when The Warning were only 9, 12 and 14 years of age, did a faithful cover of Enter Sandman, filmed it for their grandparents to show their progress. Over 20 million people and Metallica saw it. About 7 years later Metallica invited The Warning to REWORK Enter Sandman with Canadian singer Alessia Cara. Keep the lyrics, but turn the song upside down and inside out. Make it their own. The Warning and Alessia did the music video separated from each other because of the pandemic. They did a beautiful haunting video. Once the restrictions were over The Warning and Alessia did get a chance to perform Enter Sandman together. Here they only have Alessia’s prerecorded background track. The Warning ever gracious, Dany always mentions Alessia introducing Enter Sandman in their live performances. You love Pau. So did Kirk Hammett who thought Pau “kicks maximum a..!!!” when she was 12 years old! You should see Pau do the child’s prayer in the music video. It will haunt your nightmares forever.

Check out the video they did for this version. As noted this was in response to an invitation from Metallica to Alessia Cara and The Warning to provide a cover for the Blacklist. From receipt of the invitation to finished product they only had 10 days to do it since The Warning was not originally invited until Alessia got permission from Metallica to collaborate. The beginning of this is more in the style of Alessia, the middle the style of The Warning and then the finish back to the original style. What made this even more special is that it was during the travel restrictions with Alessia in Canada and The Warning in Mexico. The music video came shortly afterwards and was also done creatively using projected images of Alessia since travel was still a big problem. By chance because of alphabetical order this is actually track one of the Blacklist.

BTW: The way to pronounce the venue is "tee-at-ro" (roughly). It simply means "Theater", so "Teatro Metropolitan" is just "Metropolitan Theater", or as most people in the US refer to numerous such local venues, "The Met". 😋

Metallica requested that everyone participating on the Blacklist album do whatever they wanted to the covered song's arrangement, only they had to use the original song's lyrics. The Warning along with Canadian Grammy-winning Pop singer Alessia Cara took Metallica at their word and restructured the song. Most other participants on the album project opted for straight covers.

This version of ES was done in collaboration with Alessia Cara for the Metallica Blacklist charity album released September 10, 2021. The music video was recorded at an abandoned textile factory in Monterrey, Mexico The Warning's hometown. You are going to LOVE the prayer done by Paulina (Pau) and the three part, ascending recitative. Since covid restrictions and mandates were still in place, Alessia, who lives in Toronto, couldn't make the trip to Monterrey, so Matt Squire who produced the song took over her computer remotely from the studio in Monterrey to record her vocal parts. The same reasons she is projected in music video instead of physically being there. Though I think having Alessia as a projection works a lot better artistically and esthetically than if she were actually there. A couple of other things to consider are the behind the scenes recording the song in the studio and recording the video at the textile factory.

10 days. From the time they got the invitation to participate in the Blacklist project for Metallica until the final product was due to Metallica they had 10 days. This was in early 2021 during the pandemic lockdowns. They were in Mexico, Alessia Cara was in Canada, and the producer was in LA. They completely stripped the song down to the bones and then built it back up. first as a pop song to suit Alessia's style/voice, then Warning-fied it. They got the producer down to Monterrey, recorded Alessia's parts basically over Skype, recorded all the instruments, mixed and mastered, and sent it off to Metallica all in 10 days.

Metallica/Lars asked bands to do something different so they turned this song upside down and literally backwards. The original starts with that iconic riff, here they end the song with it. The original ends with "Take my hand", here they start with it. Then the incredible dynamics of starting with single picked notes in the first verse, the power chords in the 2nd, the soft lullaby and then building tot he iconic finish. Plus the harmonies! I bought the original Black Album on release day and I love this version probably even more. Truly fantastic.. And they somehow put this together in like a week.

I’ve always loved the shot during the original riff when Dany and Ale are changing sides of the stage. That view of Dany with the lighting effects, dressed in black, playing the white Gibson Explorer and with the scowl to me is like Dany channeling her inner James version. It’s quite striking.

Good reaction, starting to think about it and I propably have more suggestions than days left for this ride. Hope you also start digging into some older material, suggested the 2014 cover and XXI Century Blood already and still keeping my fingers crossed that the last 13 days will be the full 'Queen Of The Murder Scene' concept album. However if you don't mind to also get to know the girls a bit better and hear some great music then add their TedX talk from 2017 to the list. About 20 minutes long with three songs from the first album and some very insightful commentary about their early careers in between. It still amazes me how well aware and levelheaded they were at the ages of 16, 14 and 12!

The Warning really showed off their creativity with this one: they incorporated Alessia Cara's vocal style, went with the creepy lullaby theme, and reversed the song! And did it in a week, working remote with Alessia whom they never met before, and they never collaborated with anyone before. Can only imagine Metallica's reaction when the ladies submitted this song.

DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Completely agree with you on covers; if the artist doesn't make it their own, I might as well just listen to the original. Post Modern Jukebox does this to perfection, and Pomplamoose does a pretty cool thing with their mashups. And then you have the "one-offs" like this and Disturbed's Sound of Silence.

The Warning's version is equal to the original. In fact it is far more creepier, and I love it. You really should give the official video the girls a listen because there is a lot of nuance not captured live. #GetWarned! Look into Martirio, Narcissista and Que Mas Quieres all three are sung in their native language.

I love this cover and how they made it their own then gave it back to Metallica at the end. A lot of their songs will give me goose bumps and this is one of them. Ale's backing vocals in this are incredible.

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I just never knew I needed ES in half-time. kI love this one. Since you like punk and other versions, one of my favorite takes on ES. First, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but when I heard this version, I literally jumped out of my seat !!! The Edge, the Attitude, THE DRUMMS... This song is on Metallica's tribute album "The Metallica Blacklist", And it's great and all (Alessia Cara is the singer with The Warning), but I love Dany's voice more. Exactly the song is different, because Metallica when they made the Metallica Black Album, they demanded that the guest artists who could not do an identical cover, they had to create their own version and the girls of The Warning together with Alessia Cara (Canadian Pop Singer) released this beautiful version

this was a special remake of tghe song; thgere is no studio version...I heard that they were asked to do their own version of this song, and tghat's what they did...they played original when they were pre-teens and got the attention of Metallica and they went viral...

Best version of the song. I really can't listen to the original version after hearing The Warning's modified Enter Sandman. Dany looks amazing with the white Explorer here. Maybe one day there will be a concert with The Warning and Metallica with James coming out to play this song with The Warning.

The first part is softer since they wrote it to sing it next to Alesia Cara, a R&B/pop singer, so they had to use a smoother style at the beginning so it would fit her, then the second part Dany takes on the vocals and Alesia is at the chorus next to Pau an Ale and now you can see how they change the arrangement; then the finish, a tribute to the original riff, but again: with their own touch, and I like since it shows how Pau is way a better drummer than Lars Ulrich! 😅
