Like what was said, despite pushback and protest, wargaming doesn’t seem to be taking any action to change things. At least with Gaijin, (warthunder game devs) they listened and now the game “overall” is so much better than what it used to be.

@@MajesticDemonLord I feel like you could say the same for the Battle of Tsingtao, the first use of naval aircraft in warfare (either generally, or at least by the Japanese), or any number of the battles Japan was fighting in China that led up to how they conducted the attack on Pearl Harbour. This video had a very specific and select objective of what to discuss, and it did so effectively. Is more context always welcome? Sure, so long as you're also okay with a longer video. But I don't think it was vital to make the point this video was making.

Japan had the best torpedo design in the world during WWII. The U.S. had the worst torpedo design in the world during the first year and a half or so of WWII. It took until mid 1943 for the U.S. Navy to finally have a reliable torpedo. The new U.S. torpedo was still not as good as Japan's, but it worked.

The Japanese engineered a solution that works, and I love it. If America had tested these solutions, they would've had torpedo nets or something similar in place to stop the torpedoes short of their targets.

Excellent! What you describe with the vane control system is related to a technique called PID (acronym) to reduce over-compensation. Worth looking up on Wikipedia or some such.

Striking head-on caused the firing pins to slam too quickly and jam. A glancing blow had a better chance at detonating because the warhead had more time to set up properly.

Watch some video's with experts talking about bonsai tree repotting, which is very difficult but weirdly interesting. Same with companies replanting full sized tree, scooping them out of the ground with a huge machine and planting it somewhere else in an equally massive hole they dug beforehand, with the huge machine. Oddly satisfying to watch. If you want to go down a rabbit hole, check out Post 10. Dude unclogging drains on flooded streets and it is instant satisfaction. Also check out letsdig18, who is in the earth moving business. Digs massive ponds, builds dams, fixes drainage issues and rescues stuck excavators. The last one went viral. It had sunk up to the rear deck, almost submerging it. So satisfying to see it get pulled out with nothing but expert skill.

Nobody can deny the Japanese were top of the torpedo game in the inter-war and early-mid WWII timeframe. Even after the US got the Mk14 to actually detonate it was still 2nd fiddle to the Longlance.

The Brits were doing pretty well also, the Mk VIII torpedo was effective and reliable. Of course nothing rivalled the performance of the long lance, but on the other hand there were risks involved with carrying torpedoes stuffed full of pure oxygen.

It's not believed the bomb actually hit in an engineering space adjacent to the powder magazines and the ensuing destruction ignited the magazine, rather than a direct magazine hit.

Isn't there also a component where the bomber needs 30 seconds to a minute of steady course in order to settle the torp gyros before the drop? One of the challenges the bombers faced in the attack was flying over the buildings and trying to find enough clean air above those turbulence-inducing structures during the run in. Torp bombers at sea don't have such problems because wind over the open water tends to be much smoother.

2:05 anyone notice the white stripe on the tail of the plane there? Not ecpecting everyone to know this but that's one of shokaku's birds. So the japanese used the queen of torpedoes her will makes the torpedoes run true🤣🤣🤣 Before anyone says it. YES i know that the 5th carrier were not responsible for the bomb and torpedo damage the ships sustained they attacked the airfields im doing this for the funzies. Could be worse though at least it isnt the typical red stripe that we see pretty much all the time. Which is akagi. Though who doesn't love akagi?

I've played fair bit of world of warships but it just isn't fun. It's absurdly grindy and kills just aren't satisfying. Nothing feels like it has any punch behind it, which is extremely disappointing considering the caliber of weapons being used.

A lot of people like to talk about the long lance but Japanese aerial torpedoes were the most advanced at the start of the war. The US didn't catch up and exceed this until late 1944 to 1945 amd even then they didn't have the modification as standard unlike the Japanese.

Torpedo fins aren't providing lift so there's no corrective force, and if they were, the associated drag in water would be horrific. Maybe breakaway wings would achieve both a parachute effect and help with stability, but it seems preferable to use one system for stability in all environments than two systems for different places.

OR you could release the torpedos while on an up/rising trajectory which would cause the torpedo to enter water with a very shallow angle and low speed - no modifications required on the torpedo. With both the change in aircraft release trajectory and torpedo modifications I bet they could have achieved less than 5 m of sinking below the water line.

The Japanese did not invent this method of torpedo delivery. The British Royal Navy developed it and that includes the use of the wooden fins to assist in the delivery. The development of this method by the Royal Navy was actually begun in 1938. The raid on the Italian fleet at Taranto proved the method of delivery worked. The Japanese Navy just made a few minor refinments and went from there. The Japanese Navy actual practiced the method in a bay in Japan with the same depth as Pearl Harbour. The Germans also looked at this method of delivery after studying the effects of the Taranto raid. I would like to suggest you do a lot more research on some of your subjects before making a video which does not cover the actual facts and history. The history of the second world war was one my History Majors when I did my degree. I speciallized in the cause of the conflict as well as the naval side.

Considering that the plan to attack Pearl Harbour was in the works before Taranto and that others have mentioned that the solution the Japanese came up with is different to the British one,possibly with no knowledge at all on how the British did it,your bashing is nto exactly well placed. Mind you,he did in fact cover the actual facts,because the numbers are still there,along with the method used,which is independent to the debatable backstory. Some of y'all in here be treating this video like it has no educational purpose at all.

planes in the sponsor is bad example, they tend to teleport, land or take of vertically (not the modern jets, mind you), fly through mountains or achieve 15km ranges on rockets because they are high up over mountain and the rocket's propellant or effective range/trajectory is not a factor in this arcade vegas' style game where you pick your seat and pull the level to see if you hit...

Deceptive title for clicks is receptive. Bad. It's clearly not the EVs that are at fault, even from the description of events in this video, it's greedy companies not following safety procedures and letting an ice vehicle start a fire. The batteries actually don't contain all that much oxygen, and are significantly less likely to ignore than petrol our diesel tanks. In fact the EVs is a couple of those ships have been completely unburnt and still nearly salable. Don't believe the anti-ev lies: real world data shows very, very clearly that EVs are far safer than ice vehicles in terms of fire.
