He is one of the anime characters I love the most. Great character development - from a selfish bad dude, to be an antihero, then become a hero and even better character than Goku. Goku evolves usually due to circumstances but vegeta finds his own way to evolve. Just an awesome character. Love him.

Crazy how Vegeta and Goku rely on each other to make each other better. Goku seems to always find the path to strength first but Vegeta studies it, wants to understand it, to wield it better than Goku. At least that's how I see his character.

I don’t care what anyone says. I still think that Vegeta and the whole royal family are direct descendants of Yamoshi. There are easy ways for this to happen and it explains their above average battle power (for a Saiyan. The divine ki was probably diluted after intermarrying with evil Saiyans) and Vegeta having god ki. The theory is that Yamoshi, knowing that his family would be in danger during the Saiyan civil war, had his children in secret. After his death his family began to intermarry with the victorious evil Saiyan. This passed on Yamoshi’s divine ki and, as a consequence, boosted the Vegeta royal family’s battle power eventually allowing them to take over the Saiyan race and establish a monarchy. As for how Vegeta, given his history, could be a descendant of a good Saiyan it comes down to nature vs nurture. Vegeta lived his whole life with the belief that he could either kill or be killed. This philosophy, pushed on him by Saiyan culture and Frieza, stuck with him for most of his life. However, as soon as Frieza was defeated Vegeta’s began to break away from how he was nurtured and began to act on his nature. He became a caring father and guardian of Earth not because it was what he was taught (he was taught the exact opposite) or because of what people told him but because, deep down, Vegeta is a good person. He was a good person who was raised and, for a time, was evil. That’s why and how Vegas could be a descendant of Yamoshi.

I think vegeta actually training and matching up to Goku actually make sense cause his character has always been like that from the start Goku turned into Ssj 1 becuase of rage , training and mainly because he is a main character but vegeta actually trained the fuck out of his body to achieve that level same goes for Super sayian God and same goes for Ultra ego Thats why my fav character in db is The prince of all sayians

They explain this (kinda) on a training arc. Goku and Vegita were training with Whis and locks them in another dimension that they needed to learn to sense God ki. Headcannon, that allowed Vegitas body the ability to start taking in ambient God ki, and then his body started producing it's own. He earned his God ki step by step.

Vegeta has always made himself stronger after seeing a level achieved. SS1 he saw Goku do it so he knew he could. He knew the limits of the ascended SS form (trunks) so he created Super Vegeta but had he seen what gohan was capable of before hand he would’ve unlocked SS2 earlier. He saw that SS3 was powerful but had many drawbacks therefore when Beerus smacked Bulma Vegeta unlocked attained that power without the need to transform. Bottom line is Vegeta can see you do it he believes he can achieve that form or a variation of it

I always felt that it just made sense that simply training in a divine realm around beings woth divine emergy would allow him access to divine energy.

Goku is basically a prodigy, while Vegeta always had to put in that work.

I remember that lovely time just before, then after Battle of Gods wherein we had no idea what Super Saiyan God truly was yet. There was art of Goku and Vegeta as Super Saiyan Gods, the former with red hair and the latter with blue hair, standing back to back, facing down a bunch of Beerus', because we also didn't know if Gods of Destruction would all look like that or not. The same way the Supreme Kais all looked somewhat alike. I really loved that old fan theory at the time that each Super Saiyan God would be a different colour, the same way Goku and Vegeta have different SSJ4 eye colours.

Vegeta doing it on his own fits him way more than the ritual. The ritual fits goku because of the support of his friends and family and the need to save the earth

Plot twist: Future canon will have retconned this and it will have turned out that during Goku's transformation, there was a tiny bit of back feed of the god ki. Which in turn has made it so that all those who were part of the circle can also achieve god form now if they try hard enough. Admit it. It fixes it all, while giving potential growth to more characters. Goku is just the first one to do it, via the method being directed at him. Vegeta second, since he was the second most powerful in the circle (likely?). And then so on and so forth by power levels and growth do the rest achieve theirs as well in time. Gohan however will probably take more time than Trunks on this while Goten pulls up the rear. Pan is the curious one, since she shows huge potential from the start; flying as a baby. Videl... will be the first Human (only?) to attain it as well; because Pan was still within her when the ceremony was held. But the feed back is so weak at that point that it will take her the longest to attain the power within her now. Of course, this is just my own ideas of what could be instead.

I head canon that the ritual opened the door for everyone that took part and the godly training from Whis would allow them to fully realize the transformation.

I think Vegeta experienced the energy during the ritual and then figured out how to recreate it. Kind of like how he just picked up on being able to sense power without a scouter. It's like a talent of his.

There’s a part in the anime where Goku and Vegeta were sparring on Beerus’ planet and they connected fists. They tapped into the the blue forms power (before they had achieved blue) and were both shocked at the amount of power they both felt. If you ask me, it’s viable that Vegeta achieved god form because of the fact that he was training amongst gods and had a taste of its power through Goku

Whis tells them and they figure it out whilst training in whis's room of spirit and time. He states that its the ability to stop their ki from escaping thier bodies. Whis states to vegeta if he mastered his ki better he may surpass goku in power. The ritual basically shows a method to draw in the ki of others around him. Whilst that spirit room forces them to lock it inside. Both methods use similar technique to accommodate the conditions for the same result.

Super Saiyan God (without the ritual) is attained when a Saiyan trains their body to reach a godly power level while also honing their ki control to a divine level (to the point where they can control their ki without letting it leak outside of their body so that opponents can't sense it). Once a Saiyan has trained their body and ki control to these points, they will unlock Super Saiyan God, and if that Saiyan can already go Super Saiyan, then they will unlock Super Saiyan Blue as well. The ritual is an optional shortcut that can be used in order to get a brief temporary taste of Super Saiyan God. Rare geniuses like Goku however, can absorb the power from this little taste into their base form. They still have to do the ki control training to subsequently re-attain the power.

It's like how in GT, Goku obtained the SSJ4 form by mastering the GGA, whereas Vegeta did it in a different way.

I think experiencing the SSG ritual would be enough to give you some remnants of God Ki, and Whis just taught him how to use it. So I'd say every else involved in the Ritual could tap into it too if they were taught. Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan and even Videl despite being human.

If I remember correctly. After the ritual, when Vegeta was jealous of Goku from achieving that form. Goku told Vegeta that they would redo the ritual again for him and I think that's what happened (kinda like in dragon ball kakarot)

Well if I remember correctly they explained that ritual was always part of the Saiyan heritage, but it required a pure heart so there was a civil war between pure heart Saiyan's, and I guess you can say savage Saiyan's, and the ritual was forgotten when they lost. The ritual was only needed because OG saiyans didn't know how to achieve divine ki, but Whis explains that divine ki isn't something that's entirely different from regular ki. Divine ki is just someone who had master a higher concentration of their ki without it unnecessary leaking out. Which is why Vegeta was able to attain it without a ritual, and why other people can't sense their ki, but still feel the pressure of the power increase.

It’s long been established in DBZ that training with gods allows a fighter access to special knowledge and abilities normally unknown to mortals. Vegeta trained with Whis on Beerus’s world. It’s not unreasonable to think this training allowed him to learn special techniques. He was able to take this base and build the rest himself.

They all took part in the ritual, therefore any saiyan who took part can unlock that ki.

It would have been neat if his royal lineage had played a very minor role in gaining the form, thus giving a bit more to the royal lineage and how it came to be that way via a sayain who became king due to his immense strength, with said strength being passed down from generation to generation, dwindling with every pass, only for vegeta to reignite said strength.

What I think is that when the first ritual was done with Goku,he was the part of it so maybe the God ki was also absorbed by him so training with whis made him perfectly unlock it

I like the idea that he achieved it on his own. Goku getting the ritual fits with his character of protecting his friends but pushing past his reliance on himself while Vegita breaking out of his ego to seek training reflects how he has lost his bad habits to become a better person.

I think they explain it that anyone can access god ki if giving proper training, but the ritual they perform in battle of the gods is like a shortcut

He reached God by being surrounded by God ki on beerus planet and Whis training him to use God ki. He didn't have a ritual, but had some major assistance that wasn't available to goku at the time he achieved God through the ritual.

In the dragon ball super anime there is a scene of when Goku and Vegeta are training under Whis before freiza arrived and in a clash of fist but Goku and Vegeta felt a strange blue ki, Whis explained to them that Goku needs to learn how to handle God ki properly as Goku was leaking out his God ki so I think Vegeta got his God ki from goku actually.

Honestly it really makes no sense for him to get it through training alone, it’s a nice sentiment with his character and all. Like with him first becoming ssj1 the same way “his way” but just with what we’re shown about it it makes a lot more sense for him to have done the ritual rather then “I trained…. A lot” lol.

Vegeta always finds alternative ways to achieve new forms. Even in GT he uses a machine to achieve SS4 instead of turning into a golden great ape like Goku did

If we’re really being technical, Vegeta didn’t learn divine ki from Whis and Beerus and that’s how he gained super Saiyan god. That’s how Vegeta gained Super Saiyan Blue. Super Saiyan Blue in the manga isn’t really another transformation if you will. Super Saiyan Blue is the result of a Saiyan with divine Ki turning in to a super Saiyan. So SSB is really more like SSG and base super Saiyan fused or like using the two forms at once. Vegeta states in the manga the he that he reached SSG while training in the hyperbolic time chamber to fight black again. And he did it by reverse engineering SSB. He did this to conserve stamina. He stays and moves in SSG to conserve energy and attacks and defends by quickly shifting blue. Vegeta eventually stops doing this later on in the manga but that’s how he really achieved god.
