I experienced some problems with nails, gum bleeding, thinning hair. I realized that main reason behind these issues is insufficient amount of proteins. Once I started eating more red meat & eggs all problems were resolved on its own. I don’t eat anything else. My diet consists of meat, eggs, butter, salmon, sardines, water, salt, lemon (in water). I never been healthier in my entire life. I’m 56 years old, zero medications. In the past I had ulcers, hyperactive thyroid, IBS, heart problems. Proper diet is the key to healthy life.

I have always been thin and always been hypothyroid. So, please docs, keep that in mind. You will especially see this dynamic among the population of Ehlers Danlos sufferers (many of whom suffer from Hashimoto's), which is a population that western medicine also misses. So heads up, y'all. Thanks, Dr. Osborne!

Excellent nutrient pathway. The thyroid has more selenium than any other organ. It acts as a brake in the oxidation process of TPO and hydrogen peroxide. The Japanese consume about 14mg iodine per day. Lower cancer rates and higher IQ babies. It is impossible to achieve 14mg iodine on a SAD. If I ate seafood from the ocean every day I would be less than 1mg iodine. I take 15mg lugols per day. Bonus info: Where are thyroid hormones made other than the thyroid: ovaries and bone marrow white t cells. What happens if a cell has no iodine? Pre cancerous. Iodine is stored in the breasts, ovaries and salivary glands. If very low iodine, dry mouth, fibrocystic breasts and ovaries than can become cancer. What else can iodine do? Since it can get into the mitochondria it can start to clear mercury lead and aluminum beginning in 24 hours. Why do women need more iodine than men? Breasts and estrogen suppresses iodine absorption? What interferes with iodine absorption? Chlorine, fluoride, bromide. What is the worse thing a doctor can do for a patient with low iodine? Give a hormone supplement without addressing root cause. Go see a naturopath.

I was put on synthroid in 04 for fatigue but all the way to 2009 I was worse with symptoms. Hypo/hashi. I went on elimination, gluten, dairy and sugar free diet, and stopped my synthroid. I've been showing over 100 from about 2009 but the other levels are fine and I'm able to function like I was long before the fatigue and synthroid started. Still not getting any help finding the cause. Again, thyroid, iron and other levels are fine. Levels showing problems are different than those listed here.

Great presentation, but I have a question about your iodine recommendation, beginning @ 25:40. Are dietary sources enough? According to Dr. David Brownstein, an iodine authority, we need about 12.5 to 50 mg per day along with sufficient amounts of the co-factor vitamins and minerals you outlined, beautifully. Can you get that much iodine without supplementation?

I order Ultra Nutrients and have taken it for quite awhile. Does that capsule provide what I need for all these things you have said I need to provide T4? I also take an additional C with magnesium which I also order from Glutenfree Society. I have become concerned because I just got referred to an endocrinologist and she is telling me that I may have a problem with a cyst or something attached to my thyroid which (if I have that condition) can take calcium out of my system. I have osteoporosis and a urine test showed a calcium seeping condition. Supposedly I have to have a scan to see if that condition is there. My concern is when the doctor told me it may be hypothyroid, I asked if that was Hashimoto’s and she said no that was a different gland. I have been Glutenfree, grainfree, dairy free and nightshade free for several years now. I have the genetic predisposition DNA problem which I found out from taking the DNA test through you. My internist has been wonderful but I am more than concerned about this endocronologist.

All protein comes from plants. He says he loves animals but he is not afraid to eat them. Everyone should be afraid to eat them because they are grown in horrible conditions on factory farms and fed corn and soy. Primates are frugivores. What Osborne says about most of his patients being hypothyroid because they eat a high carb diet is because they are eating too much processed high fructose corn syrup, meat and dairy as well as iodine inhibitors like bromine, chlorine and fluoride. I became hypothyroid because I was eating a paleo diet. When I went raw vegan (only plants, raw seeds, raw nuts and fruits) all my symptoms disappeared. All protein comes from plants.

You are misinformed. Highest quality proteins come from meat, especially organ meats from grass fed, grass finished animals. This is more expensive than supermarket meat but my food bill is far less now that I no longer buy grains, packaged food, soda and fast food. Meat, eggs and specific veg has transformed my life.
