You and I are cut from the same cloth of dense men. The knowledge I've acquired through many missed opportunities can be summarized in a proper analogy. Men, boys usually, are told that they are the fisherman and women the fish. But this is wrong and leads to all sorts of stupidity like pickup artists and their ilk. To keep with the analogy of fishing, let us imagine sport fishing. In this, men are the fish and women are the lure (fisherman). Women will doll themselves all up in hopes of being what you're looking for, they'll bob around you in hopes of gaining your attention and they'll even signal that they're something that you should put in your mouth ("If only any guy were to treat me in the way I'm about to describe! I'd be his forever!"). All guys need to do is remember that THEY are the catch, when you remember this, you can immediately filter her comments and actions through this lense. It's not proper sportsmanlike conduct to go just grabbing fish out of the water with a wide net (aka, dressing like you are 'for the streets'), you must use a rod, reel and a proper lure to catch what you want. And so, the best you can do is put yourself into situations where what you want are (Go to where the fish are biting). But at the end of the day, you man, the fish, must be the one to bite on the hook. That's why, if you never end up biting, you see women just kind of disappear...well, they're in search of better waters. If you ever find yourself in a position where you're unsure of a woman's desires, imagine her acting like a lure. Is she bobbing? Does she smell like what attracts fish? Is she giving you a little chase? Is she adorned with colors that fish are attracted to? If yes, it's quite likely you're the fish she's trying to attract, act accordingly.

They do... At least here in the modern part of the world, where gender equality has occured for decades..

Maybe she rejected you at work to save her job, but outside work (at the park) she'd be ok with it. Just flat out ask her (outside work) why she's following you like a lost puppy dog after rejecting you. Some women have a mental complex where they don't want you romantically but they become possessive and don't want you to have anyone else either.

Good idea from Sumdood about asking her straight out why she follows you all over the place. Had a situation like this in college. I don't think that girl was the irrationally possessive sort with no romantic interes you describe, Sundood. Pretty sure that girl thought she'd found her future husband. Except I wasn't interested. Worse, other girls I was attracted to kept their distancce. They saw me and that one girl together so much, because of her following me around all the time, that they assumed I was off limits, so I missed out on some opportunities there. This went on for a couple of years, and I never could figure out how to ditch the girl. Maybe asking her why she kept after me would have worked. Saying straight out that I wasn't interested might have been seen as a challenge, so she would have ramped up her p;ursuit. Asking why she kept taggin along after me might have put her in an awkward position, trying to explain her reasons, and might, maybe, possibly have been a deterrent.
