DedseckOS not saying it’s easy to survive a month living paycheck to paycheck but there is risk spending to your max income. And I wish the gov. wouldn’t bailout anybody. Everybody needs to learn how to be become a saver and smart with their money. Instead we as a collective have forgotten the lessons of our grandparents.

The EDD online application needs to be updated for Covid-19 Cares Act. It currently does not show proper fields for the Cares Act, such as receiving unemployment due to Reduced Hours, it just asks for Last Employer, which does not address the reduced hours applications. Nor does it clearly have a way for self-employed or independent contractors to apply! Please either update your current benefits application or create a separate application for COVID-19.

van wray when i did it early i put “ public health” i submitted a questions to them stating my reason is because of Covid-19 hopefully things will get resolved 🙏🏻i sent them a letter from my job stating furlough

They should just pay direct to the people by monthly until we solve the problem,rather than give people a hardtime applying.not everybody is good with computer especially the low educated people like me.gov want to stop all the job but never realize that people are living paycheck to pacheck and need to pay rent,loan and food

Some categories require a one time phone call to set up. It's designed to discourage you. Couldn't get it before kung flu. If they would make it work it would help a lot of people. Leave it to the feds for a lame bankruptcy check. Priority is on illegal aliens comfort and well being. Thanks Gavin

Its really hard to file unemployment this day especially online.the goverment should just direct the money to the people by monthly basis.not everybody have talent with computer especially the low educated people.the pandemic is not everybodys fault they should just help the people without to many condition.most people out of work they have bills and loan to pay,how can they survive this pandemic if you stop all the job and the one supposed to help the people also out of work cause of coronavirus

So when I apply , the gross payment it will ask for is not the same as net pay? Because net pay is the amount you take home after taxes. So I report gross earnings NOT the net pay?

That's correct it asks for your gross earnings which is the amount before any taxes are removed.

Got it approved and same with friends, but think biggest lesson from this is how important it is to have more than 1 source of income, the fact so many of us can be wiped jobs so suddenly, actually funny enough just made a video on dealing with unemployment, but best wishes anyone that's still going through the process

Only the weeks of a claim between March 29 and July 31 are eligible for the extra $600 payments. Does this mean if you filed before the 29th you dont get it?

Hi Austin yes file and if your case is approved by the unemployment office you we will receive assistance,not everyone is approved though they look at your past 18months of employment you have to have made so much in each quarter to qualify period and they don’t pay you all your wages just a small percentage.

EDD seriously needs more alternate numbers for the overwhelming calls they get everyday since this pandemic started. Its mind boggling they havent thought of new ideas especially since they only work from 8AM - 12PM... Before anyone says "You can go online and do it" my reply is true but UI online can only do so much before you need to talk to a live agent.

how do you select the start date of unemployment? or does that not matter? and it wont allow me to select my method of deposit. do i have to wait to be approved to select?

MakeupbyRocky Your start date will be your first day you didn’t come to work. example if your last of work was March 20, your start date will be March 23 . Once your certification of benefits is approved, EDD will send you a debit card (from bank of america) via mail. You have to be patient, I think it will take 2 weeks, but you will get your payment eventually.

MakeupbyRocky i think you have to refresh your computer and you have to go back to Indiana unemployment website. Usually all the information should be the same. if still doesn’t work you have to call their customer service

I applied on March 20th and online says disqualified for weeks 3/21/20 & 3/28/20 but that was even before I received EDD customer number. I’ve tried to contact with no luck & no answers to my emails. Have not received any letter to appeal or saying I’ve not been approved, what do I do?

I am currently unemployed and have been for 2 months because of the virus. I have a paid amount for my ue benefits but for some reason they have both my current job and my last job as the payers and i have no idea why. My coworkers have gotten unemployment benefits through the same job plus the 600 extra weekly but i have not gotten a dime and I applied a week before them and have been working there longer than they have so I'm not sure why ive been denied for the weeks claimed. I can not get in touch with anyone over the phone so i have no idea what to do at this point.

I just walked into the EDD unemployment office and asked about an extension since my benefits exhausted and they informed me that extension are not approved right now. They have heard nothing about extensions. Gave me a number to call, smh.

You have to keep sending messages and claims every few days or weeks. Also, the line is very long so it would be a miracle to get approved. There are at least 200k people applying per state right now

@@SuperLilbird I couldn't reapply through my edd portal login. I had to download a generic unemployment application, filled it out, faxed it. I did that based off what I have read online as to how to apply again. I'm not sure it'll work but it was the next best case scenario. Good luck!

I live in Illinois and I can't apply for benefits, because I need to call someone for s new password at I.D.E.S, I have sent many, many emails to them with all the info requested and no response. I have tried calling the help line to create a password and no response, this is my third week trying and I am also off work with a Doctor's note saying to be off work due to a Quarantine, after I was examined for "possible" C.Virus. I figured this out! In type of work type in the kind of work you do. In my case I typed "Server" and hit Search! And then a pop will window would show up, giving you options related to your job! It's confusing but that should solve the problem! GL guys!

I received a letter and thought that I qualified. I called for a couple of weeks and finally got through. They said that I have to resubmit. They gave me another number where they only answer the phone from 8-12. It has been busy. When I go to the website it doesn't allow for all of the out of work reasons during the pandemic. I have been going in circles and no money to pay the bills.

@drewski on EDD’s FAQ they say that all the unemployment insurance will be issued in the form of EDD credit card. I never got the option to choose to get it via direct deposit..

Mariana Palos I got a message on my email in the unemployment system not via my regular email. And it didn’t really say denied. It just said I didn’t make enough to qualify for regular unemployment. I’ve heard when the new system kicks in it will scan everyone and automatically add the 600 and push the new laws for people
