I am sooooo glad that you turned me on to the Balsam. Not only does it smell heavenly, it makes the fibers feel amazing. It truly is liquid gold for wigs. And because of your advice, I have stopped (for the most part) putting on products, especially hairspray. But I do love smell-good products so I will check out the tangerine one you mentioned. I need to stop wearing them when I cook because food smells makes me want to wash them sooner rather than later, especially if I cooked bacon. 🤣 Great informative video. Thanks Denise. 😘 On a different note, I REALLY wish wig manufacturers would STOP with the HUGE tags and making them white when you have a darker wig. Why can't they be smaller and be the color of the liner? I so want to cut them out but then afraid I'd forget which one I'm wearing, lol! But seriously, they get on my nerves. They should be sewn flat, into the nape (lengthwise) and not be seen, through the wefts, if the wind blows. 🌬️😉

Oh my gosh, Bacon! :) Yes... or if I stand outside with my husband while he is grilling... that is also a wig smell killer. Someone just told me that I should put about a tablespoon of it in a spray bottle with water and that it works great as a quick refresher between washings- I totally have to do that.

I have a long curly wig that I spray silicone on the underneath side on the nape and comb it out. I only do that because it gets very tangled there, but I do not spray it every time I wear it. No one sees that part of the hair anyway. I lightly comb the rest of it, spray water on it, and scrunch it and so far it is working well. The longer curly ones do look a little ratty when they get tangled and need some sprucing after every wear. I have taken your advice about using water on wigs and it is working like a charm.

I'm so glad! And yes, I can see how a longer curly wig could be a bit different than the bob length that I favor. So many variables in wig wearing that you can never have a one size fits all approach. :)

I don't wash a wig until after at least 2 weeks of wearing every day. It just is not necessary because my head just does not sweat. Agree on the products too.

I love your videos. I was ready to give up on curly wigs, if it was not for your help. I have naturally curly hair and have learned caring for curly wigs is very different than natural curls. I finally bought Girl Mono. I was afraid for the longest time it would not fit my 22.5 inch head, but she is perfect and so comfortable. It is a little too poofy and overwhelming for me, so thanks for comparing your used and new Girl Monos. I am hoping mine will relax to look more like yours. I have not washed it yet. I was thinking about taking it to a typist to get thinned, I but I will wait and see if it relaxes. Thank you so much for your advice and experiences. It has been enormously helpful.😊💕

Thank you so so much!! I really appreciate you taking time to comment and share. She will DEFINITELY settle, but the question is, how long will it take and how much? That is one no one can answer, unfortunately. My one caution for you, is to be careful thinning her. I do not think she has much hair, and so it would be VERY VERY easy to over-thin this one. I would just wear her as much as you can around the house.... leave her out on a wig head so that she can settle that way, too. GOOD LUCK and hugs@ 💕

You and I think so much alike. I remember when the stylist asked if she could put product in my bio hair after a cut. She finally stopped when she heard, "No!" every time. To me, all product does is attract unwelcome dirt. Thanks for another helpful video.

TOTALLY! I always hated product in my hair, it made it feel dirty and weighed down. The exception was hairspray, I needed it to keep the Toppik powder in place, lol.

I have totally done that!! I think it is OK to comb the nape, especially in a style like Scarlett that is a little longer (I find no need to comb the nape of Girl Mono as it isn't that long)... but other than that I think combs and curls are bad news, lol.

Great info! I also wear curly wigs, but every night I get home, use the wide tooth comb to get out the tangles, then mist it with water, scrunch, and hang upside down. I also haven’t found conditioner/products to be helpful. I have “work” hair so I wear a single wig 4-5 times a week. I only wash once a month and condition each wash, but nothing between. I always thought I treated them well, but I haven’t been able to get more than 3 months out of a “work wig”. What’s that...50-wears or so? At the point I think they start to look wiggy to me..and I can’t do that. I am going to try your tip and not comb it and see what I get. Thanks for another great video!
@heywigsister

You bet! I have heard that 3 months of nearly daily wear is actually all that can be expected... my Girl Mono that was in this video is definitely outlasting that, but I'm sure it depends on a lot of different things.

My mom had wigs all her life, wow, they were washed a lot, they were more to the curly side, washed with human shampoo and conditioner and put in a "head" to dry...they lasted a long time...I washed my Julianne, the only curly wig I have ( not fond of curls on me ) with Woolite and fabric softener, she is softer then when I got her, I do put hair spray or Jon Renau gel on my wigs that are almost all heat friendly, my favorite fibers, wash, dry and all done with woolite...all good but they are more on the shorter side, no tangles no dryness...still dreaming with a no permatease low density wig, I got Julianne because she was hand tie, no permatease but tons and tons of hair and very dense fibers, no heat friendly...not a favorite.

Hi Dennis 👋 I just got my girl mono and love it, but it hangs in my face all the time so I have to keep pushing it back of my face as I don't like hair in it. So can you advise me on how to keep it off my face please 🙏 it seems that all the wigs I have they all seem to do it. I watched your videos and it seems your new GM just stays off yours. I don't know what to do. Thanks

Hi if the wig gets dry can you add a little hair oil to it? May be a stupid question but I am new to wigs! Thank for all your tips x
@heywigsister
@heywigsister 3 ай бұрын
You definitely can and should with human hair, but synthetic hair does not absorb product, so while the oil would coat the fibers some, it won't soften them up because they don't absorb it.

Hello, the problem I have with curly wigs is the crown. I have 2 curly wigs that I havent worn because the crown area desperately needs to be combed but I dont know how to do that without messing up the curls.
@heywigsister
@heywigsister 4 жыл бұрын
Describe to me what is going on with the crown that you think it needs to be combed. I am wondering if it just needs to be soaked really well and shaken out and then scrunched? That almost always handles curl problems for me without combing.
@maries3609
@maries3609 4 жыл бұрын
The tops just didn't look natural but I've been working on them with water and scrunching like you advised. I also use a large pronged pick on the top and the wigs are starting to look better. I cut just a few bangs on the longer wig which made a big difference on it looking more natural. They may need to be thinned a bit too. Thank you for your help and all your reviews.

My question is how to care from your straighter wigs. As you wear them, it gets tangled and sometimes when you brush them out the fibers no longer looks sleek and smooth. The fibers looks like its a little textured. How do you keep it sleek and smooth??
@heywigsister
@heywigsister 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Joyce! I will do a video on that as well, although I wear straight wigs much less often than curly. I think this Simply Stylin' Serum on the ends works really well! Taking steam to the ends is also a way to freshen them up on a straight style which I have to do a video on. Simply Stylin Silk 4oz: amzn.to/2IrTIX7

@@jeweledbombshell3056 Yes, steam is probably the way to go then. I will work on doing a video for you.... I have steamed lift into wigs, but never frizzy ends, although have watched many videos and talk to many wig sisters about it. My Lady Latte needs the ends steamed so I do have one to show. :)

So you don’t roll in a towel like Taz? Or brush out at all? And what’s the balsam?
@heywigsister
@heywigsister 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So when I wash my wigs then I do roll in a towel to help absorb all the water... but when I spray my wigs down to revive and refresh the curl I do not. As for whether or not I comb a curly wig (never brush), it really depends on the wig. I NEVER EVER EVER comb the curls on Ellen Wille Girl Mono. But there are some curly wigs that I think need a little combing. It is all personal preference but know that if you comb out a curly wig you will relax the curl, and eventually it will be permanent. The Balm is my favorite conditioner by Belle Madame. I buy it from Continental Wigs in the UK and it is the best stuff ever. continentalwigs.co.uk/belle-madame-accessories/1061-44309-balm-synthetic-200ml-1000ml-belle-madame.html#/2258-size-200ml

I'm about 6 weeks into wearing wigs. I've watched and learned for months though. I think this was super helpful. I love the Girl Mono, but I fear it would be too tight. My favorite wig iz a ROP in average, but I had to cut out the elastic adjusters and wear it as is. My head is 22.5. Any ideas of a wig with a similar look that might work?
@heywigsister
@heywigsister 4 жыл бұрын
I have talk to MANY women who are 22.5" and have no problem wearing Girl Mono. If you can wear ROP with the adjusters cut out, I really think you can wear GM. I have tried quite a few ROP wigs that are WAY too tight on me, but not Ellen Wille. Of course, I can't say for sure, but my guess is that you should be fine. Worse case, cut the adjusters out of GM if you get her and she doesn't fit (I have one that the adjuster had been cut out by a wig sister and that one is actually loose on me).

Every Ellen Wille I've bought (with the exception of 1) has been super comfy. I have 22.5" (when I had hair it measured 23") with petite over top, and they all are fine. Received one that I could swear was meant for a child, so it went back. But you should be fine, way more comfortable than ROP. 😊👍
