Thanks Alec! I have a DC21, so I was on my own smarts to take out the mother board and plug in the wires, but everything else was the same, and I appreciate you posting this video. Cheers!

Great stuff. I used one of your other videos to remove the motor - only to discover that the motor is probably ok. I now tested with a multimeter I don't seem to get power on the red lead. Is there a way to disassemble the cable retract unit or MUST I buy a new one of those now?

Hiya, great video. Thanks for all the great tutorials but I wonder if you can help with this....my dyson cord retract does still work but it only retracts a certain amount of wire at a time so I have to keep pressing the rewind button...does this mean it needs replacing or can it be fixed without purchasing a new part...hope you can help...I can't seem find any more info or help about this problem anywhere...anyway...thanks again & a big thumbs up cos you've recently helped me when replacing belts and filters in my mums dc14 and saved her money cos she didn't need to call a repair man. Ann :)

excellent video, much appreciated.I replaced the motor but when I tried to put back the cover its not flush with the base. I removed the motor and tried to put the cover same issue, i believe the re tractor assy is getting in the way. I never took out this assy not sure whats wrong. I spend almost an hour to put the cover back !!!! pl assist
@johnlush12358 жыл бұрын
That looks pretty easy to do. But ours seems like it only needs the spring tension tightened up. Can you show how that is done? Is it possible or is the rewind unit sealed?

Alec how do I change the foot on my Dyson DC20. I’ve cleaned everything but the brushes on the turbo foot I’m using aren’t moving.

I figured out what was wrong. When you suggest just popping the switch in the space you actually have to push the bottom go the holder forward so it tilts the whole switch slightly back. When looking t the video you can see the red button of the switch and you should see the horizontal line go the casing approximately half way through the red button. That shows it is in the correct position.

Ive used tonnes of force and the wheels will not pop off as easy as you made it look. wheels are starting to bend with the force im using. i dont want to break the wheels. what will i do? ive a dc08. do the wheels come off a different way to this model?
@SilverLakeKingdom8 жыл бұрын
Hi I have the same here with my dc 21 BUT take nice long screwdriver and pull you wont brake it. Try roate it and pull from the middle of the wheel. It looks like it will break but it wont. Good luck

REDLINE 007 thank you for this comment man, I used 5 screw drivers all around the wheel and a bit of force to get it off and it didn’t break yay!

hi i have changed the power on/off button and a new motor but mine wont work, the motor definatley works i have tested it in a old dyson, any ideas? all thats left is the power cord, but there seems to be power at the motor
@quick2rick7 жыл бұрын
Shaun Sims, unwind the power cord until you reach the end, you should find that the cord is broken right at the end. The fun part is fixing it!

I have a dc20 and I can't get the main cover back on. There seems to be only one logical place for the switch to go but the cover collides and leaves a mark on the plastic so I know where the issue is. I watched this several times so I know it is in the correct way around but it just won't fit.. So frustrating.

I have removed motor and switch . fits fine refitted motor without switch ,fits fine. Put switch back in as shown it connects with the cover..Help !! The switch has the two legs that go in the slot. It can't fit anywhere else.
