Please give the man a TV spot or AT LEAST his own segment on this channel. It would be CRIMINAL to let that opportunity go by. Insane.

I absolutely LOVE this video! I am an astronomy professor and was looking for a good video about telescopes for my online students to view. You include all the important basics and pertinent details, using the same examples I do in my lecture... perhaps it's because I grew up in Montreal?? I must say that it also brought happy and sentimental tears to my eyes, because I was inspired to be an amateur astronomer and later teach astronomy as a result of watching star shows at the planetarium in Montreal when I was a child. Merci beaucoup à mes confrères montréalais du fond du cœur pour cette excellente présentation!

Wow...thank you for the kind words. As the animator in the video I am beyond thrilled that you found it helpful for your course. The Planetarium was also a huge inspiration for me and it was privilege to make this video for them. Thank you for watching!

EXCEELENT presentation. The perfect video to show my grade 8 school kids. It might even ignite enough of an interest in them to take up the hobby. That is the age I got "ignited".

I don't understand the part he says "they would see dinosaurs not humans" Can someone explain into detail how this is possible?
@potionseller2083

Hi Darvin, I am the narrator in this video. It is because of the nature of the speed of light and how it carries information. When you see things happening in your daily life, it's because of light entering your eyes and your brain interpreting it. The things you see around you appear to be happening in the present or 'right now' but there is actually a tiny delay. As is stated in the video, light is not instantaneous. Light has to travel from one location to the other and that takes time. Light is the fastest thing in the universe so in our daily lives its impossible to notice the delay in the amount of time it takes for information to travel to your eyes. Things change however over very very long distances. When you look up at the stars, their light has taken thousands or millions of years to reach you. That means that you are actually seeing what the stars looked like in the past. The dinosaur example tries to show this phenomenon from the perspective of an outside observer, an alien in another galaxy. If they were looking at Earth, because they are so far away, the light that has reached them has been on its way there for a very long time. At a distance of 66 million light years away, that means that the light had left the Earth 66 million years ago, when the dinosaurs were alive. The aliens would not be seeing humans, they would be looking at the dinosaurs! I hope that clears it up.
