I love the idea of the kids playing and growing in Rockford and dominating with a chance to win a Calder cup instead of feeling the pressure of playing in the NHL right off the bat. Let them build their confidence first and learn the system in the AHL first!!! Honestly when the hawks won all those cups a lot of those guys were playing in Rockford first and dominating there first before winning cups on the Hawks squad.

Yeah, hopefully Korchinski isn’t Boquist 2.0. Supposed to be an offensive defenseman, but doesn’t have NHL level offensive skill. That seems to be a common theme for first round defenseman taken, trying to draft the next Makar

That’s true. Obviously, rushing guys hasn’t worked well for the Hawks in recent years: from Dach, to Reichel to Boquist to Korchinski. Whatever happened to Nolan Allen? Not much, im guessing. As long as they’re improving and moving through the pipeline. But damn, you want to have some contributions before Bedards rookie contract is up.

I disagree with you guys about Korchinski. It would not have been a waste to send him back to juniors. First of all he didn’t dominate in his final season in juniors. He was a 3rd team CHL All-Star. He played bottom pairing minutes on the Canadian World Junior team. Del Mastro BTW played top pairing minutes on that same team. Del Mastro has been properly developed. Korchinski looked beaten down at the end of the season. He was in way over his head. With regards to Levshunov I say send him back to Michigan State. Maker,Powers and Luke Hughes all went back for their sophomore seasons. They’ve all said it was beneficial. They rushed Korchinski don’t make the same mistake with Levshunov.

Watching some Levshunov tape, does anyone else see a right handed Korchinski? Maybe there’s some truth to the rumors that the hawks lost some faith in KK and see Levshunov as a better version?

I don’t think they lost faith. Every player develops differently. Some players take time and others get a better chance to play in the NHL. KD has to make a decision with Levshunov before training camp because he’s from college. it’s very important to make sure that what is the best move for his growth. Korchinski now has to work for his spot in the NHL again.

They need a top pairing RHDman once the build is over and are playoff contenders again. This should be him.

@@jmtlpt Agree with you. But he is not a top player yet so we need to get players for that role until he’s ready for the NHL. Even though he went 2 overall. He needs to learn how to play without the puck.

Alot of crap 1 year contracts . Don't mind the 3 top forwards they got. But think Nazer should get a shot. Kourchinski should of stayed in the minors one more year. He afraid to hold on the puck to long. Like the tapes of Sasha. Hope I'm wrong on Levshunov. I was a advocate of trading with Montreal for 5,26 and a D prospect. Levshunov might of dropped or take my guy Iginla.

@@tomslick2058 I would’ve taken iginla, Lindstrom, Demidov over Levshunov. Hell I don’t even think Lev would’ve been the first D man I took. Good thing I’m not a GM but damn, I really don’t like the pick- especially given the prospect pool and the vets we just signed. Demidov seemed like a GIFT, no brainer pick to me

Del Mastro needs the minutes to work on his game. Levshunov is best in AHL or College because he needs the minutes. Phillips will probably be #7 , he is still an interesting prospect. Kaiser or Korchinski will battle for the one open spot ,

Kyle Davidson is a company man. No hockey IQ in building a contender. I personally dislike 👎 a majority of signings. The games last year were such garbage 🗑. The Hawks got 5 total pieces. Bedard should demand a trade to Vancouver or Toronto.

How are they garbage moves. Some of them won a Stanley Cup so they earn the money the hawks gave them. They are veterans who can play if young players need time to develop. And 4 to 3 years is the window from getting this team to ready to make the playoffs when the contracts expire. The only player I don’t want is TJ Brodie.

Yeah Brodie was the only head scratcher to me. I would have preferred Vincent Deharnais(probably butchered that last name. He signed with Vancouver for two years at 2 million per year. He shoots right he’s more physical and he’s younger. That would have been money better spent to me.

I just have a bad feeling with this 2nd overall pick... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ this is going to be extremely painful if this does not work out.. KD missed out on potentially the most offensively skilled winger in this draft for a d man who lacks all awareness for defending in his own zone and his hockey IQ is abysmal.

I believe that you are biased because you wanted Demidov. Levshunov according to many scouts had the best college year of any defensemen in a while.

Watch the tape. Levshunov is slow asf, lazy, and has no idea how to defend his own zone. Yet to see even one hilight where dude hustles in any direction. Kyle learned all he knows from the smartest man in the league: Stanley bowman

Since we need 6 defensemen, both guys can be used and whoever is slightly better won't really matter.
