That’s what a lot of retail jobs I think feel like😅 like you’re getting paid minimum wage and half the time your employer expects you to like confront a robber or someone trying to steal from the store like 🤨 I’m getting paid to check out peoples groceries or stuff and maybe do some other things in store; not risk my life over someone stealing an Xbox 💀

The "I've worked with Brenda" before part gave me violent flashbacks. That's the exact thing one of my friends who I had just met at my new job said. Apparently he had left his former job at the company at a different location to get away from that same manager. She had just been made the assistant GM of our store. He transferred to another store that was further from his house just to get away from her. We all thought he was overreacting. Within six months we went from being 20 people overstaffed to over 20 understaffed. She was the most horrific micromanaging manager you could ever imagine. Write ups for everything, constantly micromanaging you in the microphones in your ear and dressing you down in front of the entire store. She passed over one of the girls in our department for a promotion because she missed one day of work because she was in a car accident and was in the hospital. I stuck it out until after Christmas that year and I was out. She actually didn't schedule me the last 2 weeks (or much in general because she was trying to get me to quit) I was there so I didn't come in. As a joke I checked my schedule 3 weeks after I had left and found out that I was actually on the schedule in 2 days. I showed up to the shift and she nearly pissed herself. Turns out that she was still counting me as an employee at the store so that she could put me on the schedule and fire me for not showing up to a job I had already quit almost a month before. I put that in writing when I've turned in my formal resignation while she was out of town at the request of one of the other managers who had been a close friend to me. Nothing ever came of it, but yeah. Fuck that job.

Bethanie is such a mood. I do what is expected of me and try my best to help ease the burden of my colleagues, but when something is clearly too much for me and they want me to do it anyway, I give it the old college try because I do not get paid enough to let it stress me.

My goal as work mom was to make sure I had emergency supplies of anything someone might need. Mending kit, various pharmaceuticals, tissues, lotion, spare change, snacks. If someone asked for something I didn't have, I made sure to get it! It's not always about the gossip. I just figured these kids could use someone to look after them a little bit.

Wanting to know you on a deeper personal level doesn't make her a scary person. Introverts want to know the people around them on a deeper level because they are deep caring people. However, I agree that there's always the ones you have to look out for who are looking for gossip. Just observe and listen for a while to learn who's the real deal, and who's the gossip.

I have been Donna at every job I have ever held. The kids that work for me are wonderful. And it amazes me the lack of general knowledge and common sense is astounding. Will provide them life skills that will help them later in life. Plus I cook for all of them too.
