Fatigue limit diagrams according to Haigh (also called Goodman diagram) or Smith show the maximum yieldable stress amplitude as a function of the mean stress. In this video you will learn more about the creation of these diagrams.

Hello, these diagrams are plotted with fatigue limit, aka 2e6 cycles for instance for steels. I am curious to see how we can plot a fatigue diagram for low cycle fatigue region such as 500 cycles. Should ve take SN curve's 500 cycle stress for fatigue limit now?

Thank you, very good explanation with diagrams and visuals. So easy to understand this way. Let me ask a very quick question. In Smith Diagram what does y axis represent actually? I see stress ratio but I don not see such large R numbers on my books or am I missing something? Thanks.

hi thanks for this videos i want to know that how one find 50 percent probability curve i heard there is one statical method of weibull distribution could you please share some resources regarding that

That is correct, for statistical evaluation the Weibull distribution is applied. However, the mathematical basics for this are quite complex and at the moment I am still busy with other topics. But I have this on my to-do list.
