Hi Rich,
I have been watching your videos and i love the channel, I have all about self improvement for the last year and becoming a better version of myself.
I broke up with a women about 2 years ago (single mom and daddy issues) i wish i found your channel back then :).
My question is how do you reposed to silent treatment within a relationship, she used to do it all the time when she didn't get her own way or didn't like my opinion on something. she wouldn't answer my call or reposed to my text messages for days. It cause me really bad anxiety, over the year we was together and me loose almost 3 stones in weight (sorry i'm from the UK) that's about 40 pounds.
i am really worried that this could happen again with my next relationship, Just want to know the best way to deal with it? In my head i wouldn't stand for the silent treatment within a relationship again as the person must be absolutely "trash" to use such childish tactics to get their own way.
let me know if you think i am right in my thinking?
Keep making great and helpful videos!

Silent treatment equals=shes holding a grudge or some other guys dick. Silent treatment =stonewalling= emotionally immature women do this. If your woman refuses to have an adult conversation especially after a day or something to cool off just tell her you dont put up with that kind of behavior and you will be glad to talk about it later. Leave and go to your house. If you are married like you said go to the gym or the lake. Gentleman when women do this it cannot be tolerated. It's an underlying issue and it has to be addressed. If she wont address it leave. No amount of chores, gifts, or getting annoyed and doing the silent treatment back works. It's a recipe for disaster. Oh if I wouldve known then what I know now.

Silent treatment is a power play. We do it to make you feel guilty and anxious until you're sorry enough to apologize and give us what we want. Think of a child throwing a tantrum in the middle of the grocery store! It's the same thing, only way quieter. What do you do? Absolutely nothing! Attempt to communicate, and then if she won't respond, let her know you're not taking her BS by sending one single line: "Not sorry. If you want to communicate like an adult, let me know." - And that's it. Move on! If she calls back and matures, great. If not, say buh-bye and count your blessings!

Shiirow to use that line "like an adult" let's the person know that you are aware of what they're trying to do and shows reflexion of their own manipulative ways. It's just another way of saying "cut it out now". Silent treatment is VERY harmful to relationships as it causes nothing but distance between the two people which of course will inevitably and eventually result in a break up. Relationships require healthy communication. If you're partner is not wanting to talk with you, it's better for them to let you know they need some space. My ex girlfriend went through periods of giving me the silent treatment that went on for as long as a week. Once she had the taste of doing it, she started making it a frequent thing until "I don't feel anything for you any more". So why should a person subject themselves to such shitty treatment?

My ex, who had daddy issues, used to give me the silent treatment that would last few hours to few days. It used to wreck me in the inside but I would never show it. I couldn't sleep and or be happy no matter how much I tried. The last time she stopped talking to me lasted few months despite my dignified attempts to reconcile with her. Well, three months went by and now she's going around to my friends saying how much she misses me and can't wait to see me! Little does she know that I've moved on. I don't care about her anymore.

A woman that gives you the silent treatment...... is a woman with such a sense of entitlement, that she believes she is doing you a "favor" by allowing you to be with her. Wrong attitude. A woman should compliment your life, not be the focus of it (Another Rich quote). If she tries to give you the silent treatment, and you respond by allowing yourself to feel anxiety and chase her??? Guess what? She got exactly what she wanted. If she tries to give you the silent treatment..... and you completely disengage, pay her no attention, and then focus on yourself instead??? She'll be back to chasing you, and will have learned a valuable lesson that BS high school games don't work on you. The less you acknowledge or even "care" about her silly silent treatments.... the more she'll chase you, to get you to allow her back in your frame. Take control. Don't give control. Respect yourself, and she'll respect you too.

Once you've had the experience of a woman trying to emotionally manipulate etc you, make no mistake, you've heard the alarm bells ringing loud and clear, and it's time to cut bait and leave asap. Talk about the thin end of the wedge, if you see what I mean... Cut a long story short, if my past relationships are anything to go by, making a dignified exit and moving on would be the go to option.

I've come to learn that unfortunately there are a great many "adults" out there who need to process anger via a "cooling off period" where they want to be alone and process things before they speak to others at the risk of saying something they will ultimately regret and can't take back. I disagree with this and consider it a major behavioral flaw, but I understand it. This is different from silent treatment which is retributive behavior applied with the expressed purpose to abuse, hurt, isolate, exclude, punish and even manipulate someone in particular. This childlike behavior is commonly modeled by mothers to their own daughters and sons, but feminized adult men often learn to do the same thing. Against the right type of victims it is highly effective and damaging. The best way to handle silent treatment is to confront it as one would an insolent child: 1. Ignore the tantrum behavior as if it were that of a 3 year old child. Smile. Smirk. Do not allow it to alter your emotions, response, plans, meetings, conversations or other intentions. Make it clear you don't give one fuck about her inner child. And you are not going to waste your day for her inner adult to come back either. 2. Confront it decisively and concisely, and then withdraw yourself. Withdraw your attention, time, resource and presence. Tell her "Your silent treatment behavior is abusive and unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it". Then immediately withdraw yourself from the situation and go about your day as if nothing has altered it. Do not let her actions determine your own emotions. Do not try to explain, reason or negotiate. Afterward Set a boundary with her and make it clear that this will not happen again. And stick to that. Action, not words, are what work here. Silent treatment is a deal breaker. And adult does not do this. Highly recommend nesting her. Unfortunately it is such a favorite behavior of adult women these days. It must have worked well for them when they were teenagers or something. It's a major red flag because there is more under the roots of silent treatment.

One of the best answers yet. After awhile when I confronted the individual about their behavior as a way to reconcile reasonably, I noticed they tried to up their original demands further and further with sexual teasing tactics. Then when that no longer worked and I broke off talks, they switched to something more dramatical to get their way such as attempting to set me up and blackmail with fake charges or record things I didn't want to let be know. Once I spotted her tactics escalating from childish to sinister, I quickly broke off reconciliation attempts, played the silent treatment game with her, and continued on with my daily life and bachelor activities. She eventually found another sucker to make the offers (marriage w/stay at home to raise kids with big allowance, or be her co-habitating sugar daddy who let's her live rent free with an allowance) I wouldn't and moved in with him. Poor chap, only if he knew she's a combative, promiscuous, attention seeking hound manipulative vindictive spoiled immature brat who shows no emotions, remorse, or accountability for her negative actions. She'll just simply move on and find another host when she can't manipulate him anymore or his resources are gone. I saw and heeded her red flags and was fortunate enough to have dodged a bullet.

Then something happened i actually started to enjoy a bit of me time had time to think and realized i deserve so much better the silent treatment is emotional abuse and a way to control somebody even if you was in the wrong once you apologised that should of been the end of it and if they do it once they will do it again and again. If someone is reading this thats currently getting it get the fuck out of that relationship she/he aint worth your time of day use that experience as a warning sign no one deserves to be treated like that i wouldn't even do it to my worse enemy mind somebody im meant to love and plan a future with.

Warning signs do appear!! They seem very insignificant at first, but I've learnt that any kind of trait they expose from the get go will be magnified exponentially the more time you spend with them. On another note, I'm surrounded by women who use the silent treatment card with me. They use it because they can't get their way or they don't want to apologise for something wrong they've done.

My ex did this all the time, and basically she knew this was the button to push to drive me insane. She would also bring up arguments when we had plans for the evening to visit friends or go out for dinner or whatever and then when she didn't get the answer she wanted she would cancel those plans last minute and leave me to clean up the mess. I was in luck to have a great relationship therapist who called her out on that shit when she pulled it during the sessions, telling her it was a form of emotional abuse (she was trying to paint me as violent because I sometimes raised my voice in arguments (not yelling)). It took me a while to realise this and I stopped responding to her silent treatments and just leaving the house to do something else, and surprise surprise all of a sudden she started to react very differently. In the end I still ended the relationship because there was too much trouble and instability (surprise, there were daddy issues), but I did learn a valuable lesson. Never give into that sort of shit or it will be considered a viable strategy to get what they want and they will repeat it. But, you are right, if this tactic is employed alot of times it is already a red flag on its own. Writing this shit just makes it seem retarded that I didn't spot this earlier, but when you love someone and you are still young and inexperienced you tend to rationalise this kind of behaviour even though your intuition tells you it's wrong.

Then the mom would call up out of the blue - days, weeks, months later and start talking to him as if everything was rosey and suddenly they would be back on good terms. Nothing was ever resolved. Twas the strangest dysfunction I had ever witnessed. He told me that as a child when they got into 'fights' they would walk around the house for weeks not speaking to each other.

BOSS the manipulation my ex-husband was a pro at doing that to me. Ended up making me insane. Needless to say we're divorced and I don't give a dam. If I ever get married again, I'm single and I absolutely could give a dam less if I ever had a boyfriend again. I'm just tired.of it. Best of.luck to u though. ❤️

A woman will tell you everything you need to know on a first date. If you are able to supress the desire to impress by talking about your achievements and how awesome you are. Every dude in the modern dating world has to lift, have interesting hobbies, and be ambitious just to get women. The vast majority of reasonably attractive women today get by with merely existing. With all the criteria required for self improvement as a man, don't ignore any leftover sense of loneliness or need for approval. You'll end up with women who identify and exploit the shit out of that vulnerability. Seriously, listen closely on the first date so you can hear your cue to head out for the proverbial "pack of smokes."

Great video Rich. I was also involved with the Daddy Issue, Borderline, silent treatment chick. In retrospect and having educated myself on the subject I've found a few early red Flags that can be seen in these types unbeknownst to even them. If she shows unstable moods, has illusions of grandeur like opening her own coffee shop or moving to Hawaii on a whim, constantly considering a change in vocation, chronic boredom, restlessness, sleep disorders etc. These were all "tells" if you will that if I'd had the foresight would have sent me running for the hills. Hope that helps.

I recently encountered a situation as to what this gentleman has been discussing about on this video, had an argument, I voiced my opinion on how she’s not consistent with her words and actions and she went bonkers on me. She said what she had to say and hanged up on me and gave me a silent treatment for a whole week straight I contacted her, sent her texts and I even sent her an apology video smh 🤦🏼‍♂️ and as soon as I made a decision to move on she text me out of the blue saying that she loves me and she cares about me…….Wtf!!!!! This literally just open my eyes 😳 She sent me a long paragraph trying to justify herself it’s been three days since her text and I have not responded …fuck this I’m out! ✌🏻 I am so glad I found this video and his channel you got my subscription and like 👍🏼 THANK YOU!

Silent treatment is an instant break up. Silent treatment is a classic trait of a narcissist. They get a kick out of knowing that you are suffering over them, by not responding they know it's provoking anxiety and causing distress, but they continue to do it. Gives them a feeling of control and power. If anyone gets gratification out of causing suffering it's abuse. Bottom line. Immediately get out of there. Dont try to change them, don't make excuses, end it.

Enjoy the silence - go for a long moto ride. My longest is 3 weeks. She was playing the game, so I blocked her number and went on a road trip. When I got back she was all coy and 'worried about 'us' - meh. 21 days without her was damn glorious - never looked back. I uninvited her from my life and circle. No regrets. It was a small town - her drama was well published in her subsequent BS.

The reason why I have become silent is because I am tired of trying. For years my partner would avoid solving issues, he is never emotionally avaliable. Today we are ok, tomorrow he starts an argument about something I said 6months ago. And when I want explain the misunderstandings, he doesn't wait to listen. So, its like a cycle. Today we are fine, tomorrow we fight again. Sooo because I can't get him to open up, I just give up. Its not the silent treatment per say.... Its a woman who has had enough of the manipulative, insensitive, and childish child of a man.

I feel that people weather men or women who give the silent treatment have something more deep ..deep anger or childhood issues ..amateurish and lack of communication .when you see some one over angry its not your fault they have more issues deep which are not resolved yet ...when you deal with this silent and make it affect you ..you get their negative missed energy ..you enter their field of energy and be affected ...you will feel pain sooo deep like its physical..my fiance until now gives it to me .. I decided not to react or let it affect me ....its kind of tantrum for me nothing more ..and definitely not my fault .... I let him cool off ..stop nagging and chasing ..be around..then he cool off ..I cant change it ..but I can change the way I look at it and interact with it ....its just childish behaviour

Look. There's a difference between the 'silent treatment' and simply being over someone. The silent treatment is merely a power game and whether it comes from the man or the woman it's childish, maddening, and a big red flag. But there's a shade of grey. It could be that the other person needs time and space to think especially after a conflict. If this is all the person wants, they should be able to tell you that openly and directly. It's a good thing to take time to calm down and think about what you need and want, it's definitely preferable to trying to sort things out in an angry state of mind. But in the case of needing a little time and space, the other person should not just cut off communication without any explanation. They should tell you, "I need a couple hours" (or even, "a couple weeks" depending on how far into the relationship you are) but there should be no playing on fears, they should reassure you that they still want to talk through things in the future. Lastly, if the person is simply over you, it can be very hard to distinguish between that and the silent treatment. It's tempting to accuse them of 'silent treatment' and playing a power game. But over time you have to accept that you've been rejected, which is always awful.

I live in Thailand where most young girls are taught how to control men via The Silent Treatment. I was living with a woman who thought this would work on me. As soon as I saw she had stopped speaking to me, and even refused to make eye-contact or acknowledge my presence in the room, I retreated from her and completely withdrew. Eventually, she got tired of being "alone in the house" and came around. I explained to her at that time that when she chooses to withdraw, I will let her. I will not come chasing after her and it is her responsibility to resume communication, not mine. I also explained to her how detrimental this was to the relationship. She did this two more times before she got the message and stopped. I was just 48 hours away from walking out on her permanently when she came around that third time. I told her this was her "third strike" and the next time she will be 'out' of my life if it happens again. It never did.

Many would consider my wife assertive but if there’s something I’ve done (or haven’t done) and she’s pissed about it, she doesn’t hold back and says it. No silent treatment or mind reading needed. Conversely if I don’t agree with whatever it is she’s pissed about, I don’t hold back either.

Silent Treatment can be very distorted and very misunderstood: I have had to many times be silent for long periods of times. Simple, I do 90% of the work in our relationship, Communication, planning, budgeting, house and car keeping, etc. 1. I do all of the outside and inside of the house, and I mean it , all. i.e yard, pest control, dusting and wiping and mopping, etc. UNLESS someone is coming over to visit. She seldom helps and to make it worse, she has no organizational skills and she is not clean. I have communicated this, she has admitted many times. 2. I do the inside and the outside of the cars, while she is careless and leave the car on empty most of the time. I have express that many times and she has verbally admitted. 3. I do most of the healthy feeding for our children, while she continues to feed them junk, high fats, sugars and salts. I have expressed this and she has admitted. 4. She is careless with money 5. She is terrible at memory, I mean I am seriously concern This is just a short list of things that has hunted us for at least 14 years. Lately I have been stonewalling my wife until I refresh and continue the hard work of loving her. But at times this can be confuse as Silent Treatment hence my first sentence.

The silent treatment is actually a form of psychological abuse. If a woman pulls this on you by slowly implementing it after you’re in a long term relationship, it’s very difficult on your psyche depending on how messed up and immature she is. It’s a bit of a wake up call for guys who are naive to it - it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve got your own issues, it just means you’re a person with in tact empathy if being treated like shit affects you and you’re trying to help better the relationship/work through things. Women will do all sorts of shit if they are mentally unhealthy to keep their claws in a good man. It just may mean you’re not aware of what’s going on. I certainly wasn’t - but my now ex wife kept the hooks in me and I slowly had to become more and more aggressive to the point where she couldn’t pull a single stunt on me without her paying for it. It became very toxic, and I’m not suffering the loss of the relationship. I would not and could not tolerate that; very unfortunate as I became ready to have a child with her. The more I became firm and unwavering, the more her childishness rose to the surface. I suspect men may rarely come across “fully intact” women and if you’re looking for a long term relationship (and why wouldn’t you be, that’s why all of us are here... our parents got together and raised us) there are certain things you’ll need to accept and go along with. Red Pill can actually damage men as much as Feminism can damage women. Never take advice that tells you to run around thinking every woman is at some point going to become unfaithful etc as you’ll be ruined for an LTR and you’re doing damage to your own psyche.

The "silent treatment" is something she only does if you are vulnerable to it. Even if it hurts, you have to prove to her, that you are not in any way affected by the silent treatment. Even if it hurts, you have to get used to the feeling, distract yourself with the other things going on in your live. Work extra hours. Spend more time at the Gym or spend time with your hobbies. A woman should never be the center point of your live. If she has the power to give you anxiety, then you need time for yourself and overcome this anxiety without letting her know that you have anxiety. She will only stop shit like that if she knows for certain that it does not work on you and that you have more important things going on in your live.
