Most restaurants don't act like that but some small ones do. In that case, whenever they ask you what coke you want, you would usually say (if you wanted a coca cola) "I'll just have/take a coke." Changed what to drink to what coke you want.

My dad’s side of the family is all New York and Jersey, but my mom’s side is from Oklahoma, with me being from Florida. It’s an odd mix of dialects here, but I’ve probably taken most after southern dialect from my mom like calling soda: Coke. I don’t have nearly a strong “draw” as people from Arkansas and Louisiana.
