How do you attach a pcb to a 'thing'. Well we use a 'thing' called a standoff.

Thank you mate (?) for this rather helpful video. Here in the US we call those screws and not bolts. It's just a matter of scale. Also we're quite happy using our fingers to get the screw initially into the threads and don't struggle to do it with a screwdriver. We however use a screwdriver to tighten the screw once it's inside the standoff. Thanks again for this very helpful video.

Cheers! I'm glad to see this video has reached it's target audience. I'm not trying to do super in depth... or super long. Just enough to 'wet ya whistle'.

Thanks for the video. I did numerous web searches and couldn't find anything like the mounting surface (i.e., the orange board) you show. Can you tell me where you got it? I'm in the US, but prefer metric.

G'day! That 'grid' that I use in the video... That's a product I make. It's a teaching aid for the 'in person' people I see. They are expensive to make... so just go and get a lump of, 3mm thick plastic, cardboard, plyboard... or whtever, and drill some holes.

BTW... thatnsk for the video idea.

Are the holes on the corners of pcbs standard sizes? Seems like it would make sense to get the biggest thread for a given hole. Got a raspberry pi and it seems like everyone suggests 2.5M and I’m not sure why.

G'day, pcb's and standard sizes. Yes... but there are lots of 'standards' 2.5 mm is a standard size. but it's not a popluar standard size. People recomend 2.5 mm stand off's for a raspberry pi because the mounting holes a machined a bit smaller. but you can fit 3mm stand offs in the raspberry pi, it's just a tad tight.

What's this type of board / material at 0:45? Thanks!

G'day, That's PVC. So I use this wonderful material because it's transparent and you can see what's happening behind as I'm demonstrating. It's a wonderful material. Although if it snaps or shatters for any reason (perhaps you drill a hole in it) it gets these super sharp edges. I've cut myself more times than I care to admit (a few times even through gloves). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyvinyl_chloride
