How does it works? LEGO Technic Springless suspensions with linked pendular axles

In this short video I’ll show you the basic functioning of the springless suspensions used on the Expedition Truck (here: ). This video features a HOG version of the truck.
The suspensions’ principle is relatively easy: just link two pendular axle and let the magic happen.
Also works with gear and axle or pneumatic jack (but air is compressible so you’ll have to increase the pressure in the hose).

That is pretty smart! It looks very functional as well. But I suppose there is no suspension for the cabine when both front wheels encounter the same bump?

you could combine both axes with a differantial in the middle too, to stop body roll

The chassis remains rigid. Meaning that aerodynamics devices remain level with the ground. Impressive.

Nice idea, upgraded version of tractor's front pendulum axle. Useful if you don't have lego springs. But like in real tractors it's not full suspension.

+ springless + neat idea + saves ur azz on small vehicles - not rlly suitable for bigger models - no suspension on one axle - prob can't implement height adj. - needs space across all axles - how to use for uneven number of axles?

I really love this truck and i'm about to sacifice madoca's trophy truck for some of the parts. There is one questions i want to ask: is there a way to fit some pneumatic cylinders in the linkage to use them as dampers or isn't the truck that wobbly?

You cant add a suspension because the axles are hanging by pins so they cant go up and down. Only tilt Side to side

@@TillsRCT add yellow shocks to the mounting points of the axles and the center pivot points of the linkages and you get a suspension

Just to independent fromt axle suspension and the whole axle on tilt, just like the front axle of the 42099 kinda

While it is a very cool mechanism, it it isn't really what I would call a suspension system. There are no shock absorbers or any other elements used that could absorb the shock if both front wheels hit a bump at the same time. Have you thought about combining this system with a shock absorber setup?

Will there be instructions for the truck? Would be cool as a base chassis that you can build different type of setups on top of. I would pay for instructions.

Would it be feasible to add a spring somewhere between the two axles so that you keep the rocker suspension but can also have it sprung?

Well if you add a spring in the middle of the liftarm you can have a left to right suspension, but never up and down as both axle are fixed through a pivot to the chassis
