Durbar Square, a historic plaza in Katmandu, Nepal, facing ancient palaces and adorned by Hindu temples, is always full of eager crowds on the last day of Indra Jatra, the festival celebrating Indra, the Hindu king of heaven.

There are actually tons of Metal Bands in Nepal. Underside got a little more exposure than the others but there are many bands that have been in existence since a long time. I suggest you also check out Classic Metal bands like ANTIM GRAHAN, CRUENTUS, UGRA KARMA and much more. \m/

they have put some local music instruments in the song and the dude with the mask is called lakhey in nepali they perform dance and other diffrent acts in many religious festivals in Nepal , Check out more bands and artist from Nepal , cheers mate

Man dancing in the mask is called laakhe. It’s related to newar culture in Kathmandu valley. The tribal drum is called dhime also related to newer culture of Ktm valley.

The thing which looked liked trumpet is also one of the cultural instrument, and the thing which was carried on the neck is also the cultural instrument named as 'Dhimey'. Loved to see Nepali content :)

Hey bro the one you’ve been assuming trumpet is called ‘shankha’ which is shell of ritual and religious importance in Hinduism. It is the shell of a large predatory sea snail. They are using some ethnical nepalese musical instruments in this music such as Jhyamta, Nagara ,Jhyali and more which might sound different but believed to be powerful soul raising sounds mainly used in various cultural and religious events.

I don't see or hear any shankha. All I see is the long wind instrument which is most probably a Newari instrument 'Muali'. I'm not sure though but it's definitely not shankha.

That mask you were talking about is called "Lakhe mask". It is a big part of Nepalese culture, wearing that mask is supposed give you the spirits of "lakhe" which is also shown in the video.

The masked guy represents lakhey which is demon.It is a type of dance performed in every jatras(celebration) by Newar Community in Nepal.Its like a demonic dance..

I'm from Nepal myself yet I never knew that my own country had metal bands, though metal in Nepal isn't as prevalent in other countries. This whole time I was listening to metal in English, Norse, Gaulish, Finnish only. Thanks to KZfaq for recommending this video and thanks to you for this video, I can now dig for more Nepali metal music

The mascot is lakhey who are said to be demons that protect the local people. Local people used to invite lakhey on festivals to dance. Anyways loved the effort in the beginning was funny lol. React to wild by underside next

That mask men is #LAKHE. A detiy worshipped by Newari people followed with deity disguise & awesome dance. When we were child just by seeing those mask man. It made us piss our pants. 👶😅
