Hi @benchmarkimaging8293 - if you have spare wires, you could use them the Soil Clik instead of running new wires. There are pros/cons to both. The Baseline sensor will be more accurate due to the technology used in the sensor probe, while the user interface on the Soil Clik is definitely superior. The Baseline sensor also has a calibration feature that will help you properly set the sensor threshold after install - and you can see that actual soil moisture percentage - the Soil Clik does not display the percentage. For accuracy I would choose Baseline.

@NJTrain - great question. The S100 Moisture Sensor will work with any controller that has a common wire. This essentially means any existing controller, not matter how small or large, except for 2-wire controllers. The S100 soil moisture sensor works by interrupting the common wire so that power is not able to reach the solenoid. By interrupting the common, the unit is able to track the last time the schedule attempted to run, but was not allowed. There is a small learning curve, but it is not difficult, and you could decide to install the sensor just to take readings, but not allow it to pause the watering. -Andy

Depends which other sensors. Always install a rain sensor, even with a soil moisture sensor. This sensor is designed to keep the system off until the soil drys out (vs. turn it off when it’s raining).

Got it! The biggest advantage is that the Baseline sensor does not use a "home run" wire going back to the controller. You wire it into the closest valve, and it is able to send data over the field wires, back to the controller. Kinda like wireless, but not wireless. It sends data over the wires..

Perhaps, it really depends of the complexity of your landscape. For larger, more complex landscapes, there are larger control systems available tht support up to 25 soil moisture sensors. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in learning more. -Andy

@@Andy_Humphrey I did and I was excited... Until someone said that it requires a monthly subscription 😞. $70 for a sensor is steep to have to pay a subscription to keep using it. Hopefully, my information is wrong, and someone will review it... Hint hint 😉
