How do you keep the loops from unraveling should something get snagged onto a loop?
@gnarbeljo8980
@gnarbeljo8980 Жыл бұрын
Wonderingnthe same thing. I think it's a less functional technique and more decorative. I'd be a bit worried about making a small rug or seating cushion or bag that must all hold up to wear and tear. Hooking or crochet needle locking it into place would be alot more durable for functional work. If using expensive wool yarns, it makes more sense unless hung on the wall.

OKAY I hope I'm not the only one who was thinking the front of your work was the cloth facing you at the beginning of punching,. Like, the side with the loops isn't the back of your work, IT'S THE FREAKING FRONT. God I might be just dumb but I really didn't understand this up until now. Thank you for your video! MUCH much help

This answered a lot of questions for me, thank you! I ordered a needle and fabric today but confused about what wool to buy - I will wait and see if my needle comes with any suggestions :) I just have one more question, is the 'back' of the hoop (with the loops) actually the front of the piece?
@AnaGonzalez-ii7ur
@AnaGonzalez-ii7ur 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’d say you can choose what side you want to show as “front”, so if you want big loops in the front, you’ll have to punch from the back side.
@studioversie
@studioversie 4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Harriet. Ana is absolutely right. You can choose! It's also nice to use both on one piece, so punch from the back and the front. This way you create some fun textures.

Thank you so much for letting me know the link doesn't work! I have changed it and now it does work. To make it easy, here is a link to the needle: www.etsy.com/nl/listing/649187124/verstelbare-stootnaald-met-instructie-e?ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1&crt=1 It's not the same needle as in the video, because that one isn't made anymore. This is a very good replacement though and works exactly the same. Thanks!

Is there a way to seal tbe stitches from the bottom so they stay when washed?
@studioversie
@studioversie 4 жыл бұрын
You could finish the back with glue (I've never done that, so don't ask me how) or you could iron on a special fabric that sticks to the yarn when heated with the iron. I've done that for pillows and that works. But it should always be a handwash and not too warm.

The regular needle can go up to 5,5 mm, but if it is very squishy it might work. It all depends if it can flow through the needle easily.

@studioversie
@studioversie 4 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is the fabric you're using. Cross stitch fabric is too rigid and won't hold the loops. For beginners I really recommend using monk's cloth count 10 to 14. Good luck!

It depends on what you do with the punched fabric. If it´s just for display it´s really not necessary. If you use it as a pillow for example, some people prefer to secure it. Normally I do ship to Indonesia, but with all the restrictions it´s not possible right now, I´m sorry!

Studio VerSie so after MUCH frustration I figured out the problem. I had bought a kit and the kit used an extremely cheap fabric, it was almost a satiny polyester blend. That’s why my thread wouldn’t stay put. I decided switched to a cross stitch kit and never looked back! Lol but thanks to getting back to me!
