The craziest thing I ever saw was when I was arrested for a suspended license in Atlanta, Ga. when they took me into the hold up area, they took everything from me except for my cash. Which I found strange. Then later we were sent into these large cells. Once inside I realized there was some really weird smoke and smell. I looked into the very back of this large cell , inside the toilet there were people smoking crack! The orange clad inmates who were around “cleaning” were selling crack. Shockingly you could see that the guards knew exactly what was going on. I am certain the cleaning inmates were selling for the guards. And then I knew why I was allowed to keep my cash! I was scared shitless! Never been back since!!

More important than your insight into the drug trade, your points about the economic impact of the prisons on their communities is on point. They make a situation to where they want or need to have these prisons and prisoners. Thus they always lobby for tougher laws and less education.

Thanks for talking about how the local economies depend on prisons in these nothing towns. Not to mention the county jails getting 300 something dollars per inmate from the state when all they have to do is spend about $3 a day in food costs and a little paperwork.

Big Herc that was a very good point you towords the end.. perfect example of that will be private prison Industries. How different Administrations change the politics in the nature of Prisons. The two largest private prison companies Geo Group and CCA the stocks went down 33% towards the end of Obama's administration. Ever since Trump got elected and the hope of more immigration detentions those two stocks have shot up. Private prisons are horrible, not just merely because you capitalizing on somebody's misery. Remember everything is a money game... So the staff is undertrained, the food is undernourished and the inmates are treated 10 times worse.. have you ever considered doing a segment on private prison Industries? What are your thoughts on them? Have you ever been incarcerated in one?

What he said about the economy would die is to true. When we moved to Chino hills 30+ years ago my dad kept getting hounded to be a guard at Chino. Many of our neighbors were guards, kids I went to school with had parents that were guards.
