There’s no such thing as an ovo sweatshop lol. His best acts have good careers, BUT ALSO have written hits with drake.. which they get paid handsomely for in royalties. You never hear anyone complaining. The weeknd did the right thing because he’s a major act. OVO doesnt typically sign major acts, which in my eyes is a great thing. @@richardmartinez5040 Summer Walker was already signed to LVRN when Drake hopped on the feature and was dating someone in the industry. So I don't think she needed Drake as much as he needed her and he couldn't really strongarm her with anything. Also, I think most artists now can look at OVO's track record and know to be cautious in their dealings with him.

THIS is the evils of the music industry, at its most basic level. Forget the Illuminati shit and the q anon hip hop fans theories, this right here is true injustice. He is a colonizer of sound and art style. And he plays the part of the nice guy everyone likes to get them to sign their lives away. This is what big record companies do as well just on a major scale. This is the injustice. This is the evil. At its most human level, the music industry is solely about greed. Hip hop needs to change for it to overcome all of this. The genre of hip hop needs to go to therapy.

Anyone who is an OG weeknd fan knows - you can hear him all over Take Care - and he admitted that he gave up so much of what would've been half his first album for Drake because it was DRAKE - listen to practice by Drake and tell me it's not the weeknd? Anyway PND and so many other artists sign to him and he legit just sucks ppl up - love Drake - still we must call it like we see it... he rides others - he throws PND a bone sometimes

Drake did the same thing with to DRAM with Cha Cha which was his first hit. He stole it and made hot line bling. Chacha was way better but after drake stole the sound and made a stupid amount of money on it, im guessing Dram had to put out a slightly different version of his original song which wasn't as good. I don't know why he had to do that though. Him and DRAM had major beef about that.
