Befriends you treats you good gives the most glazed complements to boost your head especially coming from the biggest artist in the game as a small artist you would feel so hype nobody would be able to tell you nothing and he goes to sign you and keeps lying to you and is taking all your ideas and songs to make hit records while you can’t drop anything because you’re stuck under his label but he keeps lying boosting your head up anytime he sees you telling you are the best and are extremely talented but won’t let you drop anything but also anytime you bring new ideas and songs he says let him use them for his next project or single and he keeps saying he about to let you drop just wait until he releases his next project and it never happens and you keep having to send him more of your material it doesn’t hit him until he starts going broke and realizes dude is just using him and doesn’t promote him whatsoever and is just been taking all his ideas for hit songs

Drake has given people more hits than people have given to him. Everyone at the top of the industry does the exact same thing, but he’s the only one being scrutinized for it. There’s no such thing as an ovo sweatshop lol. His best acts have good careers, BUT ALSO have written hits with drake.. which they get paid handsomely for in royalties. You never hear anyone complaining. The weeknd did the right thing because he’s a major act. OVO doesnt typically sign major acts, which in my eyes is a great thing. They give artist in a more niche market backing like indie labels do. Everyone here is just biased and clearly has no idea of the inner workings of the industry. Who’s not doing features??? The last part is super factual because look at Teezo. He already had some buzz being connected with trippie and was blowing up off his “Beaumont Garage” videos (the three graffitied garage doors in videos such as Social Cues) then all the sudden drake posts a picture of him and he’s on his album

Now, the rumors sound very believable, that drake has ownership of other artists rights in the music business. Drake really sounds like he has became UMG secret weapon to screw over up coming artists... Think about it... what label is going to pay a rapper 400 million, there had to be a bigger plan!

The deal wasn't just 400 mill. It was a 360 deal, meaning umg essentially owns drake the brand. Drake doesn't even own his own music, fuck drakes merch isn't even his, umg owns his merchandise. It isn't just 400 mill they expect to get back, they expect a massive investment pit of it, due to hitting majority of the profits that drake makes

THIS is the evils of the music industry, at its most basic level. Forget the Illuminati shit and the q anon hip hop fans theories, this right here is true injustice. He is a colonizer of sound and art style. And he plays the part of the nice guy everyone likes to get them to sign their lives away. This is what big record companies do as well just on a major scale. This is the injustice. This is the evil. At its most human level, the music industry is solely about greed. Hip hop needs to change for it to overcome all of this. The genre of hip hop needs to go to therapy.

Drake did the same thing with to DRAM with Cha Cha which was his first hit. He stole it and made hot line bling. Chacha was way better but after drake stole the sound and made a stupid amount of money on it, im guessing Dram had to put out a slightly different version of his original song which wasn't as good. I don't know why he had to do that though. Him and DRAM had major beef about that.
