Everton’s pursuit of Carlo Ancelott was more than two years in the making.
Everton’s ambitious majority investor Farhad Moshiri has wanted a truly world-class manager ever since he took over in February 2016.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and, once again, Moshiri needed a new manager, a man who can revive the fortunes of a club in which he has - under his watch - invested almost half a billion pounds on transfers alone.

Ancelotti is in the tradition of people like Trapattoni, Ferguson and Hitzfeld, not Cruyff, Sacchi and Guardiola i.e. players and specific situations are more important than systems and ideologies. For example, one week he might play with 1 striker and next week he'll play with 2 strikers because of the team he is facing. This strategy allows individual genius to flourish and makes training sessions and everyday life easier for all players.
@FarhanMaulana17
@FarhanMaulana17 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know about it, but footballing world now looks like it prefers the latter type of managers. The quality of players is already distributed enough in the top flight, that a team without systems most likely will struggle to compete with team with it.
@seb2750
@seb2750 4 жыл бұрын
There is a reason for Carlo changing his way. In an interview about his start at Parma, he was a system man. He was at odds with Roberto Baggio about how he would play. Carlo wanted to stick to his 442 system with Baggio as the striker. Baggio wanted a 10 role. They couldnt agree and Baggio went to Bologna and got 23 goals. Carlo said that was a wake up call for him and he regret he lost 23 goals from Baggio. Go check out that interview.
@seb2750

Also, Carlo lost the great Zola too at Parma due to his stubborness at a system. He got sacked from Parma due to this lack of flexibility. Carlo admitted he was a die hard of Arrigo Sacchi 442

Everton were league champions in 1987, Bill Kenwright (their chairman) got on the board in 1988. Since then has been the demise of Everton. And when he took over in the mid 90s, there was ZERO outward investment. Everton deserve investment after 20+ YEARS of zero investment.

@@adobdebunkology5671 yes but you didn't include the fact that Peter Johnson was the owner and he asset stripped the club, refused to invest and allowed the club to wither to the point of near bankrupcy. When Kenwright took full control over Everton were we were close to death financially, and although unable to bring the finances of a billionaires to Everton Kenwright together with Moyes slowly turned the club around, kept us in the division, and returned us to the top end of the league with almost no financial backing. Kenwright then found someone who could take the club on but who would also actually care about the club and fans, rather than just selling to some soulless twat like Mike Ashley or the Glazers. Kenwright should get a better rap than he does.

Can you do a video on the french national team and how they manage to have that much talent plz?

Brazil, England and Belgium have arguably the more talented players than France. A video on the effective, defensive tactics of Didier Deschamps would be more informative.

Foo Aloysius The 3 countries you cided are far far from having the talents france have. France can have 3 different teams still better than england. France have been the most successful country on the international stage since 1998 and idk why its heavily underrated.

@@Moda97 There's little hype about Les Bleus as their style of play does not align with the Cruyffian ideology of hipsters. The French do not press as high and as aggressively as other footballing nations, nor do they obsess over meaningless ball possession.

Foo Aloysius Yeah but no need to play like cruyff to win something right? I only want to know how they manage to produce that much talent and I think the overhype is on the english team rn..

Why the fk is everton paying a manager who has already been sacked? Only in football can you find such a thing. Wish I get that too from my previous job.

Adob Debunkology He did finish 4th with Everton, after losing their best player with a team that had finished 17th the season before, He got them 5th twice and were consistently in the top 7 Built a great team with a £30m net spent in 10 years

@@michaelmccomb703 Everton won 9 league titles, 5 FA Cups, 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup, and 10 Community Shields. They won more league titles than Man Utd before Premier League started. David Moyes did not win ONE trophy at Everton. Golden years are years in which the clubs performs at their best. Everton have finished in the top 4 about 34x in their history. David Moyes only achieved that once at Everton. Arsenal have only just overtaken them in top 4 finishes despite finishing the top 4 20 years in a row. Only Man Utd and Liverpool have finished more, likewise only them clubs have won the league more. Everton had at one point one of the highest wage bills in the league and were around 8th in spending money on players under David Moyes. Arteta took a pay cut to go to Arsenal. Moyes bought Andy Van Dery Meyde in 2005 for 8m. Total flop. Per Koldrup for 6m, total flop. Simon Davies for 5m, total flop. Andy Johnson for 10m (good for one season), Bilyledinov for 10m total flop, Kone for 7m total flop, Robles for 4m total flop, Besic for 5m, flop. Yakubu for 15m. He bought Fellaini for 20m in 2008. Before transfer fees exploded. The reason Moyes got credit was because his best buys were bargain basement buyes like Lescott, Arteta, Pienaar etc. But when he had money to spend, he did not spend it well. For example he paid 20m for a defensive midfielder (FEllaini) who wasn't a good DM, and so he actually played him UP FRONT. He didn't do any wonder job, looking at money spent overall in his time at the club, Everton should have remained around 6-9th. Which is where they hovered.

Everton need a much higher class of player. Their squad is riddled with high priced bang average players. They are still small time compared to the truly big clubs until that happens.

Domenico tedesco/eddie Howe/ Lee Johnson would've been the ideal managerial candidates for everton. Don't let Carlo's CV fool ya'll. He is a very very good man manager and has a hands off approach which allows his players freedom within a structure. I honestly don't think that this is what Everton needed. Those young coaches I listed earlier would be very good prospects to develop Everton into a much better team
