Meet Gino. He is undergoing ex-vivo gene therapy, a promising technique to treat complex conditions. A corrected version of a gene is introduced back into Gino’s body using his own cells, thereby eliminating many of the complications that occur with more standard therapies. While gene therapy is still considered experimental for many conditions, early outcomes are encouraging.​
