My tip: If you want to enjoy Vegas on a budget, remember to travel with people who are like-minded and aren't picky about restaurants. Food courts and quick service restaurants can save you a lot compared to nice sit-down places. Also, stop at a CVS and load up on drinks and snacks for the hotel room and pool. Have granola or protein bars on hand so you can skip an overpriced breakfast. This could save you hundreds.

Cheap Vegas died about 20yrs ago. I was lucky enough to start visiting Vegas at the tail end. You could still get steak dinner specials for under $10, and decent rooms on the strip cost about $39/night during weekdays, and there was no crazy resort fees. I was just in Vegas 7 nights and here’s how we did it cheap…. Booked an AirBnB with full kitchen off strip, about 30mins from door to strip. $75ish per night all-in. Went to Walmart and bought food for breakfasts, snacks and to make sandwiches so we didn’t have to eat out all thr time. Got $20 3-day transit passes that includes the Deuce bus and used that to spend 3 days around the strip, usually ending up at Fremont Street for free concerts (except to see Aerosmith which was a priority). Rented a car 2 days for Red Rock Canyon/Hoover Dam/Cactus Gardens and to go for great meals in non-strip priced restos. Add a Grand Canyon bus tour day and it was a great vacation without feeling gouged.

I was in Vegas in August and I found out that everything is a lot cheaper outside the Strip. Once you enter the Strip, expect to pay a ridiculous price for food, like over $100 for a couple of pizzas. Also, beware of people who will try to scam you. I got approached by a couple of girls walking down the Strip who wanted me to take pictures with them, then they tried to get me to put my credit card number into one of their phones as payment. I didn't, and they cried me a whole river as they followed me back to Treasure Island. Sorry, not sorry.

We went to Las Vegas a little over a week ago. Las Vegas is cheap, if by cheap you mean they give you very little for your time and money. It looked shabby to me and we found the food to be way overpriced. I didn’t find the slot machines to pay very well. We had a good time, because we found inexpensive places to eat and spent more time sightseeing than gambling. We did not even have a coffee maker in our room. We figured it was because Starbucks was in the lobby.

Thanks for this Chris, sadly Vegas has become quite an expensive place to visit unless you want to go out of your way to save money. Even beyond the much more inflated prices of just about everything there are a lot more stealth charges being introduced and even more people expecting increasing tips. For us Europeans this is amplified by the increasing strenght of the dollar making it even more expensive. I still love Vegas but I do dislike the way visitors are being nickel and dimed to coin an American phrase.

Exactly why being cheap at home is a must. I started DIY all my beauty just before the lockdown and thankfully there are many ways to cut corners. Lil free pantries and book boxes as well as food banks help a ton. I work in education and aiding families and instead of wasting food or supplies, I like to put them in book boxes and communal fridges.

Yeah the Vegas hotels are not some suburban family hotel . They are made to sleep in until you get up and out on the strip. With 3000 rooms the less items the hotels have to keep up and service /replace. From my experience and interaction with thousands of ppl , the large large majority do not need or want a microwave and most don’t need a fridge (although it is nice). If you can try and go to Vegas Sunday through checking out Friday, those are the cheapest times to go. Trust me, it’s never dead in Vegas, but it’s less traffic than on weekends. I think for 1 or 2 people, staying at the Motel 6 on Dean Martin Drive or Tropicana is a great deal, because you’re hardly going to spend time in your room but to sleep and shower so why spend tons on lodging. I like to sit at the bar and have a bottle of beer and people watch when not gambling. When they charged $8 for a bottle of domestic, I said enough of the gouging. Yes, I could gamble at the bar and drink free, but to do that it was a minimum $20 stake and minimum $1 bets. At that rate it would have cost me $50 for a beer. Then add to that the food. I had a burger, fries and 2 draft beers at Tom's Urban at the New York. Total bill was $54. I used to love going to Vegas, but they have taken the fun right out of it.

Also, gas is the same as LA, CA, in fact, gas at the moment is even cheaper here in LA than Vegas, imagine that! Overall, it was fun, but not worth it! $60+ for a souvenir drink at the Daiquiri place at Paris! Come on. On top of all that, it stinks like weed and piss all over the place. I am so very fortunate to have booked everything several months in advance, and enjoy my discounts as a Gold MGM Resorts member. I love the free parking and no resort fees! Happy Holidays! Back in the 80s it was cheap if you chose the right hotels. My Dad took me to the Sahara and the room was $30 a night. I thought it was awesome, one of my best memories with Dad..

If you want cheap rooms you have to be willing to change hotels. Most hotels will have 2 cheap days in a row midweek then they go up the 3rd day. If you stay mon, tue in one hotel, wed, thur in another and the weekend in a lower end hotel you can still pay an average of less than $100/night. Weekends is where they get you. If you have loyalty and have resort fees waived you can even keep a week under $400-500

I went in early November and got a pretty good deal on my airfare and had got an offer from MGM rewards for some comp nights which I took them up on. I am not sure there are many places you can go on vacation anymore and spend less than $100 a night for a hotel. As far as food goes, I watched a lot of Vegas KZfaqrs for places to visit so I was aware of the prices. You might be able to find comparable food outside of Vegas for less, but Vegas is a foodie paradise. I still call it a win if you can go for a 3-4 nights with a total bill of under $1500 for airfare, hotel, food. entertainment.

Here’s some helpful tips to save some money while in Vegas: 1. Do Not Buy Drinks at Hotels if you dont have to - Its much better to buy drinks at Walmart or Target off the strip which if u have a car is not that far. 2. Dont need to always eat on the strip as apart from the buffets, the restaurants are expensive and some are wayyy over-rated and over-priced. Instead, when I went to Vegas, they had more affordable options off the hotels like at food courts in the mall and also In-n-Out Burger off the strip is not bad at all. Another thing, is also that hotels do charge for parking unless your hotel package says parking included in the package versus parking available. So be careful about those things, have to read the details. Just all in all it depends on what u want in Vegas

Vegas is definitely not cheap anymore, our room was comped for two of the three nights and the third night was only like $45. We avoided buffets or any other expensive eating options. So our total was definitely less, but still expensive for what it was for 2 people. We did the Marvel Avengers Station, which was fun.

Just returned from 5 days in Vegas the week of Thanksgiving. Expensive? Well, certainly not the same as before Covid. I asked a staff member what I was getting for the 50% increase in Resort Fee and he told me I was getting 50% more ripped off. I knew it would be more expensive and I accepted that. What I really struggled with is the incredibly poor customer service. Every front line staff member we encountered, except one, were absolutely fantastic, in spite of every place being short staffed. I know these people work really hard, but it is not easy to justify a large tip when the service was pathetically slow due to lack of adequate staff and the prices were, at times, significantly higher than in the past. And, thank you very much, I brought home Covid.

It was ridiculous. Prices through the roof for everything. Only one pool was open in my casino, a line up to the front door to check in with only two staff at the desk, only one restaurant was open in my casino, place almost dead. No daily room cleaning. Now add "resort fee". What a joke. We need the mob to take over again or a Bob Stupak. To anyone who will listen -------------- don't waste your time on vegas, go to an Indian casino near you. More money to gamble with and NO RESORT FEE !!!

We visited vegas from the UK on a package deal through virgin in August. We stayed at the venetian and we had a good time overall. To be honest I expected it to be expensive but I was genuinely shocked at some prices of things. Silly things like 2 coffees in the morning from the kiosk on the side of the casino floor was $14. I know you'd find it cheaper elsewhere but 1st thing in the morning I didn't fancy hiking miles just to find a cheaper place. Another time we ordered 3 G n Ts and a budweiser from the bar and it was $79 plus tip. I was so stunned I just paid it. If I was ever to go back I'd definitely do a little research and avoid the rip offs where possible but I doubt I would return. The constant smell of weed everywhere gets a bit much if its not your thing. The homeless issue is out of control imo. We saw a fight on the strip between 2 homeless men that turned into about 6 on 1, blood everywhere and not a police officer in sight . We saw a homeless guy smoking crack/meth in the middle of the day outside casino royal. At times it reminded me of the TV show the walking dead. It was a bit of a shame really. I 100% wouldn't recommend visiting.

I think you just scared a lot of people off who were considering going to Las Vegas (the prices). I lost track of all your food expenses, but it looked to be about half of your $2,500. An easy way to chop that expense is to pick up a bunch of food at the supermarket and keep it in your room. Save dining out for maybe once a day. Southpoint is the only buffet that is playing to that tune. One thing that I started to do in the early 2000,s to save big $$$ was to take my own booze to LV. Wife and I live in So Cal. When we drove I always took a cooler with us that contained premiums liquor and beer, and lots of garnishes to make mixed drinks. I did this because I do not gamble so I did not get free drinks. The wife did gamble and ordered free drinks but the drinks are made with cheap watered down liquor and would take a long time to get to us. This practice saved us tons of money when we would go to LV. In the early 2010,s we hardly went to LV. The last time we went to LV was in the summer of 2016 to celebrate our anniversary and stayed at the Wynn, and we flew there. So I did not take my cooler. One night that weekend my wife did not feel good so we walked to a local store away from the casino to buy over the counter medications and other none food or drinks items. As we walked back into the casino, we were stopped by security who were posted at the entrance. The guards demanded to look into our bags and we sure "sure" because we had nothing to hide. After our bags were searched, I asked the guards why they had searched our bags. We were advised that they were checking for outside food and drinks because they were not allowed in the casino. We have not been back to LV since. I think that it has become over priced and not worth it anymore.

Vegas is disgustingly expensive for accommodations, food, gaming and entertainment.I am currently here for 32 days but staying in an AirBnB. We rent a car, cook almost all our own meals, avoid the overpriced shows. Wose than the expense is the homeless people loitering, sleeping in front of and often inside the billion dollar resorts. The street performers, photo girls are intrusive as they cluster in front of casino entrances in old, tattered and ugly costumes and the action heroes are even filthier as they hustle $ 20 tips. The smell of weed is unavoidable from early am to night and is everywhere. Gaming greed is worse than ever with 3 green spot / 0, blackjack paying less than 1.5 to 1, machines full of sad and depressed faces. DISGUSTINGLY , I report that escalators and elevators are out of service every day in rotation ( power conservation not requiring repair ! ) I saw 6 people carrying a wheelchair person backwards down the stairs at The Bally's / Cromwell intersection as the crowd backed up across the Flamingo street bridge. I haven’t been to Las Vegas in 15 years. I remember even back in the pre early late nineties Las Vegas was already expensive even then. Next time book a room outside the Las Vegas strip in one of the cheap motels. Then buy a bus ticket online for each member of Your family to get You to the strip and walk to each Hotel and see the attractions and find those magazines on the streets that tells You where the cheapest buffet are and what Hotels are offering cheapest rooms per night during the month. The best times to visit Las Vegas is after the Holidays seasons and just before summer begins and during September-October. If You plan it right, You might only spend maybe 800 hundred or 900 hundred dollars at the most. Besides the Gambling of course. If Las Vegas still has quarter slot machines in some of the hotels, play those instead because You’ll have better odds on winning more money back. Also the slot machines where they have 30 lines to bet on, play only a dollar on them. The reason most of those slot machines are programmed to pay out more in a dollar or less. Don’t waste Your time on those claws machine’s unless You plan to put in three Hundred dollars to get only one hundred dollars back. Don’t waste Your time going to a fancy restaurant there, the reason, it’s a tourist trap and they expect You to waste money there. Find the locals and ask them where the cheapest restaurants and Buffets are at. It changes all the time in Las Vegas and the prices will continue to rise until only celebrities and rice people like Donald Trump can vacation in Las Vegas. I suggest going to a smaller casino outside and far away from Las Vegas. Because if You go to Las Vegas without setting guidelines to save money. Then You better bring at least three thousand dollars in cash with You and your family members and have a couple good credit cards. But if You take my tips. You won’t have to spend over a thousand dollars or more on Your next trip there.

I remember when there were lots of free or cheap things to do in Vegas. I was broken hearted when I found out they stopped doing the Pirates of TI stunt show. It was awesome. Since I didn't gamble it used to be very cheap because you could also see a lot of shows relatively cheaply. I also remember my mom and I getting a coupon to see a really good comedian and get free strawberry shortcake and champaign. Saw many world class magicians and the FX show with animatronic dragon with David Cassidy for much less than what that would have cost on Broadway.

The deal of a lifetime For a family of three I managed to stay at the Bellagio for 💰$0 for one night lol😎 I paid for parking,$15-$20 stayed in their most basic standard cheapest room.I gamble a little when in Vegas so the room was complementary I was given by the Bellagio $100 free play and $50 resort credit when it was time to check out I used the $50 resort credit to pay for the resort fee thus making my stay at the Bellagio 100%FREE!!! 😎😳💯 You gotta know how to stay, you gotta know how to play when in Las Vegas 💯💰 good luck guys 👍🏻get those deals 💰

We saved a lot of money a few years ago in Vegas. I got four tickets to a great show and a Brazilian bbq and two free nights at Caesar’s on our next visit. I was ambushed by a lady who asked me if I was willing to set thru a time share seminar. I agreed and it took three hours (they provided breakfast) but I save about $900 on entertainment and food . By the way, they didn’t come close to selling me any time share. 😊

Wow, definitely need to get a job if I'm going to Vegas. That looks like some great pastry but $20 a pop is crazy.
