Thank you for commemorating Daul today. She was doing all these things that are so nomalized today in the name of social media, long before it was a thing: blogging, documenting her day on video, sharing her thoughts in short snippets (her blog entries were always short) etc.... I used to read her blog back in the day and I remember reading a post where she wrote about how she and another model (might have been a black model) received racist treatment at an agency or client in Japan and how she stood up for her and the other model. This is when I knew she was a real one, because this was long before all the talks we have today of diversity, BLM etc... most people will just bite their tongue for a check and bear it (which is also understandable). She also talked of the books she was reading at the time and stuff like that, she just seemed so deep and interesting and full of knowledge and genuine edge and actual coolness. When the news of her death transpired I could not believe it, I still cannot tbh. And I always wondered what exactly was being said about her in Korean press, because she did hint at it, but never went into detail which is understandable. I'm always surprised to see how many people don't remember Daul anymore or never even heard of her, because she left us just when social media and vitality was about to become a big thing. Only us oldheads who actually read fashion blogs and forums etc... still remember🥲. May she rest in peace 🕊

OMG! I remember being a teenager and being so struck by the news. It was a time when fashion was just starting to utilise social media. I can't remember which but I spent days digesting the news and discussing her passing on an online forum with 'I go deep' playing on a loop. For us fashion nerds it was a glimpse into the industry the reality of which we were too young to comprehend. She truly left an indelible mark. Thank you for this tribute.

honestly this just came to me on my recommended quite randomly and im supposed to be asleep, but i got hooked into this video. i loved your editing style and the way you talked about such a sensitive topic. i never knew of daul kim until now, and may her soul rest in peace. the world really lost a gem. and also the things you say about depression are so true, and i've been going through a really rough time right now and your quote 'i hope more people see their peace as a gift' really touched me. thank you so much aston em, i look forward to watching more of your videos in my free time.
