Back in 2007, World Soccer magazine made a list of the 50 most exciting teenagers on the planet.
And if you look closely at the list you’ll see some very interesting names like Mesut Ozil (37), Juan Mata (28), Toni Kroos (27), Karim Benzema (15), Angel Di Maria (11), Sergio Aguero (7) and Gareth Bale (6). But if you look at the number 1 spot on the list, back then the player who was considered better than all these legends is no other than Sadick Adams.
Trust me - I know what you’re thinking….. WHO THE HELL IS SADICK ADAMS? Not many of you might know him now, but back then the promising centre forward for ghana was one of the most impressive young talents in the entire African continent, but his story is actually one of the most interesting and seemingly unlucky ones I’ve ever talked about.
From impressing in the world stage to suddenly dealing with legal issues and being screwed over by his FIFA, his club, AND his family. Let’s look at exactly what happened to Sadick Adams.
Leave a like if you enjoyed, it's the best way to support the channel 🙏 ❤️ Let me know what video you want next!

Saddick Adams's parents and FIFA screwed his career. First, his parents signing him to a club without informing him and secondly FIFA charging him $50,000. That's just crazy to think about.

You can't blame the parents. FIFA shouldn't have treated him like that. They should simply have made ATM pay off the Tunisian Club since that useless club too didn't want him to progress. ATM would have gladly paid to settle the dispute. It's the same as punishing an underage with maximum adult sentence.

@@itsvocalben Yes you can smh, not for signing the initial contact (which was still not right how it went down), BUT, all his dad had to do was let Atleti know he was signed to ESS, very simple, they would have probably bought out his cheap contract or paid a transfer fee.

It’s not only FIFA holding back players. I met a Ghanaian in the Army in 98 he was only 18. He was invincible. We both made all Army and had a match against a certain German club and he scored two goals in our loss. Three clubs wanted to sign him and the commander wouldn’t let him out his contract even though they were willing to pay it off. His name was Tulani. Last thing I heard he was playing for a club in ROK. I hope he’s doing well wherever he is or whatever he got into

Adiyiah was a one-competition wonder, but nothing more. He struggled to score in the Norwegian third tier (and was a non-factor in their top division), and he was so bad the Fredrikstad staff couldn't believe AC MIlan had come to sign him: they though it was a prank and laughed all the way home from Milan with the money they got. And it wasn't even a "he faked his age" deal, because he was always subpar. Adams as well, besides the time at Atletico, the rest of his career was underwhelming to levels you can't just blame it on the fine and on the forced move to Tunisia.

Hi Raymar. I'm Muhaqqiqin from Indonesia. I watch some of your videos and it's very amazing. You don't have to do this but I actually have suggestions for 2 players to make a video about. 1) Wayne Rooney, I would love you to make a video about him because he is kinda disrespected by a lot of football fans nowadays. 2) Boaz Solossa, he is an Indonesian football player and maybe it's not a familiar names but he was once called as "The Wonder Boy". He was called up to the first team of Indonesia National Team at the age of 17 years old without even playing football professionally yet at the time (like literally he had no club and no professional contract or even a reserve team/youth contract). Before 2007 AFC Asian Cup he was injured (broken leg) and the manager of the national team said, "Our national team lost 50% of our strengths with Boaz being injured". And he was just 21 years old at that time. That was how good he was. A little more info about Boaz Solossa. He broke his leg twice throughout his career and yet everytime he came back he was easily the best player. He came from a big Island of Papua. FYI, Papua is the 2nd biggest island in the world consist of two country, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. And if you ask all the boys in the Indonesian halves at that time, every single one have a dream to be Boaz Solossa. Once again I hope you consider my suggestion but to be honest you don't really have to do it if you don't want to. Thank you very much.

Of course they couldn't have known Adams would blow up after the WC, but they didn't have to hide it from him or Athletico either. FIFA just enforced the rules of the contract imo, which in the end is a legal agreement signed by Adams' parents and the Tunisian club. The $50k fine was a bit much tho :/

The Fine was so unfair especially considering that he wasn't an established player yet. In the case of Mikel Obi of Nigeria, Chelsea paid compensation to Manchester United and his agent was fined. That is what should have been done for Saddick as well, his father should have been fined and compensations paid by Atletico Madrid. Even though we know he would have been involved in the paying, Atletico might also have helped out. Again, the amount of the fine was too much. Etoile de Sahel of Tunisia was and is one of the bigger clubs in Africa, so I don't really blame the father for rushing to sign the contract, but Etoile could have also called the father and the kid before calling FIFA. I am sure they would do things differently now. Knowing that they have killed a promising career.

At the end of the day there was probably so many more factors that lead his parents to sign him up for a club. Yes fifa could have definitely handled the situation much better but at the end of the day we can’t blame fifa for his parents being so naïve about their own son. I would really hope they would have asked their own son about the situation of signing him to a club where he lived so closely.

How did FIFA ruin him? They did what they were supposed to do. Everything FIFA did in this instance was legal. It's his parents who should be blamed. They took advantage of his age and signed a contract without his knowledge. If FIFA let him off the hook, then other wonderkids will also start disrespecting their contracts. Can you imagine a scenario where Endrick,a Real Madrid player, signed for City now and used the same excuse as this? This one is definitely on the parents.
@RaymarFootball
@RaymarFootball 9 ай бұрын
Well because he was 1. a minor, 2. fifa could have not let the tunisian club take advantage of a minor, and 3. why tf did they fine him 50k lol. Endrick was there and decided together to sign with RM. Sadick didn’t. Easiest way is to put yourself in that situation and you def would not feel the same

Lots of players are quality at a young age but never make it for various reasons. He had to honour the contract with the Tunisian club by law. However FIFA could have banned him for 4 months with 3 months suspended if he broke the rule a second time. That would have been a win for everyone. As for the that’s FIFA they have no shame. If Atletico wanted him that badly they could have paid the fine and transfer to his club. He was the number one teenager in the world so the money would have well spent. So why didn’t they? Why did no other big club come after him? At some stage he lost his way it happens a thousand a season. Just because he was the best at 17 doesn’t mean he would be the best 5 years later. He played for 16 clubs in his career that says everything about his maturity and mentality. FIFA are a disgrace to football and I would love to blame them but sadly it’s on Adams himself. He’s an intelligent guy he knows it’s on him. Hopefully he will still achieve many great things in football and more importantly for his country and the Ghanaian people.

This is an extremely sad story. FIFA continues to disappoint but when there is so much money and power and so little oversight, they definitely don’t care. At least he got a chance to enjoy the game on the field, but wish the rest of the world could have enjoyed him (and vice versa) by being on the big stage. A question tho. Why didn’t he feature for Ghana after u17? Surely that would have granted him the exposure he deserved.
