Luckily I can mostly empathise with Travis' POV in this one. Throughout my life it's been a sort of icebreaker subject when meeting people. Folks from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds can find something fun to engage in and talk about

Gaming is enjoyable in its own right, but I think there are a lot of seriously depressed people, people who feel like outcasts, and/or people that are dealing with severe trauma or grief that are only still alive because of the therapeutic effect games can have. Escapism is not a bad thing. If you are a realist and can face all the s*** life can throw at you head on, wonderful. But not everyone can - or more importantly- wants to do that. How many more teen suicides would there be without some method of escapism? It used to be just books, then books and plays, then add movies, and now video games. But escapism has always been around and it's greatly needed form of self-therapy by many.

Don't listen to these fools. Gaming only causes a small amount of dopemine to keep you hooked for a little bit until you leave the game, and then come back to it the next day and repeat the same nonsensical process. Get rid of your gaming device or whatever video game you're attached to and get in the gym

You're clearly not a gamer because you are missing the whole point. If the gym works for you, great! It doesn't work for everyone and people struggling with disabilities, depression, being bullied, or any number of other things may not even have that option available, and it might not help them if they do. Should someone with anorexia head for the gym and lose even more weight? But playing games might just bring them enough stress relief to help them reverse course. It's never wise to judge others based on your own preferences and beliefs. People are not all the same, nor should they be. You do the gym, I'll do gaming and sometimes the gym or some other form of exercise because that combination makes me happier, and someone else will just do gaming for whatever reason they choose. Don't be the dietician that goes to a child's birthday and rants about kids eating cake instead of broccoli and a nice piece of liver.
