Am I insane here? How is Ulamog not instant pick for colorless decks? He's a massive eldrazi who basically cripples one opponent when he enters, and then once he's on board, he's got an absurd annihilator value, with bonus ward annihilator. Why would you not include him in every colorless deck, especially considering how getting to 10 mana with colorless's innate ramp is barely even a challenge.

He's just wrong about most of these. What the guy doesn't realize is that 3 mana ramp spells like Kodama's Reach are not very good, so casting Flare of Cultivation for 3 mana and getting a weaker version of it is pretty bad. It is only good if you have green one drops to sac to cast it for free, but those are usually mana dorks, so why would you go -1 when you could just keep the dork? Ulamog is crazy good. Its cast trigger can easily delete someone's combo pieces from their deck, its ward is brutal and, if it gets to attack, the defending player basically loses the game. Not to mention there are multiple ways to give it haste, even in colorless

@@florinalinmarginean1135 however it does cost 10 mana. I do think that Ulamog is likely overrated, but what he's absolutely wrong about is the flare, I definitely agree. Flare of cultivation is pretty bad imo, green is the color I would guess is the least likely to want to sacrifice its monocolored creatures at the time you would be happy to cast flare of cult for free. It's just a bad template for a free spell like that. The other flares are basically all significantly better.

@@florinalinmarginean1135 He is not wrong about most of these. But you're not wrong wrong either. You only mentioned 1 of the 3 he said are great. The other two, he 100% was correct. But keep in mind, he was referring to cards that will be good in many decks. Ulamog will be good in eldrazi decks almost exclusively.

NADU, winged wisdom is probably going to be the most played commander. The amount of card draw and land drops is crazy. In my play testing I have combed my whole deck into the battlefield with NADU.

Vexing Bauble in every high power deck to shut off fast mana/free spells. Mana crypt, chrome mox, mox diamond, jewelws lotus, lotus petal... Force of will, force of negation, all the new flare cards, and much more! Force of duplictation is also sick for all non-blue decks to copy conterspells to protect your own stuff.

Ulamog the defiler is the exact definition of "fuck it, it costs more than 6, give it more text". Like they tried to balance it by making it a 10 cost 7/7 but oops, your opponent exiled a craterhoof so actually he's a 15/15. But it's fine he's just a big blob of Stats with a decent ward cost...and now he has annhiliter 73 because the person playing him brought inexorable tide and atraxa to the table. I love eldrazi but ulamog the defiler is yucky

Birthing ritual seems exceptionally weak. Not being able to control what card you get off of it makes it way weaker than birthing pod. Plus, sacrificing a creature with, say 3 mana value and just hoping you hit something with 4 is very bad.

To be fair, you'd only sacrifice a creature if there is something to hit, but I do agree it should be lower than B-Tier. I think it could work in a deck that has a fairly high creature count and a low curve, but looking 7 cards deep just isnt that much in EDH.

Ngl 3 mana 7/5 is actually awful in commander remember 1 mana 6/6 flyer is PLAYABLE. Cards have to be busted to be good. But the proliferate makes it very strong since it is very difficult to stop at least the first trigger and 3 mana 1 for 1 that comes with proliferate as a floor is very good in counter/infect/energy decks

You proliferate to increase the number of time counters, which means the card will stick around for longer because it stays until there are no time counters left.

Im sorry but a 7/5 isn't going to be busted in commander. Combat damage from 1 creature isn't going to get you there in a commander game. You're facing down 120 life. Now if you can take advantage of the proliferate then that would be cool

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on ulamog, his abilities slot him perfectly in decks with green white and black. Green and white are immensely good at putting +1/+1 counters on creatures and even if they dont theme into that ulamog can still get counters from his ETB, which is why its perfect for black decks. Reanimating ulamog can still net you +1/+1 counters from the ETB and since many black and white decks already run exile removal and bajuka bog. This is not even mentioning his ward which forces an opponent to reconsider removal unless they are playing a token deck. Ulamog is an insane bomb that can slot into so many archetypes, and i think it will be an expensive but amazing comander staple.

Nope, ulamog still more busted. It is auto included in my selvala deck. In fact, it will probably be an auto include in all deck that cast easily cast it. As a commander, with geode golem, this will be cancer. For the proliferate, better already exist, so I don't know

the main thing with ulamog is that it doesn't do anything you couldn't already do with an 11 mana beater. If you're already there, kozilek is still probably better, and craterhoof wins way faster. also ulamog has no haste no way he doesn't get removed

@@kylarcheng1346 Flux Channeler requires you to be playing non-creature spells, so not a great option if you're playing a creature heavy deck that wants to proliferate. Also the Whale can trigger for each player on each players turn. So up to 4 times per turn or 16 times per turn cycle. It'll likely be closer to 4 per turn cycle, but it can be consistently higher if you really want to build around it. You don't even have to do anything for it to be proliferating regularly though.

Why will dreamtide whale be good in commander? A 7/5 for 3 is ok, but combat damage isnt a great way to win in commander without some other gimmick. The proliferate is neat, but there are better ways to go about it.
