I'm excited to run the Vashtorr Detachment! Not a single multi-model unit in SIGHT.

So much about these Detachments needs to be test-piloted before you know if you can work with it. I don't have high hopes for Fellhammer for my Iron Warriors, but I'll probably test it out and make sure. I hope that yours goes really well. It seems like it's gonna be a lot of fun.

The codex does seem nice! I don't appreciate the massive cliff hanger though. . .why are they teasing me with "Fallen"!? Are we gonna see the return of Loyalists being able to run Cypher in a build? Will Cypher get the Aeldari treatment and have the ability to lead a detachment created from Dark Angel and Chaos datasheets? Will there be a surprise index allowing for a Calibanite type force with Luther? So many questions. . .just hope it's fluffy.

But Master of Geeksessions, what if the rage is part of the fun? :D Really need to see how the new stuff works, but from what I've seen, your list seems solid enough. For tournaments of course, there's no going wrong with 3xForgefiends and Helbrute behind them... Reasons why I run mine as Maulerfiends. It's just more challenging and thus fun for me. Also my opponents, as they more often than not rofl-stomp me, buuuuut... BUTBUTBUUUTT! I can understand that "Vashtorr's detachment" looks good. But good Lord Abaddon, Geek. You can't. I repeat, you can't! Say that "Vashtorr's pretty good now." and not die laughing straight after. The lad should be THE 5th Daemon God! And he sucks every day to Sunday. Quite sizable boi, no hiding anywhere, no defensive buffs, no healing (self or vehicles), very limited range buff to D-engines, which he himself isn't for whatever reason, doesn't really hit anything more armoured than orks in melee and struggles even against vehicles, which ought to be his fave target... And he is probably the ONLY guy who's flamer does not even ignore cover! Even Lord Discordant has ways better flamer than THE 5TH DAEMON GOD OF FETHING CHAOS (self titled and in no way earned). The Detachment indeed looks fun, but even there Vasthorr himself benefits from nothing in that detachment. And it's fluffed to be his! The guy looks awesome and I bought him the moment he was available (peddling the filthy green Ultramarines to friends) and I even like his idea (even though he's basically chaos Cawl that's made solely to explain why sheit happens in modern 40k settings, 'cose the people don't know how to work with the old guys...) But my god Slaanesh-Tzeentch-Khorne, is he just awful! And I've tried running him few times. Couple of times he wasn't even targeted at all, 'cose the opponent knew the other elements in my army were far more capable than him! XD Really wanted the new book to give him at least something, but no. Still daemon butt.

There unfortunately are a few nerfs on units themselves that I feel deeply. Also removal of exhalted champion is sad. Excited to see what ec index offers. Phil just wanted to shout out I bought a DA army. First “imperial army” and I’m playing inner circle. You inspired me to try and make it work. There are somethings that make it difficult but I think if you play them like an anvil not a hammer you have some legit play.
